- >1:03 A.M.
- >The time is displayed on the bottom right hand corner of your computer monitor, as you browse the latest Doki general, smoking a cigarette and sipping on some whiskey.
- >This place has been the only thing to bring you any sort of joy this past long while.
- >While playing the game, you fell for Yuri. Something about her sophisticated nature spoke to you, and you were smitten.
- >You immediately began posting in /ddlc/, talking about your love for her with your fellow dokifriends.
- >And of course, all of you wished for that promised day. It was something that gave you hope, that one day you would have the girl that would make life worth living.
- >But it seemed that day would never come. Things were bleak.
- >You were stuck in a dead end job, making too little for too much. Couldn't leave, had nothing lined up, and not like anybody would hire you.
- >Thus, in concordance with your low-paying job, you had to live in the only place you could afford. A shitty, one bedroom apartment in a bad part of town. The power went out at least once a week, you had bug problems constantly, and you had to purchase something for home defense.
- >You had gone to the pawn shop and picked yourself up a Wess and Smithon .357 revolver, partially because it was cheap and partially because it made you feel cool.
- >Fortunately you never had to use it. However, you felt like tonight, you might.
- >Pulling open your desk drawer, you look at it. Shining silver, and easy enough; open mouth, point toward roof, and it's all over.
- >You looked toward your pack of smokes. You still had a few left.
- >May as well finish em off before you turn the lights out.
- >You continue smoking in silence, reading the thread. It was awfully slow tonight; the usual suspects of euros and late night burgers posting about their dokis.
- >You guessed that made sense; while it was your weekend, it was a Monday night. People with actual jobs probably were in bed by now.
- >The thread's contents were the usual sort, your doki but posts, your doki butt posts, people posting about their dokis and how they love them.
- >You type up a message, saying how much you love Yuri. Really pouring your heart out, saying you'll see her soon. A fitting last message.
- >Time moves on as you strike up another cigarette. The thread moves even slower; shitposts trickle in about a few other things such as bricks and milk.
- >One anon even posts saying that the promised day is here, and that he's so happy. He loves Natsuki!
- >Pfft, you'd seen that post before. A part of you was happy that other people could still dream on, but you felt a bit of resentment that you couldn't feel the same way.
- >You down your whiskey, and go to pour yourself another glass, instead opting to take the bottle with you.
- >No point in being civilized.
- >The thread continues to slow. You look at your collection of Yuri photos, and listen to some music through your headphones.
- >The promised day isn't coming. Your only hope is that there's some sort of afterlife.
- >Then, a knock at the door. You're a bit tipsy, but still in control, and you're immediately on high alert.
- >The time is now 1:45. Who in the hell is knocking on any door at this time of night?
- >You pick up your pistol, and lean up against the door like you've seen in the movies.
- >At least if you're getting robbed you might get killed instead of killing yourself.
- >After a moment, another knock.
- "H-Who's there?" You ask in the most menacing voice you can muster.
- >"Anon? Is that you?" A feminine voice responds.
- >You don't remember having any female company. You move your eye toward the peephole.
- >Standing on the other side, a bit too close to the door for you to see much, is a light-skinned woman. Violet eyes. Matching hair.
- >Did you pass out from the whiskey, or did you just not remember shooting yourself? What the fuck?
- "...Yuri?"
- >"Yes! Oh, Anon, it is you! I've waited so long for this day! Let me in!"
- >Well, shit.
- "Uh... just a minute!"
- >You stash the gun in your drawer. Won't be needing that tonight.
- >You take a second to breathe. You straighten out your hair a bit, and button up your shirt to almost the top.
- >Gotta look somewhat presentable.
- >You turn the deadbolt, move the latch, and unlock the doorknob lock.
- >Swinging the door open, the purple haired doki is taken aback.
- >"Oh. You're a lot more..."
- >Ugly as fuck.
- >"...Handsome than I imagined."
- >She's blushing, and you realize you are too given the compliment.
- "T-thanks. You're about as pretty as I thought you would be. Probably a bit more."
- >An awkward silence fills the air as you stare at each other.
- "So, uh, come on in!"
- >You respond as cheerily as you can, stepping to the side to let her in.
- >You close the door back as she enters, and as soon as you do she assaults you with arms around your chest.
- >You return the gesture, her head brushing against yours as you get a face full of purple hair.
- >Smells like lavender. Smells like happiness.
- >She pulls herself away, still keeping you in arms reach, and you smile at each other for the moment.
- >Her attention is drawn away by the sound of distant music. Your headphones are still playing, and she sees your computer. /ddlc/ is still open.
- >"Oh, is this /ddlc/? We always joked about it in /hhbm/, I didn't know it was actually real." She noticed the lining by your post, showing it as yours. She read it, and you let her.
- >She was silent once more, her eyes welling up with tears of joy as she read. Suddenly, she turns to you again, and grabs you in another hug.
- >This one is accompanied by a kiss, which you were not prepared for. However, you let instinct take over, and you react in kind.
- >She pulls away again, a slightly puzzled look on her face.
- >"Anon, have you been drinking?"
- "Uh... yeah, a little."
- >Booze breath. Nice.
- >"Well, I can't really tell you what to do with your free time. You're responsible, right?"
- "Yeah, of course!"
- >Responsible enough to drink at least once a week, almost a full bottle when you do.
- >"Alright, then. Maybe we'll drink together sometime." She giggled.
- >"Let me make you some tea, that way you won't be dehydrated in the morning." She turned to your kitchen, which was a few steps from your living room.
- >"Wait, do you have any tea? I'm so used to my kitchen that I almost didn't ask."
- >As a matter of fact, you did. You bought some tea leaves and a tea set after being inspired by her. You rarely drank it, but it wasn't half bad.
- "Yeah, in that cabinet up there." You point towards a cabinet.
- >She sets to work making it, and you sit on the dingy old couch in your living room.
- >You think about how things have been going. How things will go now.
- >You'll have to get a better job to sustain the two of you.
- >You can't go on living in this roach den, and you're not gonna put her through it.
- >But how?
- >As you ask yourself this, she sits down beside you, setting a cup of tea on the coffee table for herself and handing you one.
- >"Drink up, Anon! I made it with..." Her blush grows stronger, as her eyes avert.
- >"With love."
- >You take a drink.
- >It's amazing.
- >She's amazing.
- "Thank you so much, Yuri."
- "For this tea, and for being here."
- >"You're welcome... and thank you, as well."
- >She cuddles up to you, and you sit there in the dark, drinking tea together.
- >Things feel right.
- >Damn it all, you'll start looking for a new job in the morning.
- >You'll make it work if you've gotta force a way.
