(Picks up where Paris is escaping from Voyager)

Bridge:

Chakotay: "Go after him!"

Kim: "I'm trying but with the modifications we made, the shuttle is faster than us even before entering threshold!"

Torres: "Chakotay, I've analyzed the data in the shuttle's computer-- it's all garbage."

Chakotay: "What?"

Torres: "I compared the new scan data with parts of the galaxy we've already surveyed, and it's definitely fake. It doesn't match up."

Chakotay: "How could that happen?"

Doctor, on emergency medical channel screen: "I may have an answer for that for that. The DNA mutation Paris is undergoing was not natural, he was purposefully infected with it. And it has a different quantum signature from ours. I think the shuttle ended up in a high subspace domain, was intercepted by aliens, who sent him back here with the fake data and the DNA virus. Something similar was reported by the USS Enterprise when they did that episode with the bug aliens and the creepy holodeck scene and abductions"

Kim: "I'm losing him, he's out of tractor range and we can no longer catch him!"

Chakotay: "Tuvok, can you hit the nacelles without damaging life support?"

Tuvok: "At this range the shuttle is smaller than our targeting error, but I will do my best"

(pew pew pew)

Kim: "The shuttle is breaking up!"

Tuvok: "Beaming them to sick bay!"

Sickbay, later, Paris is fine on the biobed:

Doctor: "The original plan to reverse the DNA changes worked just fine, now that we were able to keep Paris from escaping. He'll be fine in a few days."

Torres: "I went back through the holodeck files, and found out this could never work, even if we rebuilt the shuttle. The physics simulation was never built to handle a warp field frequency that high, the shuttle never could reach threshold in the first place."

Doctor: "The aliens who modified your DNA might have been trying to engineer you to be able to survive in our universe as well as their own-- they probably made you kidnap the Captain so they could do more experiments"

Paris: "Well I guess I owe Neelix an apolagy, his coffee didn't cause all this after-all! But maybe we could use it as the fuel in the next warp engine we build!"

(All laugh at wacky joke)
