  3. ---
  4. Homework: write an outline and introduction paragraph for question 98, “If you were asked to send…”
  5. ---
  6. In pairs, share your outlines and give feedback. Is your partner’s answer clear? Do they have good reasons? Does the introduction make it clear what question they are answering?
  7. ---
  8. Possible “background” information in the introduction:
  9. - what it means for something to represent a country
  10. - general description of the thing you choose (so readers understand what it is before they read about your reasons for choosing it)
  11. - about how every country has something to represent it (maybe include some possible examples from other countries before your own)
  12.
  13. When you choose your reasons, make sure they are relevant to representing your country. (Not why you like the thing or why it’s popular, but why it actually represents the country.)
  14. ---
  15. If you write about something that doesn’t have a direct translation in English, make sure you explain it near the beginning of your response. (Same for a person from your country that readers might not know anything about.)
