  1. During the great technological revolution of 2089, when both economy and living quality increased, Earth had become the home to 24 billion people. Well, theoretically. A large chunk of those people had long since moved away from this rock floating in space, off to a different rock. Anyway, although most governments praised all forms of equality- based upon gender, race, sexual orientation, religion and other factors- humanity faced another issue. Human individuality. Having 24 billion people around meant you weren’t exactly as special as you might have been just a couple decades ago.
  2. Several governments took example of the internet, where every single person required a single, available username to use the web, and, in 2090, 6 governments (The republic of Sweden, The allied Baltic states, The Canadian Union, The Mediterranean isles, Republic of Korea and the Chinese-Russian alliance) joined in a cross-country law adjustment, demanding that in each of these countries every single person required an ‘unoccupied username’, meaning that each person born in said countries had to be given a name that no other citizen had.
  3. The 6 governments, now collegially referred to as ‘The Username Convention (UC)’, allowed for, theoretically, any name to be given. This resulted in inappropriate names to be given, due to the generation giving these names out being the generation during which online powers turned to actual, physical powers. For those of you reading this further into the future, the following websites were actual countries for certain periods of time: 4chan, Facebook, tumblr, Google (Historians claim it could’ve become as powerful as the Chinese-Russian alliance, if it weren’t for certain mistakes and coincidences.), Yahoo and Reddit.
  4. Due this issue, in 2091 the UC started a new intelligence agency- the A.D.M.I.N (Association for Democratic Moderation of Internet Names). This agency was responsible for observing and moderating names given to the citizens of the convention. If a violation was detected, the name was forcibly changed and the parents/guardians naming the child were punished accordingly.
  5. In 2092, five more governments joined the UC: USA, Mexico, the Brazilian federation, Japan and The British Kingdoms. More governments joined from year 2093 to year 2107. In 2107 every country had officially become a member of UC.
