- Hi there,
- For clarity, most giveaways such as on Reddit are typically okay - provided there is no real money trading or other breaches occurring, the host of a reddit giveaway does not typically gain real-world profit from giving away the in-game items to other players.
- A streamer hosting a giveaway for a Supporter Pack or microtransaction is also usually fine, as the reward/prize is something that does not impact gameplay, due to being cosmetic. Typically we'd still ask that you run intended giveaways past us just to make sure however.
- A streamer or youtuber giving away in-game items on stream, however, is not okay; it borders RMT, as while it may not be intentional on the content creator's part, said giveaways can attract new watchers, which may in turn cause monetary gain for the content creator (in a lot of cases, these events are in fact intended to help channel growth). This is then effectively an exchange of in-game items for real world profit.
- The distinction basically comes down to in-game items being given away in a manner that potentially leads to/causes real world gain (even if not a direct benefit/exchange). As this is borderline RMT it's something we don't allow streamers to do in general.
- I hope this helps to clarify things.
- Kind regards,
- Kieran
- A viewer asked me to giveaway their items to whoever in chat needed/wanted them.
- In this case the first batch of items was given away immediately on the spot to other viewers. The second batch I created a public form that anyone could enter with just the link and then contacted the player directly for the giveaway. Being a viewer was not a requirement.
- I created a youtube video covering my new build guide, and then hosted a giveaway for the items promoted in the video. No requirements to enter. The entries were done through a public discord, public channel, and contacted directly through the game.
- I hosted a game on twitch where viewers could win white base items which I would chance orb on stream, and the viewer would receive the result (if any).
