  1. Official SpainPvP Network Staff Guide v3?
  2.
  3. Keep in mind that you are obligated to read this guide. Once you have read it, make sure that you have replied to this thread saying ‘Read and Understood’. Everything written here applies to every single platform and must be followed by every single member of the Staff team. You will be notified about any changes made in this guide through the announcements channel on Discord. For any questions regarding this guide, please contact any member of the Staff team, though we recommend you to contact a member of the Senior Staff to prevent any confusion.
  4. This guide contains everything, this includes the rules of the Staff team and everything compiled from the other guides located in the Staff discussions forum.
  5.
  6. Things to keep in mind:
  7. Any confidential Staff information (e.g any post in the Staff discussions forum, everything we talk about on Discord, in-game staff chat) may not be shared with non-Staff members
  8. Abusing of your powers will not be tolerated
  9. Being inactive will result in a punishment unless you have made a leave of absence post
  10.
  11. Evidence of all the punishments you issue must be saved on your computer for 15 days. Once these 15 days are gone, you may remove the evidence(-s)
  12.
  13. Keep in mind that you must show professionalism. We want our players to see that we have well trained and professional Staff, therefore please try to be as much professional as possible though don’t get out of the line!
  14.
  15. Following the punishment table is mandatory. Any punishment you issue without following the guide must be immediately revoked by a member of the Senior Staff team. If you perform a wrong punishment, contact with a member of the Sr.Staff instantly, otherwise you may get in trouble
  16.
  17. VIP and Friend members are only allowed to be dealt with by the Senior Staff team. If you see a user who owns one of these ranks and he is violating the rules, contact with the Sr.Staff team member through Discord providing evidence
  18.
  19. Remember that being a Staff member is a volunteer job, where you are not getting paid. You are dedicating your own time by watching over the Network and enforcing every single rule of the server to be applied on every single platform
  20.
  21. If you see a Moderator violating one of the server or staff rules, immediately report him to the Senior moderators. Though if you see a Senior Mod breaking the rules, report him to an Administrator
  22. Lying to Sr.Staff is strictly forbidden. If you get caught lying, you will be punished.
  23.
  24. Any suggestions for this guide must be informed to any sr.staff through a private message on Discord
  25. Always check the history of a user before punishing them
  26. Make sure to read the following:
  27. These rules are put in place by the senior staff team of the network and are expected to be followed in any case at any time. This is also expected to be signed with the read and understood message. After it has been signed, you hold the responsibility for your actions you will perform in the future and if any statement of this or any other guide for the Staff is not being followed, will result in either a simple warning, strike, or a demotion from the Staff team with low chances of reapplying for the position
  28.
  29. Any attempt to share this guide with non-staff members (includes ex-staff) and/or use it on your own will result in an immediate demotion from the Staff team
  30.
  31. This guide is not a subject to be explained on the training, though it’s up to the trainee and the trainer’s decision whether to explain it or not
  32.
  33. Any statement written in this guide is subject to change at anytime. Any member of the administrative team has the right to change any point in this thread at anytime
  34.
  35. In-game rules overview and recommendations:
  36. Breaking any of the rules stated in the official SpainPvP Network rules and/or in this thread will not be tolerated
  37. We strongly recommend you to insert the offense number of the punishment you have issued in the reason (Example: Spamming [2nd Offense]). It will be easier for the Staff team when checking the history of a specific user
  38.
  39. Before changing your Minecraft name, contact with a member of the Senior Staff team. If you won’t do so, you are liable to get in trouble
  40.
  41. It is up to you if you want to issue a warning before punishing someone. You may directly mute him, or you may first issue a couple of warnings before doing so. Keep in mind that you don’t need to issue warnings for ban offenses, for example hacking, usage of disallowed mods, teaming, ddos/death threats, sharing personal info etc.
  42.
  43. It’s recommended for you to pay attention to the reports. Usually people complain saying that they report someone a thousand of times and nobody is there to punish them, that’s why you should check the reports too. You may use a really handy command /reports command to check the most reported online players
  44. Forum rules overview and recommendations:
  45. Make sure to deal with the forum reports. This is something you must do as a moderator, not only moderate the Minecraft server, but also deal with different forum reports, because we are lately getting quite a few of those
  46. Community corner is a forum section that requires moderation too. This is the most used forum section and the one where you will mostly find someone breaking the rules, therefore you may want to check out the posts made in this forum
  47.
  48. You have to deal with general support forum posts. This is a forum where people usually ask for help, tell the issues they are experiencing, and moderators and the first line of people who have to answer and help them as soon as possible
  49.
  50. Clan section must be moderated too. Every single Staff is responsible for everything related to Clans, therefore you also need to check out this forum too
  51.
