- MAIN VS. SIDE POKEMON FAN GAME DIFFERENTIATION
- A rom hack/fan game should be submitted to the "MAIN" series if it meets the following requirements (subject to series moderator discretion):
- 1. The game is either:
- A) A hack of a main or "core" series Pokémon entry (e.g. Red, Gold, Emerald, Platinum, Black)
- B) Is a fan game that follows the same gameplay style as a main series Pokémon entry. This includes any of, but not limited to, the following:
- i. Gyms - collect badges (generally 8) to advance through to the Pokémon League
- ii. Battles - turn-based system, where Pokémon fight in single, double or triple battles (options to use items, switch to another party member, or run from battle) against wild Pokémon or trainers
- iii. Stats - affecting a Pokémon's performance in battle, and which increase as the Pokémon levels up
- iv. Items - including healing, key, catching, and held items
- v. Catching - using balls to capture wild Pokémon and add to the Pokédex
- vi. Evolution - via methods such as levelling up, trade, stone, or friendship
- 2. The game must be completed (no demos, alphas, betas). As an example, there would be a credits sequence at the end of gameplay.
- 3. In addition, the following rules must be satisfied, regarding acceptance of the game on SRC: https://pastebin.com/rtWTSdpx
- Notes:
- -Any games that do not meet these criteria (e.g. hacks of Colosseum or Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, or homebrew games like Pokémon Mini) should be submitted to the "SIDE" series.
- -All games currently in the "MAIN" series who do not meet these requirements shall remain there, unless a majority of runners of that game agree to migrate to the "SIDE" series.
