Digiverse episode 2

Inside an abandoned building with the sun setting down in a room that seems to be a office room with some desks here and there, Byleth is sitting on a chair across from Jalen who's busy staring at her while he sit on the edges of the desk arms crossed and with a small frown. Behind her, Guilmon is busy eating through all the snacks that she had in her backpack while Veemon, while eating some of Jalen's food as well, is doing it as a far slower way with some manners.

"....." The silence Jalen's giving Byleth is making her nervous as she gulps and press her hands on her laps.

"...So.." He finally make a sound with a sigh and rubs the back of his head. "Let's start from the beginning...how did you acquired Guilmon over there?" He points to see Guilmon trying to understand the lack of food in Byleth's backpack as he hold it upside down and let all of her notes and school supplies fall down much to her dismay as she run back and quickly put everything back inside with Jalen sweatdropping as well as Veemon. "Uhh..." She turn back to him with a nervous smile as she pets Guilmon on his head "He just came out of my computer late night in a red egg while I was trying to sleep..." "And your digivice?" Seeing how lost she was, he hold up his own which prompts her to nods and pull out her own out of her backpack.

"....You should keep that on you at all times." Jalen scolds her for the lack of awareness as she shrugs. "Well, I never really felt like I need to..." "That Digivice there is the connecting source of power between us and our partners." As Jalen crosses his arms, Veemon finally speaks up. "Yup! Without that, we can't digivolve!"

"Digivolve?" Byleth turns to Veemon who nods with a smile. "Yeah, it's what we do whenever we changes forms to the next level!" He hold up a hand and begin to count on his fingers. "There's Baby, In-Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and finally Mega!" Jalen nods and get off of the desk and walk towards the others. "Veemon and Guilmon are currently in their rookie forms, what you saw earlier with Veedramon is Veemon's Champion form." Giving a cautious eye to Guilmon who move closer to Byleth and growl at him only to stop once she pets his head again. "Strange how he doesn't talk..." "All digimons can talk, but some are just better at it than others..." Veemon rubs his chin in thought as Guilmon still glares at Jalen who put his hands up to placate the digimon before sighing.

"Maybe I should start off different...I'm Jalen Uchiha." He hold a hand out to Byleth who takes it and stands up. "I'm Byleth Eisner, I've heard of you..." With a nervous smile, she adds on. "Not..much flattering rumors on you." "I assume they are consisting of me ditching classes, ignoring authority figures, and me ditching my sport clubs?" Raising an eyebrow at his correct assumption make him sighs "Well, now you know WHY I did all of that.."

"Can't say I approve of ditching classes, but...I understand." "Well, you're gonna be aiding me from here on so get used to it."
Byleth let go of his hands with a shocked expression. "Eh?! I can't do that, if word gets out of me doing all of that, my grandma would kill me!" "Who's she and why should we be concerned?"

"Oh, she's only the.."Byleth roll her eyes and casually check her nails "The Archbishop of the United States Church of Seiros." Jalen's expression doesn't change, but she can tell when someone is filled with the realization of them standing before the granddaughter of the most powerful person in the states, moreso than the president even.. "...oh..."

"Hey, Jalen, what's an Archbishop?" Veemon scratches his head not understanding what's being discussed. "Imagine someone who can decide on a whim what can be allowed and not allowed..." Veemon look down at the ground with his arms crossed... "So...she's strong?" "Not in the sense you're thinking, but yes..." Jalen answers back as Veemon groans. "Aw..."
"Yeah..if she ever hears a peep...she can and will take me away from my father and place me in one of her elite private schools to look over me." Byleth doesn't sound too happy about this. "....Sounds like a big family problem.." "That's just scratching the surface.." She adds on with Jalen taking this in. "However..I'll still try to help out."

Jalen look at her with a neutral expression before nodding. "Thank you.."
"Now...can we please go home?" She begs him with a pouting look. "I told my dad I would be home as soon as possible and no doubt he's worrying over me!" Jalen peek out the window, ignoring her claims as he sees no police cars driving around. "The coast is clear, de-digivolve Guilmon to his in-training stage and put him in your backpack." Jalen point his digivice at Veemon and make him revert to Demiveemon who hops inside of his bag and get comfy as Byleth fumbles with her own, struggling to find the command as Guilmon look at her confused. "...." Jalen walk over and take her digivice and find the command and place it back in her hand as she points it at Guilmon who turn back to Gigimon and get inside of her bag. "So-sorry..."