  52. Any post that has to be dealt by a member of the senior staff team should be locked and some senior moderators should be tagged in your reply. After that, nobody may deal with the post, except for the Senior Staff team members
  53.
  54. You may lock and/or delete the post if this has been requested by the thread poster. If you have locked the thread and then the poster asks you to re-open it, feel free to do so. If he is asking you to un-delete the post, contact with a member of the Senior Staff team
  55.
  56. Make sure to respond to every single user that trying to reach you. Whether it’s a private message, a ‘special’ thread on the forums or a post on your profile, you have to reply to the user no matter who is he and what are his intentions
  57.
  58. Keep in mind that the rules don’t use to apply in the miscellaneous forum section, or map submissions, ideas and suggestions and etc. They usually are applied to the news & announcements and community corner
  59.
  60. Another thing to keep in mind that threads with the ‘Guide’ prefix will never be locked for example for necroposting or anything related. If someone broke the rules in the thread and it should be locked, you may only delete the message and warn the user by private message. The thread may only be locked if the creator decides to
  61.
  62. Due to the fact that Moderators don’t have sufficient permissions to punish users on the forums, if you see a user breaking the rules, whether he doesn’t need to be warned and he has already been warned but kept doing the same thing, you have to contact with the Senior Staff team member providing evidence of the specific user violating our rules so that the Sr.Staff will punish him on the forums
  63. TeamSpeak rules overview and recommendations:
  64. Any channel whose name is violating the rules must be immediately removed. A second attempt of a user to have a custom channel with an inappropriate name will result in a punishment that you must issue
  65.
  66. The rules are not applied to the custom channels nor Senior staff offices unless it’s a DDoS/Death threat or sharing personal information
  67.
  68. We strongly recommend you to use an account with another identity that doesn’t have the moderator rank. This isn’t something you must do though we recommend you to because usually when you join a public channel with lots of people in it they see that you own the mod rank and they usually stop breaking the rules, that’s why you may join with another identity, if they are breaking the rules, record them and then punish them from the moderator identity
  69.
  70. The ‘Poke if needed’ and ‘Off duty’ ranks may only be assigned to yourself. You may not assign this rank to any other Staff member nor other users
  71.
  72. The ‘Mute’ and ‘Sticky’ are ranks used for the TeamSpeak moderation. Once you have assigned one of these ranks to someone for violating the rules, always make sure to remove it before you disconnect or go AFK. If the user disconnected and you did not have enough time to revoke the rank, contact with a Sr.Staff member if you believe his rank should be removed
  73.
  74. If you are going on leave, you will be assigned a ‘LOA’ rank on the TeamSpeak. This rank automatically assigns you the ‘Don’t Message (Staff Only) which will disallow non-staff users to message you. During your stay on leave can moderate TeamSpeak or any platform if you want to, but it's not obligatory
  75.
  76. If a donator demands to assign him the ‘Don’t Poke (Staff Only)’ rank, you will have to contact with a member of the Senior Staff so that they will assign it to him
  77.
  78. If a user is asking to assign him any donator, VIP, friend or a Staff rank, you will also have to contact a Senior Staff member
  79.
  80. Discord rules overview and recommendations:
  81. All the channels must be used properly.
  82. The #staff-announcements channel is used to post different news about the server. Only the Senior Staff team members are allowed to post there. If you want to post something there, ask to a Sr.Staff to approve it first
  83.
  84. The #brokenmaps-reports channel is used to report bugs with maps found on the Network.
  85.
  86. The #off-topic channel can be used to talk about anything. A channel with ‘freedom’
  87.
  88. The #moderation-help is used for Staff and moderation purposes only. If you are having any question about the moderation, or you are not sure if the evidence you have gathered is sufficient or not, you may ask it in this channel
  89.
  90. The #srstaff-request is used to contact with a Senior Staff member. You may use this channel to ask a senior staff for a dm or to publicly say your request
  91. Direct messages should also be checked out. Sometimes we might message you something really important, that’s why you should check your DM’s everytime you are online on Discord
  92.
  93. Participation in every single channel is a plus. This is handy if so you want to get a good mark on Discord platform in your activity check that you recieve at the end of each month
  94. Phishing Links
  95. ?
  96. “Phishing is the attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money), often for malicious reasons, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.” - Source: Wikipedia
  97.
  98. Usually users attempt to phish the Staff members in order to gain access to their account with the moderator rank that we possess on the Network and after the phishing process.
  99.
  100. Here we have some tips for you to avoid being phished:
  101. If you don’t know the link, you better not click it.
  102.
  103. If someone sent you the link on forums, when you point at the link, in the left-bottom corner you’ll see where this link redirects you. Please watch it because sometimes people mask the link. For example they put http://spainpvp.com. But when you click it it sends you to http://youtube.com. Basically like that people can mask normal websites to phishing ones.
