Divine Inspiration

A figure sits atop a throne. Well, you wouldn't call it much of a throne. No gold. No jewels. Hell not even any silver. Doubt you'd be able to move it for very much, and you sure wouldn't be caught dead on it. But hey, someone calls it a throne, probably (granted someone whose tastes aren't as fine as your own for real loot). What does impress you, though, is around the throne. Treasure. Treasures great and powerful. Stuff of legend. The hand and eye of a long dead lich, a machine from an age long past with technology from the far future. Ancient swords and staffs of power, magical decks of cards. This isn't a score; this is THE score.
Suddenly you hear a voice from the throne call out to you. You can't quite make out the details, but from the heavy necklace around his neck you would know them instantly. Shai. The patron god of your people; people gifted with the fine tastes for the better things in this world.
"Troubles brewing, kiddo. I don't really know how to handle these whole "visions within a dream" thing, but I ain't exactly got a lot of followas so I figured 'Hey, why the hell not just talk to the kid.' Dark times ahead. Talk of war between the great cities. Betcha it's 'cause of the cult. It's all related. But shit, I don't need ta' tell you that, you can spot horse shit as well as anyone. It's gonna get a hell of a lot darker before it gets to be dawn kid, but hey, our kind do our best work in the dark. Take it to 'em, and never stop looking for that next big score. I know you kid, you'll use whateva you get for the right reasons. Good luck."
You awake just as dawn breaks. You feel it. A new power wells within you, a gift for your devotion. What did the dream mean? Well I suppose it's plain, a lot more plain what what you'd imagine a divine dream might be like, but that's why Shai was the god for you. Your destiny lies ahead of you. You and your friends, you will stop that cult! Just as soon as you're done looting that pyramid...
