  7. Subject: Parcel Tax Survey
  8.
  9. Dear President Ramsey, Dr. Harter, and board members,
  10.
  11. I received a telephone call this evening that was a survey for a possible
  12. November parcel tax on the ballot. After attending last week's board
  13. meeting, I assume this was the survey mentioned at the board meeting that a
  14. consultant was being hired to do.
  15.
  16. The person who called had great difficulty reading the survey questions.
  17. Several questions were read in such a way that you could only answer in
  18. favor of the measure, while others were worded in such a way that you could
  19. only answer against the measure. The person who called me referred to the
  20. "exciting" parcel tax, rather than the "existing" parcel tax. The caller
  21. also referred to the "Vast" Contra Costa Unified School District, rather
  22. than "West" Contra Costa. The errors in reading were frequent and obvious.
  23.
  24. I am very disappointed with this survey, especially after hearing at last
  25. week's board meeting that up to $33,000 would be spent for this survey. I
  26. definitely don't feel that the district is getting a good value for their
  27. money. I also can't help but think how many classroom supplies $33,000
  28. would buy. I sincerely hope that voters are not swayed by the district's
  29. choice of consultants hired to do this survey! It was not presented in a
  30. professional manner, and is a poor reflection on the district.
  31.
  32. Sincerely,
  33. LG
