  1. === General emulator rules for Sega Genesis / Master System speedrunning ===
  2.
  3. There are no "official" all-encompassing rules for every Sega Genesis (or Master System) game, but the following should apply to most games. The rules were inspired by "General rules for speedrunning NES games" https://goo.gl/pYN6AR but were designed to be as lax and concise as possible.
  4.
  5. While the Mega Sg is not an emulator, specific rules were needed due to the possible frame rate difference.
  6.
  7. Speedrun.com leaderboard moderators are free to modify the following to their liking and add it to the leaderboard rules.

  12. **Emulators**
  13.
  14. * No save states or other emulator-specific functions. Not even for reset!
  15.
  16. * Please specify the emulator used. Different emulators handle the lag differently.
  17.
  18. * Allowed emulators
  19. * Genesis Plus GX (BizHawk, RetroArch, etc.) - Recommended, but faster than console
  20. * BlastEm (stand-alone, RetroArch, etc.) - Seems more accurate than GPGX, still in development
  21. * Fusion 3.64 - Deprecated, but allowed for accessibility and ease of use
  22.
  23. * Emulator comparison

  25.
  26. **Analogue Mega Sg**
  27.
  28. * If using the "Zero Delay" buffer option, time will be multiplied by 60/59.9228 to account for the frame rate difference. This will also be done if the buffer options screen was not shown before or after the run.
