From above, a man’s voice said, “Hey, thanks! I was a little thirsty!”
Lois, Jimmy, Superman, and even Metallo looked up and saw a big guy with blond bangs covering his forehead. Dressed in pants that were black and light gray and a matching jacket with green trim, he hovered in the air sipping water from the top of the gushing fountain. He wore a large green ring on one finger.
“Green Lantern!” Jimmy said, recognizing the metahuman. “And look! Hawkgirl!”
A young woman with large wings flew up beside Green Lantern carrying a spiked mace. Her uniform was like Green Lantern’s, but with gold trim instead of green. She also sported a gold-and-black hawk helmet with a sharp, beaklike nose and pointed ears. “Gross, Guy!” she said to Green Lantern, whose real name was Guy Gardner. “That’s not a drinking fountain. It’s a fountain fountain. You know, like the kind pigeons poop in.”
“Fine,” Green Lantern said. He held up his ring. A green light shone from the ring and formed itself into a solid green water bottle with a filtration cap. He filled the bottle from the plume of water and delicately sipped from the it. “Satisfied?”
