  1. For reference, here is some general info about the rolling mechanics for RTA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1gTS4YOjHQ
  2.
  3.
  4. One of the first things that come to mind, when comparing TAS to RTA, is the Continues Roll trick. Normal when rolling, you have to jump before the roll ends, otherwise Diddy/Donkey will come to a full stop.
  5.
  6. For a TAS you can start a new roll during the first one without dropping any speed. This is done by pressing Y, no input, Y+B and Y. (You could also go YB, YB, no input, YB, YB, no input etc.) What happens is that Diddy will start to make a jump, but you cancel the jump by starting another roll.
  7.
  8. Because of this, almost every level in the game have different "routes" between the two, as the TAS can just continue rolling while RTA needs to keep jumping.
  9.
  10.
  11.
  12. As for the clip you posted, the glitch for Croctopus Chase. The setup to do this glitch is actually very easy: Enter a beaten level, throw a DK barrel and start+select before it hits the ground, enter a level and take a hit and have your character fall down a pit (Landing on the ground will softlock you). Enter a level with an Animal Buddy, destroy a DK barrel and you'll first activate the Split Up glitch to be able to control both Kongs at the same time. Mount the animal with the Kong that came out of the barrel and kill the other Kong. Now, when you enter a level which has an Animal Buddy, you'll be riding the animal which you mounted in the previous level. If you enter a water level, as seen in the clip, you'll avoid the water and run around normally.
  13.
  14. Playing a water level like that is however very tricky and you can easily get stuck, which is why it is not done in RTA. As seen, wall hit detection is a bit faulty and you can jump through walls and ceilings at many places. Problems that can occur is that you could fall very far down and be unable to get up again.
  15.
  16. The camera is the main issue here. For you to be able to beat the level, the camera must be close enough to spawn the exit point. It first off moves very slowly, as you weren't supposed to move this fast in the water. And if you don't follow the level layout somewhat, the camera will get stuck.
  17.
  18. While people have done this RTA, it will likely never be used in a run, because of the difficulty to optimise and how little time it will end up saving RTA.
  19.
  20.
  21. Then there are several minor things, some that RTA can do as well, but the TAS just do them more often, like Barrel Boosts. Not sure if you want small things as well...?
