- **For a9lh users, if you dont have a9lh follow plailect's guide (https://plailect.github.io/Guide/) for installing both a9lh and luma3DS**
- Changing from any CFW to Luma3ds
- You are more likely changing CFW because either you want something updated or your old CFW no longer works as intended for various reasons. This mini-guide will help you changing from your current CFW to Luma3DS. After this you will use Luma3DS as your CFW.
- What you need
- Latest release of Luma3DS (https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/latest)
- Latest release of Hourglass9 (https://github.com/d0k3/Hourglass9/releases/latest)
- Aeskeydb.bin (https://plailect.github.io/Guide/torrents/aeskeydb.torrent)
- Changing CFW
- 1-Delete from your SD root folder the "arm9loaderhax.bin" file.
- 2-Unzip from the Luma 7zip file (dont confuse the 7zip extension with luma's version) the "arm9loaderhax.bin" file to the root folder of your SD.
- 3-In your SD root create 2 folders, one named "luma" and the other "files9", place the aeskeydb.bin in the Files9 folder and inside the luma folder create another folder named "payloads".
- 4-Unzip from the hourglass9 zip "hourglass.bin", rename it to "start_hourglass9.bin" and put it in the payloads folder you created before.
- 5-Put the micro/SD back in the 3ds and turn on, you will be greeted by the luma3ds configuration screen:
- Turn on the following options with A,after you are done press start:
- -“Autoboot SysNAND” (Only if you use sysnand as your main nand, if not dont turn on this option)
- -“Show NAND or user string in System Settings” (This will show if you are either in sysnand or emunand in system settings)
- If you are using a New 3DS, you have also the option to turn on this option for better performance in games:
- “New 3DS CPU” to “Clock+L2(x)” (This can cause some issues with some games like final fantasy explorers)
- *For changing luma settings again hold select when turning on the 3ds*
- 6- After all this your 3ds will boot your sysnand/emunand successfully with all the previous installed content as it was before.
- Backup (Optional but recommended to have a backup, Make sure you have at least 1GB(o3ds) or 1.3GB(n3ds) of free space)
- 7-Turn off the 3DS and turn it on while holding start, this will boot Hourglass9 from the main menu go to your sysnand/emunand options (select the option according to the one you are currently using) then select sysnand/emunand Backup
- and , select nandmin.bin as the name of the backup and press A. This can take a while.
- 8-After making the backup, insert the SD in your PC, go to the files9 folder in your SD root and copy the nandmin.bin and nandmin.bin.sha files to your PC. These will be your backup, if something happen your 3ds, you can restore that backup with either hourglass9 (a9lh still working) or a hardmod (a9lh not working).
- With this you are done with changing to luma3DS, for changing luma3ds configuration, hold Select when turning on the 3ds and for booting Hourglass9 hold start while turning the 3ds.
- Optionals
- Updating a9lh (https://plailect.github.io/Guide/updating-a9lh)
- This is not really needed, since the original a9lh not much has changed so far, "v2" from Arurora Wright added the possibity of using bigger arm9 payloads. "V3" added the possiblity for sdless boot, for that you need to update a9lh following the section of plailects guide linked above.
- Moving emunand to sysnand (https://plailect.github.io/Guide/move-emunand)
- If you want the space that your emunand uses back, have problems with DSiware or you just want to no use emunand anymore, follow the linked section of Plailect's guide for moving your emunand to sysnand. This will move everything on emunand, so after the movin emunand sysnand will have the same firmware version as the emunand and all the installed content associated with it.
