- This movie has little connection with the 1932 original. It does, however, have lifted footage (tinted to more-or-less match the color), including obvious footage of Weissmuller's vine-swinging. Miller is not once called Tarzan in the movie, and his yell is also lifted Weissmuller. The elephants who wreck the pygmy village are lifted/tinted from the original, but the "pygmies" (real in the original) were kids from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. Costumes are left over from "King Solomon's Mines" so that more stock footage could be lifted. And the crocodile fight is taken from "Tarzan and his Mate"
- This is a dreadful film. It's not even bad enough to be amusing. I heartily agree with all the previous reviewers, but what does really surprise me is that some of them received poor marks: Two out of five and four out of nine? What do people expect when they read a review? A load of garbage or someone's honest opinion? Okay, so here's my contribution: <br/><br/>In my opinion, this seems to be a Jewish update of "Tarzan", complete with a Jewish heroine who knows the Old Testament backwards and would rather die rich than muck around in the jungle. That's certainly a novel approach and I'm not knocking it. Cheetah is disposed of rather early in the piece when Jane's dad shoots the chimp dead when she is clowning around. And there are a few other surprises in store for unwary viewers, including the fact that, despite the film's title, Tarzan himself has such a small role. In order of importance, the main characters are Jane, Jane's dad, the dad's friend, the dad's friend's friend, and last and least, Tarzan.<br/><br/>Production values are certainly resourceful: Obvious travelogue cut- ins and even tinted black-and-white footage from earlier Tarzan movies that are no longer protected by copyright. Yes, Johnny Weissmuller rides again, including his underwater fight with the crocodile. <br/><br/>I could go on, but, all in all, this is a fascinatingly inept entry of really awful film-making. One thing for sure, it's never dull. For all the wrong reasons, I should give it a six or seven, but that wouldn't be honest. Maybe I shouldn't rate it at all?
- After watching this I had to write a comment about it. So many actors played Tarzan, so many directors directed Tarzan, so many actresses played Jane but this one is one of the worst acted and directed Tarzan Movie. Tarzan swings on the Liane to one place to another and then back to the former place. The Movie begins with a hilarious scene about a Watusi on a board of a steamer. We'll never found out what he was doing on the ship and why some wounded leave the ship. I've not seen a Tarzan Movie for a while and of course not all were masterpieces but at least somehow entertaining. This is entertaining but on another way. So bad that's funny and annoying too. There are some bad footage taken from an old BW Tarzan Movie. What did they thought the audience wouldn't recognize black & white scenes in a color movie? There are also other footages taken from other movies. Most of the scenes are terrible hilarious. BTW what is a spider doing on the top of a mountain? Aren't Pygmies people of short stature? Please watch out the attack of the natives. Interesting Tarzan cannot doesn't say many words only the scream in that. The scream is clearly taken from Johnny Weissmuller but I don't think that he would like this movie. Next to the Bo Derek Tarzan this is the worst. Better you don't watch it.
