  1. So, welcome back to Y4 Charms everyone! Last lesson we went over what Healing Spells are, and also gave some examples, as you might know. These are the topic for this year's Unit 1, as you might have heard.
  2.
  3. And today is no exception! Before you ask, no, we aren't learning about any spell yet. Last lesson and today will serve as your theory basis for casting said spells, besides being also important for your Midterm and Final exams.
  4.
  5. Today's lesson will be not only related to this unit, but also to the next one. As you probably heard already too, Unit 2 will cover the Damage and Combat spells. These will be useful if you, progressing in year and tier, are starting to get interested in dueling, or simply an easier way to get XP when killing mobs.
  6.
  7. But how do these two units relate? Many might be asking themselves this question. Well, some people think that duels are all about having the best damage spells, or more Nonverbals. It's actually not the case, although these factors have a great influence on one's performance in a duel. It's here that the other spell types come in.
  8.
  9. It's important to know not only how to damage your opponent, so you can win, but also how to gain advantage in other ways. For example, using Protego to deflect the spells the other person casts at you. We'll be going over attacking and defending in another lesson though.
  10.
  11. Another example would be using Episkey, one of the spells we'll be learning about. It is extremely useful, especially if you have it nonverbal. This might be your life-saver, quite literally. As it can heal, if you can get out of your opponent's range for just the time it takes to perform the movements and, if you're less experienced, to say the incantation, it will prevent you from an early death.
  12.
  13. Besides defending and healing yourself, we could also mention another way. You might've guessed it. I'm talking about… -lenny face- trolling. Of course, I don't mean harassing other people and casting on them for no reason, like most firsties do. This is in a dueling context.
  14.
  15. Casting some joke or incapacitating spells on your opponent will give you advantage, because they'll either be less able to defend/heal/attack, or they'll be raging at you, becoming less focused and more likely to mess up. Or they can become both which is a double win xD just make sure to apologise after, you don't want to be destroying your friendships because of using such spells on them!
  16.
  17. Mostly, these spells would be Hexes or Jinxes, like Rictusempra, that we've learned about before, and some others that we'll learn about next year, hopefully.
  18.
  19. But, returning to the Healing Spells, I would recommend you pay attention in the next two classes. The spells taught will be your best friends, not only in the situation we talked about today, but also on a daily basis, if you happen to accidentally take damage. You can help yourself, and you can help your friends!
