  1. The Manifest Inheritors
  2. “Suffer not the alien, for they seek to usurp our place in the eyes of the Gods. Speak not to the alien, for they seek to tempt us from the true paths of inheritance. Kill the alien...For the only prayer they are worthy of offering is their screams.”
  3.
  4. A faction of the Dominion of Chaos that primarily swears allegiance to Lorgar, the Manifest Inheritors (Or simply the ‘Manifest’) are infamous in their brutal hatred of the alien whom they believe as rivals for the attention of the gods, and opponents to mankind’s ‘manifest destiny’ in service to the Primordial Truth. So great is their abhorrence for the alien, it rivals and perhaps even surpasses their hatred of the Imperium of Mankind. It is said some of their oldest members trace back to the Great Crusade, having commanded many great crusades against the terrible Xenos of that era. If so, their hate has only grown ever more bitter in the last ten thousand years.

  6. Whatever the truth, the Manifest Inheritors are talented Xenos Hunters. It is believed that they had existed for some time, perhaps even before the fall of the Damned Sector, purging Orks, Eldar and other Xenos across the stars in a quest to Lorgar and the Dark Gods. Though they may have participated fighting the Imperium during the Fall, according to legend they were most infamous for their actions against the [Censored by Order of the Holy Inquisition] that began to appear toward the end of the period. Other known actions include a key role in the extermination of a minor Hrud Migration, several hunts in Araxes to hunt and destroy Sepharum clans, and myriad other actions. The most important, however, was their role in the war against Hivefleet Gargantua.

  8. Although the specifics of the war between the forces of the Damned Sector and the Tyranid Hivefleet are little known, it is suggested by Imperial analysts to have badly depleted the Hivefleet, driving it toward Imperial space. The Manifest Inheritors already possessed significant numbers of warriors experienced with battling the Tyranid scourge prior to the Hivefleet’s arrival, and recovered tomes and legends depict the Manifest playing a key role in battling the Tyranids, boarding Tyranid ships and destroying them from the inside, driving back invasions of planets, and delivering Choir forged bio-toxins to eradicate whole strains of the plague.

  10. Though their casualties were high, each victory drew more warriors to their ranks, and many of those slain were not lost forever-Daemonic pacts and sorceries bringing the fallen once more to the fray, having only learned from their experiences. Their mastery of Daemonology allowed them to draw more warriors to the field where many other Warbands were unable to overcome the Shadow of the Warp, but they also raised large numbers of mortal followers. Whilst most of these were the common expendable cult thralls typical of Chaos’ armies, the Manifest took particular entertainment in training and equipping what may be translated as ‘Proven Hunter’ brigades. Although the specifics of these groups varied from unit to unit, their membership was picked solely from the survivors of battles with Tyranids and each trained to excel in battle against them. The most insidious of these were the so-called ‘Hunter-Slayer’ units, which specialized in hunting and eliminating Tyranid vanguard organisms, such as Genestealer cults. Though many of these Hunter-Slayers excelled at investigation and beast-hunting work, they also had a particular fondness for ‘counter-infiltration’. The most complex of these missions are rumored to have involved some manner of daemonic pacts and brainwashing techniques taught by elements of the Alpha Legion, perhaps resulting in the sudden summoning of Daemons in the midst of Genestealer encampments or using psychic beacons to allow for the location of hidden cults.

  12. In the modern day, the Manifest are notably active in Verantis, pursuing a long-held vendetta against the Tyranids. Each is a ‘Tyranid War Veteran’, in their own way, and they have been leading efforts to contest and destroy the invading aliens so that Chaos may lay claim to the sector. In Hivefleet Gargantua’s path, they are known to have seeded numerous Hunter-Slayer units, seeking to subvert rebellious populations to the side of Chaos before the Genestealers can get their hands on them and engage in bloody shadow wars against the infected populations. In cases that a world rises up in the name of the Dark Gods, vast purges of populations most infested are common-often wholesale butchery in offering to the Dark Gods. At times, cells that have lost to the Genestealer threat will even sacrifice themselves to bring the gaze of the Imperial Inquisition and other forces to the planet, often in a way that implicates themselves as Genestealer cultists instead of worshippers of the ruinous powers. On worlds deemed doomed to the Tyranid threat, it is not unknown for Word Bearer vessels to arrive to ‘evacuate’ the population, abducting them for wholesale sacrifice before the aliens can devour them.

  14. Wherever the Tyranids may be found, some element of the Manifest are undoubtedly there, hungry to slay more of the Great Devourers’ minions and prove the manifest destiny of mankin
