  1. Author's Note: The following is my thoughts on DBR in its current state from Aurholm wipe to Modern era wipe. While I was playing at the end of Arcwipe I did not really get invested enough or feel I had a lot to contribute. I only played the first 3 or so weeks of Modern era but due to the wipe being transitional, I feel some points are worth covering over it. I'd like to make it very clear: THIS ISN'T A CALL TO ARMS OR TO QUIT DBR. So don't treat it like some manifesto weapon.

  5. #1. [Wipe pacing is terrible] - DBR used to be so much quicker, the wipes dead air was much less noticeable and even though you had to invest some ungodly time at least it would be over in 3 months. Nowadays this shit goes on forever and tries to pride itself on how long their wipes are even going as far to lengthen out how long it takes to get anything done. Aurholm pacing was bad, the historical era spent its entirety in pre SSJ era, what is likely one of the most boring eras you can imagine.
  6.
  7. How to fix: Stop making shit draw out and allow power growth to go quicker you dummies. I don't want to watch a wipe slowly die just because we need to spend a month or so finding one set of dragon balls.

  10. #2. [Generational/Age system is poorly implemented] This just feels...forced. Honestly, DBR is mimicking DBG in a sense while trying to be its own thing. What we get is this unrealistic situation where pretty much everyone is a kid or youth without any adults in the world. When we finally get adults they tend to just be villains since the heroes are often merked off. DBR felt a lot more like a believable setting when we had freedom of age choice and instead our number of TS/transitions marked nerfs.
  11.
  12. How to fix: Stop doing this really dumb generational thing that contributes to bad wipe pacing. Let people just make as the age they are and reward timeless with omittance to any nerfs in the TS process as per usual.

  15. #3. [Massive Reworks and overhauls in the middle of wipes] This stuff is so irritating. We go from having a stable environment to creating memes such as "The rules of magic have changed". Medical branch went from being something enjoyable to never used by me because the nerfs were so damn harsh in a game where the economy was nerfed to the ground and why? So we'd have to afk up our injuries and delay conflicts because god forbid a wipe goes quickly. Before cure and esuna got pooled together I couldn't even get my entire old T2 back which I had all wipe. Cure, Esuna and Pearl got thrown into the sig line when I had a tome with the spells in it and hoped to rp'ly teach a healer in places which lacked them. List goes on, while I find nerfs and buffs of certain things to be fine should they be broken I do not agree with the huge number of overhauls that occur midway in a wipe. That need to stop.
  16.
  17. How to fix: Make big updates earlier in the wipe and let the wave ride. If you didn't do such long wipes then you wouldn't have such strong urges to do these changes.

  20. #4.[Increasingly Restrictive Gameplay] Races becoming Semi-rare or rare. Sagas being slowly relegated to humans only one by one. The fact sagas cannot use grimoires. Sig users gaining moving in a static progression for T1 and T2 and losing the ability to just app for them. Things which used to have fluff or flavor and allowed an RPG-style of rolling and looking at IC not having overly expensive items/mechanical adds. A personal example is I went from being able to stich people's limbs back on through my heavy focus on medical to being told I need to buy a 50k res item to do so and it wasn't even on a new character. The list goes on and it just feels like a great deal of the creative flair DBR used to hold is in jeopardy. I feel this, however, will be a much more personal issue I see in DBR compared to a global one however so I have no real 'how to fix' outside of just...you know. Balance the game in a way that allows these strict regulations to be removed. Maybe make humans not trash enough that they get all the sagas.

  23. #5.[Push and pull of Good vs Evil isn't a scale. It is a toggled switch] Either the good guys completely dominate or the evil ones do. There is really no in-between that creates tension which lasts the wipe for a final conclusive battle. Oftentimes it is even all in the hands of just one or two players whereas everyone else rushes to a bunker to hide or spends the day being beaten to a pulp and voiding. This is certainly more player side though especially considering how popular the 3 am gank strategy is to push plots (at least in historical era) though I am willing to bring it up as a game issue since admin characters and events -do- contribute heavily on this front. When i'm playing a kaio and trying to do something I'd logically be capable of only to get an OOC rant from said admin about how I'm ruining their plot by "lethaling them" during a kidnap rp and not calling lethal, I get pretty heated. While I forgive this person ooc'ly, the ic stain will remain until that character is dead. This, however, is a more personal touch to the situation I've had with admin characters, something I think a lot of us will agree more with is how the hive last wipe was handled. Anytime we'd do something, they felt like an overwhelming force which could do as they pleased. It always felt like a loss and the wins never really seemed to come until the plot was ready to end rather than having a tug of war which improved both the villains and heroes overtime (which honestly could have helped with the power scaling/slow wipe mentality.)

  26. #6. [Cliques exist] This stuff is real and even outside of DBR it cannot be helped but I feel it needs to be brought up since some people still vent about it. I felt in Aurholm wipe I was sort of in a cliques and it naturally made me swoller for it. Historical and Modern era also have their own going on which admittingly if I had to call it by any name I'd say Galion cliques (even if it is a meme). That isn't necessarily a bad thing. Galion and people you'd often consider akin to Galion's 'team' often get things done and actually move the plot so it is somewhat deserved but other times it feels like it shouldn't exist.
  27.
  28. How to fix: You can't. This is a bias that will always exist and it shifts with the wipe. This is more or less my opinion on what I consider the current cliques to be while acknowledging that I myself felt a strong reason for my power in Aurholm wipe was due to them.

  31. #7. [Lack of a General Chat during the Wipe] I feel this goes without saying. A lot of us don't even really -care- about talking of the wipe. We just want to speak about stupid, mundane topics with other people in the wipe. We are a community and without such an outlet it feels dry, cold, calculated.
  32.
  33. How to fix: Well, could bring back the official general, but the players already fixed this situation anyways. We runelite now.
