        Discipline, Leo reminds himself. He feels the heat building in his chest as Marivel speaks. Undisguised hurt flashes through his eyes as she mentions Ghaleon--hurt, betrayal, anger. Is this how Althena tests him?, he wonders. Is it Her will that each time he trusts an outsider, that trust gets ripped away, one way or another?

        "/Enough!/" Leo's discipline cracks, and anger flows out into his voice. His eyes narrow. His lip curls. He forces himself to breathe, to contain the outburst. His people are outside. If they hear him lose his temper...

        "Get out of my sight," Leo hisses. Marivel vanishes. For a moment, he allows himself to think that Marivel did just that in response to him, and not for any other reason.

        Leo sags back into his chair, bonelessly. He feels spent, exhausted. For a moment, he wishes he had Corwynt's boldness, his ironclad resolve, but then he thinks better of it.

        It takes him a moment to notice that he's crying.
