The Wolf Excerpt

Victoria woke up, drool on her face, and a touch of a smile on her lips. She stretched. Katie’s head was on her chest. Its presence felt good, reassuring. Like Katie. She watched her sleep for a good long while, playing with her red curls.
	“Ugh,” Katie said, stirring. “One eye fluttered lazily open, and she returned her smile.
	“Hey, Victoria,” she said sleepily.
	“Hey, you,” she replied. “Guess what?”
	“What,” Katie responded, still groggy.
	“Chickenbutt.” she said, leaning over to kiss her. It was a good kiss, warm and strawberry sweet in spite of the hour. The taste on Katie’s lips filled Victoria with a youthful exuberance only the restless are allowed to possess.
