Boris - Walrus/Groon EP

One of the first collabs Boris did with Merzbow on the list, and it's immediately one of their hotter ones. The album starts out with possibly one of the best and heaviest covers of The Beatles' I am the Walrus. The lyrics are all sung in broken Engrish which in a way seems really fitting for this song, given that the lyrics were basically made to fuck with people trying to analyse them. As is tradition with Merzbow collabs, the track is full of noise and crackles, and at the end it sounds like Merzbow makes a bird explode or something. I really like this cover, because they really made it their own, while still respecting the original song!

Groon is a fairly typical Boris/Merzbow collab, it's a fairly harsh song with a lot of noise in it. The noise itself isn't necessarily harsh, but it's very present. The track honestly feels like it's filler just so they could release the I am the Walrus cover. Not a bad track overall, but a bit forgettable.
