  1. The date was 17th of Snowdown, Lightshield IV 37. The Lightshield empire had just entered its nineteenth year of ruling the former Tepes, and it was even the day before the eve of 'Turning day', the holiday is dedicated in honor of Lightshield's victory over Tepes in the Rematch for the Southern Provinces, which ended the war over the former Tepes land. Sticking to its name, it was indeed snowing outside during snowdown, a good few inches even, but the roads were cleared out of snow, including any trails or in between the major roads, making it worlds easier for travelers to visit families in other towns for Turning Day.

  3. This kingdom was formally ruled by a Vamperic Monarchy, but they weren't exactly the best rulers. They often favored the vampire population, which was only a little bit above 1% of the nearly one billion population to the land that was twice as big as the mongol empire. This lead to a massive gap between the upper and lower class, with little to no middle class, and the enslavement of Humans, the native Firbolgs, and many nomadic Elves. This reign went unopposed for a near three hundred years, enough time for four different rulers. On the fifth ruler though, Tepes V, the Monarchy began to fall to the Lightshield family.

  5. What people called the "Great War" was the first action of Yvant Lightshield IV when he obtained the throne from his father. The first king ensured that the Lightshield kingdom would not attack the Tepes family if they did not attack either. This truce remained until Lightshield IV. To this day, no one knows if it was actually because he disliked them monarchy, or if it was because he had a personal hatred for the Vampire race. On the 8th of Newleaf, Tepes V 47, Lightshield IV had couriers hang posters on every town center of every major city. It read "Attention citizens! The time is now to take the Tepes head, and his kingdom!"

  7. The first ten years of the war was a stalemate. Just constant taking of border cities, then losing them almost immediately after. Both kingdoms were fighting well, until the first of green leaf twelve years into the war . The Light shield kingdom made a massive campaign, taking the North, East, and West provinces in just months. This pinned down the Topez family in the southern province, but they did not give up then. When Lightshield made what he thought would be the final push, he lost nearly half of his military in a massive two week battle, sending the Lightshield military back to the northern province with their tails between their legs.

  9. However, the war reached its major turning point on the 1st of snowdown. It was what people called "The battle to end all battles". The Rematch for the Southern Provinces was a one day battle, both militaries sending in the remaining forces to a large flatland grass plain. In the middle of all of this were Both Lightshield IV, and Tepes V. forty five minutes into battle, Lightshield had Tepes' head on the end of his blade, holding it to the sky as his troops let out a battle cry. This encouraged them enough to trample over the opposing force within ten minutes, leaving the Lightshield family to hold all provinces.

  11. Not soon after, at the crack of dawn on the 18th of snowdown, the final siege had begun. Lightshield soldiers began to storm Epagos, the capital of the Tepes kingdom. Under pressure, and desperate to keep his regime alive, Tepes VI, prince and now king, took a desperate, but necessary measure. The newborn princess was sent off with a knight, taking an underground route out of the city, and fled from the capital as it fell to the Lightshield kingdom behind him. The knight made a two week journey on horseback to the edge of the kingdom, in the wasteland known as the ‘Deadwoods’. The area, as large a small kingdom, was filled with nothing but dead, hollow trees. However, deep inside this area was a tribe known as the Adubon. They were a mercenary tribe who assisted Tepes in many wars before hand, however refused to help in this one due to the risk that came.
  12.
  13. The knight arrived in a carriage, and with him he brought enough fortune and valuables to keep them, and the next few generations after them drowning in gold. However, in return for this, the knight asked for one favor: Raise the princess till she is old enough to rule, and when she is… put her back in power of the kingdom.

  15. It's now present day, and the time has come. A week ago, the Adubon headquarters located in Edith, the capital of the Adubon Tribe, held a one on one meeting with you. You were briefed on a mission that was classified as ‘S+ Tier’, which was the first S+ tier mission since the assassination of Queen Elizabeth Wilhelm III, which took place more than thirty years previously, and was a key turning point in a previous war for Tepes. To give an idea, that mission was only the second S+ mission in the tribes 150+ year history.
  16.
  17. The details were not given, but they were made it was involving Anastasia Tepes. They were told the mission would take anywhere from three months to two years to complete, depending on the efficiency of the people accepting this mission, and that their lives, despite their rank, was at a high risk here… However, despite this, Failure was not an option. Accepting the task was not required, but accepting it was a big burden to carry.
  18.
  19. Upon accepting the task, you are told to meet at the ‘Two Headed Boar’ Inn in Edith a week from that day, and to meet Anastasia Tepes in the corner of the pub to be briefed on the mission in further detail. It would be a VIP mission to bring the girl back to her former royal status, however that was the last detail given before you were dismissed. The day has now come, and the journey begins…