  104.
  105. If the link was sent to you on TeamSpeak, you can do the same thing. Point at the link and in the bottom-left corner it will show you the real link (And yes, it is possible to mask links on TeamSpeak too).
  106.
  107. If you have clicked on the link and it says to you to login in an unknown website, please close the link and to prevent any dangerous action, change your password of minecraft account, email account or mojang.
  108. If you have clicked the link and you feel like your account may be compromised, message a sr.staff immediately.
  109.
  110. Moderator Meetings?
  111.
  112. Moderator meetings is a place where the Senior Staff team tells you, the moderators, about different news, announcements of the server. On almost every single meeting we announce a mod of the month (motm) (for those of you who don’t know, motm is a rank given to a moderator for doing a good job on all of our platforms. At the end of each meeting we answer some pre-submitted questions you ask us in a google doc which is usually given in the announcement on Slack and then we have a live Q&A where you may ask us a question and/or give us a suggestion live. Meetings usually are being hosted at the end of each month or at the very beginning of the month (Always on weekends). For those who are not able to attend the meeting, don’t worry, we always have at least two moderators recording the meeting!
  113.
  114. Staff Commands Reference?
  115.
  116. Punish commands:
  117. /gban <player> <reason> - Command used to permanently ban a player
  118. Example: /gban Kentir Hacks: Speed
  119. /gmute <player> <reason> - Command used to permanently mute a player
  120. Example: /gmute Kentir Spamming [4th Offense]
  121. /gtempban <player> <time> <reason> - Command used to temporarily ban a player
  122. Example: /gtempban Kentir 3d Teaming in FFA [2nd Offense]
  123. /gtempmute <player> <time> <reason> - Command used to temporarily mute a player
  124. Example: /gtempmute Kentir 1h Spamming [1st Offense]
  125. /gkick <player> <reason> - Command used to kick a player
  126. Example: /gkick Kentir Teaming in FFA [1st Offense]
  127. Notes:
  128. It’s recommended to add the offense number in the reason
  129. In the temporary punishments, here’s the time reference:
  130. s - seconds
  131. m - minutes
  132. h - hours
  133. d - days
  134. Useful and important commands:
  135. /history <player> [category] - Command used to check someone’s punishment history.
  136.
  137. /bat lookup <player> [category] [page] - Same as /history, but this command will also allow you to check the punishment pages. Insert the page number which will have to be an integer and if the specified player has that amount of pages, it will be shown
  138.
  139. /m - Command used to put yourself into vanish mode which will also give you the ability to fly. This is a toggling command so if you are already vanished then after performing the command you will be unvanished and set to the normal player’s mode
  140.
  141. /sc <message> - Command used to send a message to the in-game staff chat
  142.
  143. /tp <player> - Command used to teleport to the player that is connected to the same server as you
  144.
  145. /gtp <player> - Command used to teleport to someone that is on another server
  146.
  147. /disguised - Command used to check all the disguised players on the server you are currently connected to
  148.
  149. Leave of Absence Reference
  150. ?
  151. If you are going to be absent and will not have access to at least one of our platforms, you will have to make a leave of absence post. Leave of absence does not have specific limits though you may not go on leave for over six months, which will be illogical.
  152.
  153. If you are going to be absent for less than a month you may contact a Senior moderator to approve your leave, though if you are going to be absent for more than a month you will have to get in touch with an administrator. The reason of your absence should be logical, however, we understand that sometimes you may have have of motivation of being a Staff and you need some time to get it back, you may go on leave because of that reason too.
  154.
  155. The leave of absence post is located here: http://spainpvp.com/loa
  156.
  157. The approval of a Sr.Staff team member must be asked through Discord. Once your leave has been approved, you may copy the template found in the first post of the Loa thread then paste, fill it and post it. If you want to get your LOA rank on TeamSpeak, ask a Sr.Staff to give it to you.
  158.
  159. Staff Events?
  160.
  161. There are a couple of events that are exclusive for the Staff team in which you may participate. I’m not going to go over details of the events as you may find them in the event’s thread but going to explain a little about each of them:
  162.
  163. Staff Games. This is an event which is currently not up since there were some issues with all the minigames we have scheduled therefore we had to stop it for a while. This event is about our Staff members playing a competitive minigame between each other. For more information about this event, check this: http://spainpvp.com/threads/spainpvp-staff-games.10516/
  164.
  165. Foreign Language Event: This is an event where you may teach other Staff members the language that you know and most of others don’t. This is usually useful when it comes to the moderation of languages on our platforms. For more information visit this: http://spainpvp.com/threads/foreign-language-event.14714/
