- The setting of this rp is a Holy Grail War. A magical construct, called a holy grail (although different from the ACTUAL thing, and barely if at all related to it), is the source of it all. Seven magi (humans, who possess something of a spiritual-nervous-system called Magical Circuits, that allow the processing and transmission of mana/magical energy into spells, that form a discipline called magecraft) normally, summon seven familiars, called Servants.
- Servants are the highest order of familiars, originally spiritual entities, manifested through the Third Magic/Heaven's Feel (one step up from magecraft: while magecraft can bring about natural/possible results through impossible/supernatural means, magic can achieve the impossible. In this case, the third magic achieves the physical manifestation of the soul), and placed into vessels. These vessels, are called Classes (there are more than seven classes however).
- The Servants then fight each-other, for domination. The last one standing attains the holy grail, and can express one wish, to be granted. The Master is the summoner of the Servant and must usually supply them with a stream of mana/prana/magical energy. Normally, most of the energy needed to keep a Servant manifested, is provided by Gaia/the planet itself, and the effort a mage has to put in is nominal. But even then, stronger Servants require more mana. The power a Servant outputs, may change from Master to Master.
- A master with more prana, will generally allow a Servant to fight closer to their peak/expected performance. A Servant that expends a lot of prana, may even disable their Master. Specific abilities or skills of the Servant, may increase prana consumption for their duration, or require an amount of prana to even activate. Not all Masters can provide it.
- Each Master is normally given three command spells, which are magical seals, that can be expended to bind the Servant to the Master's wishes. Normally the Servant doesn't have to obey the Master, but the command spells change that. The more specific and quicker/more immediate the order is, the harder is for the Servant to resist it. Specific Servants or Servants with specific abilities may have an easier or harder time resisting these command spells.
- A Master needs to supply prana to the Servant. If the Master perishes, then the Servant will, in almost every case perish too. If the Servant perishes on the other hand, the Master losses access to the command spells he has, and is considered a non-participant. However, Servants can make contracts with different Masters, and change allegiances, or make a new contract after their Master is dead. A Master can do the same, with a free Servant, if the respective Servant and Master are dead.
- Sleeping Masters, may sometimes receive dreams that show parts of their Servant's life.
