  1. [ONE] [SIZE] Amazonian Shining Armor
  2. WiP Story - Newest content starts at line 3.
  3. ---
  4.
  5. "You sure about this, Anonymous?"
  6.
  7. "More than you could possibly imagine. I need this."
  8.
  9. Shining fidgeted where he stood, still unsure of what stance to take. "Aren't you worried you'll get hurt? At your size, there's no way you'd get out without being sore for weeks."
  10.
  11. "And every minute of the soreness would be worth it. You're not gonna chicken out on me now, are you?"
  12.
  13. "I said I'd take you," he said, giving the human an annoyed glare.
  14.
  15. "You're not scared of Tavi are you?"
  16.
  17. "After what she did to Lyra? Yeah, kinda."
  18.
  19. "It's not you she'll get pissed at, I promise. Besides, I'd rather deal with her being grumpy at me for a while than miss out on this opportunity."
  20.
  21. "Not like there won't be another set sometime down the road."
  22.
  23. "If you don't want to take me, just man up and say so."
  24.
  25. At this pint, the unicorn had had enough of the small human's tactics. "At least stay quiet until we get there."
  26.
  27. "Deal."
  28.
  29. Rolling his eyes, Shining gripped the human's feet with his magic, helping him up onto his back. The air of betrayal, manipulation and something stupidly fun in the air; Shining silently walked out of the apartment, Anonymous holding onto his mane just as he did Octavia's.
  30.
  31. "I still don't get why you 'need' this," Shining said, now far enough away from the apartment to let out the breath he'd been holding back. No real reason why he was holding it back either - not like Octavia was even in the city right now. "It's just music."
  32.
  33. "Ha! Don't let Tavi hear you say that," the human nervously chuckled, sitting up a bit more. "It's never just music. Besides, don't you ever loosen up and have a little fun?" The huff shining gave as an answer was all the human needed. "You've never been to one, have you?"
  34.
  35. "It's not really my thing, no. I'm only taking you because you suckered me into it. That, and Octavia would kill me if I let you sneak out on your own."
  36.
  37. "Good. It'll be a fun bonding experience."
  38.
  39. "I'm not so sure I want to bond with you any more," he said, stifling a chuckle.
  40.
  41. "Trust me - it's worth it. You haven't lived until you've felt the floor and your body shake to music."
  42.
  43. "That doesn't sound fun at all."
  44.
  45. "The floor is alive with people. Race, gender, religion - it all means nothing in the face of music. You don't see harmony like that very often."
  46.
  47. "Wow, that was-"
  48.
  49. "It helps that the music is pretty awesome too."
  50.
  51. "There it is."
  52.
  53. Anonymous swatted the tip of one of Shining's ears, looking around the crowded streets. Ponies here, there, all going about their business. There was a certain excitement in the air, though only barely. The farther they traveled, the more the human began to notice the buzz. The more he looked around, the more ponies he noticed seemed to be heading in the same direction.
  54.
  55. "Just how popular are these sets?"
  56.
  57. "Apparently very. So much so that the Royal Guard gets involved from time to time."
  58.
  59. "Nice. Sounds like home."
  60.
  61. Closer and closer to their destination, the more ponies seemed to congeal around them. The buzz was intoxicating now, enough energy surging through the human to power a small car.
  62.
  63. "I swear to Celestia, if you make a mess on my back I'll use you like a rug."
  64.
  65. "Not my fault you're slow."
  66.
  67. Silence fore a few more minutes, with a distinctly faster pace, was broken by a low thump in the distance. Listening carefully, Anonymous could hear a rythm. The faint song increased in tempo, exciting his heart rate. Louder and louder the thump became, until the human finally noticed there were no other buildings in the area. They were on a walk way that was rather isolated, but the crowd of ponies around them was still just as busy and bustling as they had been in the city.
  68.
  69. The auditorium in full view now, the human could clearly see the domed top in all its glory. Lights, music, a royal fuck ton of ponies and a stage. This. This right here was exactly what the human wanted - no, needed. Octavia had great taste in music, sure; but dammit he missed a concert like this. Sooner than he'd expected, they were in the main lobby - admissions, rather; but something was... off.
  70.
  71. "What's with the music?"
  72.
  73. "What do you mean?"
  74.
  75. "It hasn't gotten louder since we were at the top of the hill."
  76.
  77. "Probably a dampening field or something. Not everyone likes this music, Anon."
  78.
  79. Fucking Magic. One day you'll sit down with Shining and figure something out about that ambiguous fix all that will probably shatter his mind, but that's for later. So long as the music was good enough to get lost in and loud enough to rattle his rib cage, that's what mattered.
  80.
  81. "We really should hang out more, Shining. Especially if it means more of this."
  82.
  83. "We'll see," he said, forging through the crowd towards the floor. Maybe this would help him unwind a little - it certainly did the human. The doors opened, a faint magic field pulsed in front of the pair, and Anonymous hopped off of Shining's back. "Last chance to turn back and not have Octavia kill you."
  84.
  85. With that, the human stepped through the field. The music was deafening, his bones shook in their sockets, his entire being tried to reject what was happening. He pushed onward into the abyss of pony legs, carefully weaving to and fro to avoid getting trampled. The song changed, ponies started jumping, and... well, the human was aiming for the stage. Jumping wildly with the strange ponies around him was what happened though. It wasn't dancing, but he didn't care. It was fun, and it was something he missed sorely from home.
  86.
  87. Not too far away, Shining Armor was doing the exact same thing. It was something he didn't know he needed, but damned if it didn't feel good to let go. Hell, he'd probably arrested a few of the ponies he was dancing with, but that didn't matter now. Tonight, he was sure of two things: Octavia was going to kill him and Anonymous, and they were going to enjoy this night like it was their last.
