  1. Advanced Troubleshooting List
  2. READ THROUGH EVERYTHING LISTED HERE
  3. Note that these steps are limited mainly to the steam version of the game. Some can be applied to the windows store version however. First, before using this list, check these links directly below and make sure that nothing there resolves your issue before continuing on with troubleshooting.

  20.
  21.
  22.
  23. These steps are meant to be completed in order from least invasive and easy to do to complicated and risky if you don't know what you're doing. Do NOT do anything if you don't know what you're doing. They can, however, be completed in any order.
  24.
  25.
  26. You should reboot after every step that modifies system files.
  27. You should attempt to run the game after completing every step.
  28.
  29.
  30.
  31.
  32.
  33. 1. Navigate to \steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic
  34. Right click FSD.exe and select run as administrator
  35. If the game launches then exit it. You won't be able to play it this way since it doesn't initialize steam connectivity and will stay at connecting to steam forever.
  36. You're looking for an error message, typically a .dll which failed to run correctly. Usually this is DirectX related, but it can be audio related too. If you get a windows error message then skip to step 10 then proceed. Everyone else proceed with the list.
  37.
  38. 2. Make sure you have the latest updates installed for both the game, windows, and your graphics drivers.
  39.
  40. 3. Change your windows audio quality to no higher than 32bit 192000 Hz.
  41.
  42. 4. If you have malwarebytes installed I recommend disabling it as it has the potential to create crashes in certain configurations.
  43.
  44. 5. Run UE4PrereqSetup_x64.exe as admin located in \steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us
  45.
  46. 6. Place -dx12 into launch options. As of U32 utilizing DX12 has no major graphical issues, but it still contains graphical issues and may result in crashes with no crash report when alt-tabbing.
  47.
  48. 7. Place -dx11 into launch options (after removing -dx12). This will force DX11 in the event that the game wants to run DX12 on your system (steam only).
  49.
  50. 8. Do a clean install of your game. This means making a backup of your saves in \steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames and deleting any residual files from DRG.
  51.
  52. 9. Reinstall your graphics drivers making sure to do a clean install.
  53.
  54. 10. Physically unplug/disconnect any controllers from your computer.
  55.
  56. 11. Systematically go through Device Manager, locate your audio drivers, right click, properties, driver, and attempt to Update Driver on all of them.
  57.
  58. 12. Temporarily disable any Realtek audio drivers you have in Device Manager.
  59.
  60. 13. Run a surface scan on your computer in an elevated command prompt.
  61.
