  1. 06[21:31] * Rosa is, well, nearby the KE offices that house their High Threat Response Division. Today she's dressed much the same as always, and a popped zit bleeds just a bit on her cheek.
  2. [21:32] <Rosa> [To: Ms. Adler - Um, Ms. Adler? Are you in your office? I... I need a safe place right now. Nothing's happened you don't need to worry...]
  3. [21:35] <Odin> [Uh huh. *siiiigh* You know my door's always open kiddo. But DO tell me what's happened, ok?]
  4. [21:37] <Rosa> [Nothing! Nothing's happened. Just... I just need a safe place for a bit, that's all.] She talks aloud as she comms the message with her brain, heading in the doors of KE.

  6. [21:41] <Odin> The dual guards on the front door, a familiar sight to you, tag you with the standard security tag. Ms. Adler has already vouched for you, but the tag ensures the Knights have a close eye on your movements.
  7. 06[21:43] * Rosa knows the procedure by now and lets it happen, heading on up to the HTR offices.
  8. [21:44] <Odin> Your commlink has the AR guide, with the usual "Stray from the path and you will now be considered trespassing warning" Not that you need it, what with your techno brain.
  9. [21:45] <Odin> Ms. Adler's door is the only one that's open. "Aren't you supposed to be in class right now?" she asks you.
  10. 06[21:46] * Rosa understands they mean business, and does so, heading directly to Ms. Adler's offices. She balks at the question, backing up a bit, and nods. "They were picking on me..." she says meekly.
  11. [21:48] <Odin> "And? You can't run from your problems forever. Ever considered punching one of them in the face? They'll leave you alone after that. Promise."
  12. [21:49] <Rosa> "...my mom would get sad..." Rosa says, looking at the floor. "...and I'd get in trouble."
  13. [21:52] <Rosa> "...Any luck with the Seattle U shooter?" she tries to change the subject.
  14. [21:55] <Odin> "And? She'd be a lot less sad if you were in class, learning an actual skill."
  15. [21:56] <Odin> "Besides, some people just need to be taught a lesson before they'll learn anything."
  16. [21:56] <Odin> That's a Dragonslayer for you. Direct, and to the point.
  17. [21:58] <Rosa> "...I do my homework..."

  22. [22:04] <Odin> Ms. Adler makes a great show of checking her shoulder holstered Predator, her hip-mounted taser, and "Special Situations" bow with quiver leaning against the door frame. "Right. Wanna try that one again?"
  23. [22:05] <Rosa> "Like, to be nice to people even if they're not nice," Rosa says. "A friend is better than a foe and stuff."
  24. [22:07] <Odin> "And when that person's dead set on BEING your foe?"
  25. [22:08] <Rosa> "...I call you? ...Or Ms. Metzger..."
  26. [22:11] <Odin> She looks to the heavens, her lips faintly moving in what's either a prayer, or a call for advice from the Dragonslayer.
  27. [22:11] <Odin> Or for that matter, both at the same time.
  28. [22:12] <Odin> "Look kiddo. You can stay here this time, but it's the last time until you punch one of those goons. Bam, right in the face. I know you can do it, you just have to believe in it yourself.

  30. [22:13] <Rosa> "...and then they'll beat me up..." Rosa says, frowning. "...I'll try, okay?"
  31. [22:15] <Odin> "I'm a cop. I deal with bullies every day I'm on the clock. And sometimes off it, but..." She coughs. "I know bullies. They'll fold at the first sign of anyone standing up to their shit."
  32. [22:17] <Rosa> "...I bet it's been really busy this week for you."
  33. 06[22:17] * Rosa reaches out with the resonance, feeling out nearby nodes.
  34. 03[22:19] * Wyld ([email protected]) has joined #Seattle72
  35. [22:19] <Odin> "Eh. High profile cases, but it's always busy. You're lucky I'm even in here right now."
  36. [22:20] <Odin> Dozens of node's assault you. Ms. Adler's commlink, her computer and it's hard-wired connection into the KE servers, the OOU(Office Operating Unit) controlling the lights and everything else, the watchful eyes of the security camera... you open yourselves to the Resonance, and the Signal washes over you.
  37. [22:20] <Rosa> "I've been having nightmares since the Seattle U thing. I really hope you catch them."
  38. [22:22] <Odin> "Bah. Probably just some fucking kids with Daddy's money. We'll catch them soon enough."
  39. [22:27] <Rosa> "...I hope so. Um. Thanks for letting me stay here for a bit..."
  40. [22:29] <Odin> "Only because I like you so much. How about a taser? 10,000 volts to the nads 'll drop even the biggest piece of drek messing with you."
  41. [22:31] <Rosa> "...I'm not allowed to have one at school," Rosa says, well aware that the scanner picked up the yamaha pulsar in her backpack.
  42. [22:32] <Odin> "And? They're not allowed to shove you in the locker either."
  43. [22:33] <Rosa> "The coach keeps them from getting in trouble."
  44. [22:34] <Odin> "Hrm. Probably can't tase him. But you're saying if he was gone, you could go for it?"
  45. [22:37] <Rosa> "...no. Not that. No no no." Rosa shakes her head repeatedly. "Ms. Metzger is working on getting him fired."
  46. [22:39] <Odin> Her eyes suddenly track to a location three feet away from your face. "Son of a... Listen, you can stay for twenty, but then you gotta get out of here bye kiddo" This last part is said as she's on her way out of her office at a near sprint, picking up her bow along the way. The door swings open and wide.
  47. [22:40] <Rosa> "Be safe..." Rosa mumbles as the officer charges out.
  48. [22:41] <Rosa> Once the coast is clear, she moves over to the chair, basking in the signal of the computer.
  49. [22:42] <Odin> Bubbles float across the locked screen.
  50. [22:42] <Rosa> She stretches out with the resonance, beginning her work, weaving threads of resonance into her stealth form.
  51. [22:43] <Rosa> Her eyes roll back as she drops into VR, wide open and showing only white.

