He grinned as a grayhound with grisly tusks;
he gaped, he groaned fast with a grudging face
to grieve the good king who greeted him with anger.
His hair and his mane were matted together
and foamed half a foot away from his face;
His front and his forehead, over all of it
His skin was like that of a frog and freckled it seemed;
Hook nosed as a hawk, and gray eyebrows,
over his eye holes with his hanging brows;
Harsh as a hound-fish(a shark), as anyone who-so looks intently
can see was the hide of that hulk wholly all over.
He had huge ears which were ugly to see
with eyes fully horrible and burning, it's the truth;
Flat mouthed as a flounder with sneering lips,
and flesh in his foreteeth as foul as a bear;
His beard was brothy and black and reached his breast;
Fat as a sea-swine(word for whale or dolphin) with his body huge
and all the flesh in his foul lips quivered,
Each fold of which at once twisted out like the head of a wolf!
Bullnecked was that man and broad in the shoulders,
spotted chested as a boar with fully large bristles,
Rude arms as an oak tree with wrinkled sides,
Limbs and loins very loathsome, believe it for truth;
Shovel footed was that man and bowlegged he seemed,
With shanks unshapely shoved together,
Thighs thick as a thurse's (word for giant, demon, evil magical being) and then thicker still in the haunch,
Fat as a pig, fully horrible he looks!
Who the length of the man, if carefully looked at,
from the face to the foot was thirty feet tall
