  1. He needed subjects. He needed something to continue testing things on. He went around the Wychwood observing the lesser yokai. Then he had it. He opened his father’s notebook to exactly those pages he needed. The movements and habits of the lesser yokai. Within Hours he knew everything about them. Every facet of their instincts, nature, and more typical actions. He would stalk them.
  2.
  3. Then he had his opportunity. He Impaled the creature through its shoulder, and forced it to submit. He placed his hand on its back, heating it up and leaving a mark on its back. After it was forced to submit, he took it back to the house, and chained it in the upstairs room. He began his runic experimentations immediately.
  4.
  5. Days were spent on this. The creatures would live like kings, fed well the flesh of their brethren until the runes failed. An error, some short circuit or mistake, and they were fried. Torn from within. Their mana circuits destroyed and their souls rended. Then he’d go out and find the next victim. Feeding him first the previous, and picking up where he left off as if nothing had happened.
  6.
  7. And on this went. He was testing these runes. At its peak, he had five different lessers there. All chained, observing and making his own studies as he began to take his first steps into depravity. But it couldn’t be wrong. These foul creatures were the spawn of darkness. He was doing his part to exterminate the vermin that continued to germinate about the place. It wasn’t bad if he learned a thing or two from tormenting these poor creatures. Or if he just happened to enjoy it.
  8.
  9. Then he had it. The patterns. The circles. It started to make sense. He needed it to start making sense. He took the yokai and began to slaughter them en masse. He had all the information he needed. He understood how they worked and interacted. They were no longer needed. Pawns to be sacrificed to the pyre. He looked about. It was about time he got his first real test subject. He smiled maliciously as he strapped himself with his armor and helmet.
  10.
  11. It was going to be a good day. A great day. A glorious week. A wondrous time.
