- "You have a lot to live up to, little one." Luciana closed her book and looked down at the toddler as she played with her toy, blissfully unaware of what her mother was saying to her.
- "My father was mighty, but he wasted his powers completely", Luciana said, stroking the back of the book she was holding. The toddler laughed gingerly before biting her toy. "He spent too much time with his horses, time he should've spent on carrying on his grandfather's legacy. He wouldn't even feed on anyone but my mother. And worse yet; he didn't turn her!"
- Luciana sighed, putting the book on the coffee table next to her. The toddler dropped her toy and started clinging to luciana's leg. Luciana looked down at her child before picking her up, gently placing her on her lap.
- "I found out all about this from books, of course," Luciana continued, gently stroking her child's hair, slowly lulling her to sleep. "Mostly from mothers diaries, but our library did have some information on our bloodline. Father couldn't tell me this, no matter how much he wanted to." Luciana's voice grew louder. "He died while mother was pregnant with me. From thirst! Pathetic."
