  1. Space Program Challenge.

  3. General rule: All Kerbals must be capable of returning home. If you strand a Kerbal somewhere, you had better go and rescue them! And make sure you take plenty of screenshots, (F1 key, screenshots found in your KSP game folder) especially of key moments required for each mission. You don't have to do the missions in order.

  5. President John F. Kerman has given a speech earlier today for the whole planet Kerbin to hear. He calls for the Kerbal Space Program to put a Kerbal on the Mun and return them safely to Kerbin. This is a multi-step program.

  7. CHALLENGE ONE: RENDEZVOUS
  8. -This challenge is only necessary if you're not comfortable with rendezvous and docking yet, and if you intend to use rendezvous and docking for the MUN-SHOT.
  9. -Basic Challenge: Launch two spacecrafts, at least one must be crewed and both must have docking ports. Launch one into orbit, and using one of the crewed spacecrafts, launch the other into orbit and rendezvous and dock with the first.
  10. -Extra goals:
  11. --Use the EVA jetpack (enabled with the "R" key or by clicking the RCS button on the nav-ball) to transfer a Kerbal from one vessel to another through space.

  13. CHALLENGE TWO: AROUND THE MUN and MINMUS
  14. -Basic Challenge: Put a crewed spacecraft in orbit around the Mun, orbit at least once, then fly from Mun to Minmus, orbit Minmus once, and return safely to Kerbin. (You can go Kerbin-Minmus-Mun-Kerbin instead if you like, the important thing is you orbit both moons and return to Kerbin.)
  15. -Extra goals:
  16. --Use the same design as your MUN-SHOT mission but without the lander or landing equipment.
  17. --Send three or more Kerbals.
  18. --Include science experiments in the mission and run them in orbit around each moon.

  20. CHALLENGE THREE: MUN-SHOT
  21. -Basic Challenge: Send a Kerbal to the surface of the Mun, plant a flag, and return them safely to Kerbin.
  22. -Extra goals:
  23. --Send two or three Kerbals to the surface of the Mun.
  24. --Use Munar-Orbit Rendezvous like the Apollo missions did--send up two spacecrafts at once, a lander and a munar orbiter.
  25. --Include science experiments in the mission and run them on the Mun.
  26. --Include a rover, either as a detachable vehicle, or built into the lander itself.
  27. --Land on the Mun, then land on Minmus, in the same mission.

  29. CHALLENGE FOUR: DUNA'T FORGET TO GO TO DUNA
  30. -Basic Challenge: Land a crewed spacecraft on the surface of Duna, plant a flag, and return safely to Kerbin.
  31. -Extra goals:
  32. --Include science experiments in the mission and run them at Duna.
  33. --Bring a rover or make the lander into a rover.
  34. --You can do a direct rocket mission, assemble your ship in orbit, and/or use Apollo-style duna-orbit-rendezvous and keep the return ship in Duna orbit. (In KSP, Apollo-style isn't actually better than direct ascent for the Mun, but it IS better for Duna.)
  35. --Include enough living room (crew modules) in the spacecraft for months long interplanetary spaceflight.
