  1. BASIS>APE>BASIS
  2.
  3. It starts off mellow and cool, a classic slow and patient Basis intro. At around the 5-minute mark the jam starts to pick up some steam and by 9 minutes they build up to a peak with the beginning chords to Basis. Whamo. We begin.
  4.
  5. With Basis officially under way, they continue to take their time, slowly twisting through each beginning section. Deep, wandering Brownie basslines haunt this part of the jam, with light intertwining from Barber and a hard break beat coming from Sammy. Still patiently weaving their way through the beginning part of the song, the jam finally breaks at the 16-minute mark when Brownie drops the subtle bassline hints that lead into a joyful, up tempo peak back into the composed section of Basis. We're now at about the 20-minute mark, only a third of the way done with the whole shebang.
  6.
  7. Basis is in full throttle by now and the band doesn’t miss a beat. Ripping through the composed section like a bat out of hell, after 3 minutes it's done and the outro into Aquatic Ape has begun. Starting off basic yet evil, the jam is kept in line by a constant thumping from Brownie’s bass. Magner whips out the scanner effect for the first time in this sequence. The jam slowly picks up speed and eventually comes to a head with a full on trancefusion jam at just about the 29-minute mark. this is the first real "Holy shit!" moment of the sequence, I dare you to listen to this part and not at least tap your foot or dance in your seat.
  8.
  9. As quickly as it started the jam is over and by the 31-minute mark Brownie kicks in with the telltale bassline and now you know it: the ape is coming. Like a barrel punch to the head we enter a dark and stormy Aquatic Ape. Again with the patient (yet almost angry) jamming, the band takes their time to break into the ape. 36 minutes into this sequence and we’re faced with the one, the only, the Aquatic Ape. The band takes their time and has fun with this one, belting out the lyrics like it’s one of their old favorites (one more time, one more time...). the usual Magner organ solo is light and playful and soon after the guys kick into evil mode once again to finish off the Ape.
  10.
  11. It’s about the 41 minute mark now and the Ape is behind us. With Brownies bassline still thumping behind us, Magner finally comes out and hits us with some amazing synth work. Then Brownie turns it up a notch and brings the beat to a fever pitch. stomping like a German troop through Paris, Magner keeps up with the synths as Barber keeps the jam going with skillfully placed guitar chords.
  12.
  13. Down, down, down the jam goes, building down further and further at an alarming rate. Barber hitting some flat out haunting chords, the jam plunges further and further down into the unknown. it all swirls into an almost evil carnival style jam before coming back up to form into a brief blissful, fast paced (but still downward moving) jam. At around the 47 mark Sammy kicks in with the heavy toms and Brownie follows with the thundering bass bombs. Something is starting to build. Still falling, the jam is starting to reach its bottom. Swirling, swirling, the jam starts to get loud. Loud and heavy and evil. Magner kicks in with the alien laser beam synths which nearly blows you head off as the jam rages on behind him, thumping and stomping. 51-minute mark and we're nearly at the end of this falling, black hole of a jam. But instead of smashing to the bottom, we are softly picked up and swept to the heavens.
  14.
  15. At the 52:16 mark Barber kicks in with the guitar chords that start off probably one of my all-time favorite sequences in all of biscuits. Back with the scanner effect, Magner’s synths whip by us like a strong breeze. Barber takes the helm and leads us through absolute perfectly played guitar chords, skillfully weaving his way in and out. Starting out slow and safe the jam quickly picks up with Sammy setting the pace. Brownie follows behind Barber as they build their way up, up to the peak of the jam. They reach another Bisco moment, with a jam so quick and up tempo you feel the need to dance yet so gracefully executed you can’t help but stand there with your mouth wide open. They take their time right before the peak, but then Barber cuts loose and unleashes his inner-shred which brings us right into the blissful brilliance that is the Basis ending. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am, Basis is back baby. Cutting through like a knife through hot butter, the boys finish off basis with a huge, guitar-wailing bang. Wow.

  17. "Thank you all very much guys, we had a great time tonight. we'll see you tomorrow night at nirvana."
  18.
  19. And it’s over.
