>”why do I have to go?” Lupa whined from the passenger seat of Vanzilla.
>”It’s Easter, the day that Jesus, the Lord, ascended to Heaven. I need to bring someone to Mass.” Lyra said as she fiddled with the seat, only her and Lincoln ever drove it, but it just could not stay put.
>”Why not Lemy? He seems hapless and naive.”
>”I already tapped that well. He won’t get in a car with me on a weekend anymore. I still get him on Wednesday services though, but those are the Spanish language ones. I hope he still gets into Heaven.” Lyra said aloud mostly for herself.
>”I’m sure it amounts to the same, either way.” Lupa dug.
>”Me too. Thanks for listening, Lupa. Anyways, I’ll take you to the mall after.”
>”Fine, but I’m going to be sarcastic and pout through most of it.”
>”It’s just like having Lemy here in the car! Wait until you meet Father Dave, he is a riot!” Lyra says as she turns the keys.
>After a few minutes, they pull into the packed parking lot and jump out.
>They walk to the front of the chapel where people are greeting each other and talking.
>”Oh Lyra! Have you heard? Father Dave had to step down, he’s moving upstate.” A small, older woman says.
>”Oh, that’s horrible. Who will conduct the boys’ choir? I was sure I could convince my brother to join.” Lyra asks.
>”Probably, Mrs. Abernathy, at least until the allegations are put to rest.” The woman says.
>”Allegations...?” Lyra mutters to herself.
>”Yeah, sounds like a riot.” Lupa says.