"No worries, I'll teach you all that I know of these guys..." The two begin to leave out of the building and walk on the sidewalk. Soon enough they get to the crossroads where they can go to their respective homes. "Allright, I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" She ask Jalen who nods with a calm look. "(With a new partner, maybe things will be much easier...then again, I don't know how good she is in battling, so I have to teach her stuff like the 2 type charts and what not..)" "Jalen?" "!"

He blinks and turn to her with a small smile on her face. "Huh?" "Nothing..you were just staring off to space.." "..I was thinking on stuff is all..." He look away as he is suddenly hugged by her and turn to her with a shocked look. "I forgot to say Thank you for saving me and Guilmon..."
He's glad she's not looking at him cause she would see the blushing expression as he awkwardly hugs her back with one arm. "Just...just be ready for tomorrow cause I am gonna train both you and Guilmon after school." They let go of each other and Jalen soon set off on a faster pace of walking with Byleth waving at him. As they get farther away from each other, Demiveemon pops out of the backpack and look at Jalen. "Jalen, your face is all red, are you sick?"

"No."
"Your heartbeat was going so fast, I could hear it from your back..."
"...I'm fine, Demiveemon.."

Demiveemon don't believe him, but decided not to press any further. "(Humans are weird, but they kinda cool too!)"
With Byleth who is walking home, she reaches her house and open the door with her key as she sees a note on the table telling her that her dad will be out later than usual to deal with some disturbance downtown. "(That must be where that fight happened..I should tell Jalen that my dad is also the chief of the police here in chicago..)" She head to her bedroom and place her backpack on the ground as Gigimon scurries out and jump on her bed as she get on her desktop and browse through Twitch as she get on discord and see her friends, Rhiannon, Lucina, Yang, and Edelgard on. "I need to get his discord number as well, shit!"
She look at the general channel where Yang seems to be posting some pics of the battle, as her heart drops. "Oh, fuck, if she finds out what I was doing, it'll bring in too many questions!"
Quickly using her mods powers, she begin to delete the pics, much to Yang's ire.
[Golden Dragon]: "Hey, wtf!
[Goddess of Food]: "Sorry, can't risk having such pics in the discord lest the authorities peek in."
[Golden Dragon]: "Dude, like they actually gonna come in here!"
[Horse Whisperer]: "Hey, if Byleth don't feel comfortable with that stuff in here, then they can be deleted."
[Golden Dragon]: "Shouldn't you be looking at some more horse pics for 'studying', Rhiannon?
[Horse Whisperer]: "......You don't understand, this is for some data collecting!]
[The Emperor]: "Stfu, Yang"
[Golden Dragon]: "Look, I'm not judging at all, but--"
[Cerulean Paladin]: "That 'But' is the harbinger of doom."
[Goddess of Food]: "LMAO"
[Horse Whisperer]: "Kek"
[The Emperor]: "LOL"
[Golden Dragon] : "Fuck all of y'all...anyway, I think the police are trying to cover stuff up. I know when I see monsters and this is NOT part of some movie shooting! Someone here can ask around and see what's going on..."
Byleth roll her eyes at the hidden suggestion.
[Goddess of Food]: "No, Yang..I'm not gonna ask my dad on this stuff for your curiosity.."
[Golden Dragon]: "PLEASE, BY!?!?"
[Cerulean Paladin] : "Can we drop this shit and move on to a more worthy subject concerning my swim meet this week?"
[Horse Whisperer]: "Yes, let us worship Lucina for the upteenth time, even tho she don't really deserve it.."
[Cerulean Paladin]: "What was that?"

[Horse Whisperer]: "I said what I said."
Byleth giggled as her friends always go off on one another, but all enjoy themselves with the company as she stay on for the rest of the night...looking forward to whatever Jalen have in mind for her.