  55. [23:01] <Rosa> After examining the node, she slips in past the firewall, her persona a much more beautiful and slightly Amazonian idealized version of herself.
  56. [23:04] <Odin> The node is done up in a rather barebones neo-noir style. Impossibly high stacks of case files climb into the heavens like skyscrapers, and gumshoe detectives crawl through the neon streets, searching for evidence in the smallest of cracks. Judging by the (many) graphical errors you're spotting, it's clear Ms. Adler doesn't spend too much time VRed into her computer node. That, or she's too cheap to splurge on proper sculpting.

  71. [23:33] <Odin> Your brain feels awash in the sheer information density of the main nexi for the building. Icons swarm around your hidden Amazon, and you count at least two Spiders, GODS of this little world keeping watch.
  72. [23:34] <Rosa> Adrenaline and hack-happiness fueling her, Rosa initially forgets to analyze the server's node, but remembers halfway through. She jumps through the firewall at security access.
  73. [23:36] <Odin> The cop theme continues on to the main server, the node sculpted like a almost perfect facsimilie of the building, the connecting points to other nodes in the same location of their physical computer.
  74. [23:37] <Rosa> Just like the black hat taught, she starts with cleaning up the access log.

  76. [23:41] <Rosa> That done, it's time to get what she came here for.

  81. [23:47] <Odin> After putting the search query into the nexi, the system spits out a encrypted file. For an encrypted file, this deep in the security system of KE.... this is some HEAVY stuff you're looking into.

  83. 06[23:52] * Rosa frowns. Encryption is so annoying. It's like, 'I'm important, but you can't look!' Rosa goes back to the access logs, looking for an admin's ID.

  86. [00:03] <Rosa> She gives a grin as she nabs it, glad that her Paragon taught her how to mute alarms. She spoofs a command through the admin to get the file sent to her bio node, then passes it to her 'link. Job done, she logs out...
  87. [00:03] <Rosa> Now all that's left to do is clean up Ms. Adler's computer.
  88. [00:07] <Rosa> Waking back up in meatworld, Rosa sighs and releases her empowered Stealth. She has about 15 minutes to hang out so it doesn't look suspicious, and does so.
  89. [00:08] <Odin> Three minutes after you're finished cleaning your Resonance off of her computer, there's a loud and sudden banging on the door that practically scares you out of your skin.
  90. 06[00:10] * Rosa does jump out of her chair, at least.
  91. [00:11] <Rosa> She sends the file
  92. [00:12] <Rosa> to Suriel, then purges it from her commlink.
  93. [00:12] <Rosa> And with that, shuts off her bio-node.
  94. [00:15] <Odin> The door clicks open, and one scary-ass cop in full body armor with associated less-intimidating-but-still-scary Security Hacker next to him. The intimidating cop talks first. "Ms. Rosa? What precisely are you doing in here?"
  95. [00:16] <Rosa> "I needed a safe place so I came to see Ms. Adler? She said I could stay here for a little bit..."
  96. [00:18] <Odin> The guard cop looks at the hacker. The hacker nods. "Right, so you're in the system. And when we talk to Officer Adler later, she'll vouch for you?"
  97. [00:20] <Rosa> "Mmhm. Yes... I'm not in trouble am I? I'll go back to school... I just don't like getting picked on so I snuck out..."
  98. [00:22] <Odin> "Yeah, this ain't the first time the brat's shown up before" the hacker says. "Ms. Rosa, I'm going to have to ask you to surrender your commlink for a moment." His tone makes it clear that he's not asking.
  99. [00:22] <Rosa> "...she says I should punch my bullies in the nose so they leave me alone... Please don't tell my mom I'm being truant ...again."
  100. [00:23] <Rosa> "...of course..." she hands it over. "...did so
  101. [00:23] <Odin> "Truancy is a local matter. You're lucky we're not the Star."
  102. [00:23] <Rosa> ...something happen?"
  103. [00:25] <Rosa> "...I'm not a brat..." she says quietly, now staring at her shoes.
  104. [00:25] <Odin> The guard Knight opens his mouth to say something before the hacker cuts him off. "Routine procedure for anyone left inside with secured files. Officer Adler carries a lot of respect around here, but even she can get in trouble with the top, you understand me?" He plugs his datajack into your comm, and his eyes twitch for a good few minutes. Finally, he disconnects it and hands it back to you.
  105. [00:26] <Odin> "I've never seen a cleaner commlink in my life. Not even any terrible fanfiction."
  106. [00:26] <Odin> "You're free to go."
  107. 06[00:27] * Rosa nods a bunch, accepting her 'link. "I should probably get back to school... Ms. Metzger's class is starting soon."
