Drew knew the knife would not kill him outright, but it would incapacitate him, and death would then be only moments away, with or without his lycanthropy. He thought back to Baron Huth’s words and tried to focus while his body contorted in self-defense.
Suddenly, the shaman’s knife worked its way back out of Drew’s chest as his rib cage began to expand, muscle appearing on muscle and bones shifting shape. He threw his arms back, sending the four men who were holding him pinioned flying into the bonfire with a chorus of screams.
