  48. There is a great deal that can be said about being in a world such as this, to be fair. It is not a world for the faint of heart. It is not a world, in fact, that most would enjoy being in at all.
  49.
  50. As I had for some time up to this point, I kept part of my mind on cracking Skynet's database. I did not intend to, say, conquer the world with technology - that would be counterproductive - but there are other things that might be done. Aiding people here. Stepping in and advising a ruler there. But it seemed quite curious that anywhere I had a hand in personally interfering, it proved to be undone or corrupted somehow.
  51.
  52. Even trying at one point to overthrow a minor (if brutal) tyrant went wrong; things were fine for a short time, but trying to educate the populace went awry in the worst ways. Tyrant? No, he'd been oppressing deviants and cultists who wanted to rend reality apart... or at least so it appeared in hindsight.
  53.
  54. Most vexing.
  55.
  56. So I took a new approach; instead of directly intervening, I began to take a more... circumspect route. Find promising individuals, give them the tools they needed to make a difference. Usually not in a literal case, though occasionally... well, it turns out that hyperalloy can keep a very keen edge when turned into a sword, and it is surprisingly light.
  57.
  58. But no. My crowning achievement was the creation of an artificial warrior. Years after my arrival, I'd cracked the process that Skynet used to disguise its infiltrators and make them blend in with humans, and used magic to shortcut its creation rather than needing an assembly line to make an army of them. With a few false memories programmed in, and the application of an actual personality, and he was set loose upon the world to carve a way through its evils.
  59.
  60. He gained and lost much, but never did his steps falter. He didn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. He found friends and allies, and he and his companions sought adventure. Many wars and feuds did he fight. Honor and fear were heaped upon his name and, in time, he became a king by his own hand.
  61.
  62. But that is a story for another day.
