Year 0 MSE: Heavenfall. The giant Exoform, designated “Agnus”, crashes into the sun, causing an extreme mass ejection of pyroclastic matter. From the Earth, the sun appears to be crying tears of intense heat. Approximately 108,000 individuals are escorted into large spaceships to be flown away from Earth to the areosynchronous space station, “Astarte”- majority of them wealthy politicians and aristocrats- while the rest of the 11 billion population is left behind.

Year 68 MSE: The “sun-tears”, formally termed “Ionized Lacrima”  by the scientific community, are harnessed. These particles possess properties that appear to violate many of the known natural laws of physics. Many of these properties are studied and over the next several centuries, the study of Lacrima particles is codified as the “arcane sciences”.

Year 112 MSE: Lack of a governing body results in an intense power grab, culminating in an all-out civil war over the next few centuries. The conflict ended in the deaths of thousands. Power is consolidated in the hands of the Regulatory Council, and rule of law is finally codified.

Year 238 MSE: The Astarte begins to come under the stress of overcrowding. Expansion into further areosynchronous structures begins. This process is significantly hastened thanks to advances in the arcane sciences.

Year 312 MSE: Six more annex stations are completed: the Lotan, Ozymandias, Mammona, Baal, Cernunnos, and Peor. Each station elects a representative to the Regulatory Council, which is reformed as the International Federation of Councillors.

Year 1068 MSE: The scientific community deems that the level of cosmic radiation on the Earth’s surface is within habitable levels, and thus the first colonization party is sent down. Reports of alien life are received, immediately followed by silence. The party is presumed dead.

Year 1362 MSE: The Imperial Atheneum is founded, and replaces the International Federation of Councillors as the de facto government.  As part of this reformation, the Gregorian Calendar is replaced with the Imperial Reformation Calendar, with Heavenfall marking year 0 of the Mourning Star Era. Seven institutions, one belonging to each of the colonies, are founded.

Year 1492 MSE: The first colonies are formed on the Earth’s surface, following a treaty with the Elvish Kings of Burgundy.

Year 1521 MSE: A human settlement is destroyed following a terrible insurrection, sparking an ongoing war with several other xenohominid species. This conflict, among others, results in the destruction of the Goseong School, one of the seven institutions.
