- [15:20] Bayezid Gazi exclaims, "Hey!"
- [15:20] Aricles Alline says, "Greetings."
- [15:20] Bayezid Gazi says, "I've been meaning to uh..."
- [15:20] Bayezid Gazi says, "Meet with the other residents here."
- [15:21] Aricles Alline says, "Ah? Things have been a little quiet, given..."
- [15:21] Bayezid Gazi says, "No doubt you've met my brothers... Possibly."
- [15:21] Bayezid Gazi asks, "Huh? The giant demon attack?"
- [15:21] Aricles Alline says, "I have. One was asking if anyone could arrange him a marriage."
- [15:21] Bayezid Gazi says, ".... Yeah.... Him...."
- [15:21] Bayezid Gazi says, "I'm sorry about that."
- [15:21] Aricles Alline says, "The Queen died, and so have a lot of other people from here."
- [15:22] Aricles Alline says, "I mostly stay on the mainland, and just return to store things away here."
- [15:22] Bayezid Gazi says, "I see... I've been actively working on revitalizing the economy here."
- [15:22] Bayezid Gazi says, "My brothers are uh... Well, doing whatever it is they do."
- [15:22] Aricles Alline says, "Good. Things may be quiet for a few years yet. The royal family are... Mostly all gone."
- [15:22] Bayezid Gazi says, "Hmm... Perhaps... I can do something to rekindle spirits."
- [15:22] Bayezid Gazi says, "A festival of sorts, to commenorate the fallen."
- [15:22] Bayezid Gazi says, "--and something to look forward to."
- [15:22] Aricles Alline says, "Used to be a buzzing hub of activity. Each morning I would wake to five or six people chatting away in the square, or sparring in the cave, or both."
- [15:23] Aricles Alline says, "I believe there was meant to be a festival, soon, but matters came up."
- [15:23] Bayezid Gazi says, "Hmmm... I see. It is a sad realization to see how swift things can change -- I didn't introduce myself! Sorry about that."
- [15:23] Bayezid Gazi says, "Bayezid Gazi."
- [15:24] Aricles Alline says, "Aricles Alline."
- [15:56] Aricles Alline says, "I've been around here for twenty years, or close to."
- [15:57] Aricles Alline says, "Meant to store a few things away and then get to looking for an unattunement specialist - besides myself."
- [15:58] Bayezid Gazi asks, "Unattunement Specialist?"
- [15:58] Aricles Alline says, "Aye. I used to use a sword, for many years. It's stuck, now that I'm old."
- [15:59] Bayezid Gazi asks, "Like... Someone that can do the same things as a 'Rebirth Potion'-unattune?"
- [15:59] Aricles Alline says, "That they can, though it's more difficult."
- [15:59] Bayezid Gazi says, "Huh... I didn't know people could do t-"
- [15:59] Bayezid Gazi scoffs.
- (Bayezid Gazi)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [15:59] Bayezid Gazi asks, "Who am I kidding?"
- [15:59] Aricles Alline says, "Gets harder the more you adjust your circuits, just like rebirth potions become ineffective."
- [15:59] Aricles Alline says, "This is Meranthe, indeed. Anything is possible."
- [16:00] Bayezid Gazi says, "Maybe, you're a person I can work with, for this theory I've been working on."
- [16:00] Aricles Alline asks, "Oh?"
- [16:00] Bayezid Gazi says, "Yes. I've been studying magic for a while now... I've barely managed to get ahold of the whole casting thing before uh..."
- [16:00] Bayezid Gazi says, "Using a 'Rebirth Potion' and cleansing the circuits clean."
- [16:01] Aricles Alline says, "I didn't quite know how to cast for a few years after I awoke to my magic."
- [16:01] Bayezid Gazi says, "Then, the challenged reared itself and I had time to look inward to discover -- What I had accomplished before was the most common casting technique known to Meranthe.."
- [16:01] Bayezid Gazi says, "Ah, I see -- But uh..."
- [16:01] Bayezid Gazi says, "Symbolic Casting, right? Most common technique I've come to know.."
- [16:01] Bayezid Gazi says, "Then, there's the other three..."
- [16:01] Aricles Alline says, "Nothing wrong with it."
- [16:02] Bayezid Gazi says, "Visionary Casting... Runecasting... And Wordcasting..."
- [16:02] Bayezid Gazi says, "Thus far, there are no magic I've observed that actively practice more than one of these aside for the use of a particular magic that struggles to stradle multiple mediums."
- [16:02] Aricles Alline says, "I myself am a 'symbolic' caster, and I do just fine."
- [16:03] Bayezid Gazi says, "Exactly! You're doing just fine... But what if? You could be better. Power is one thing, but perfection? That's simply the means of exacting a spell to its absolute ceiling... My theory? In practicing multiple casting technique with a limited variety of spells? One could discover that ceiling."
- [16:04] Aricles Alline says, "I never did get a formal education on magic or casting. But being able to will what I want of the ether seems easier than shouting something or drawing runes."
- [16:04] Bayezid Gazi exclaims, "Ah, that's my theory being proven!"
- [16:05] Bayezid Gazi says, "At least, on the presumption to the popularity of Symbolic magic."
- [16:05] Aricles Alline says, "I can't speak for others, but it seems like the most direct and efficient usage outside of very complex spells."
- [16:07] Bayezid Gazi says, "It's not that it's not efficient, nor direct. I'm saying that it's not as complete as it -could- be. For example, right? Barrier Magic is considered an Empyrean sort... Same as Death Magic being its counterpart of the Abyssal variety... But these are different magics accomplished via one or two casting techniques. By magus standards, they're considered the pinnacle of raw power in this domain. Surely, if my theory is sound, anything within the ethereal domain being exercised to the magnitude I intend should excel in effectiveness... Enough to -match- these extremes."
- [16:08] Aricles Alline asks, "Then, utilising all or multiple casting methods together to craft a more elaborate spell?"
- [16:08] Bayezid Gazi says, "That too, or a more 'perfected' spell..."
- [16:20] It was showtime...
- Hands opened and fingers splayed -- extending out in Aricles' general direction.
- "I've limited myself to learning a single spell in its entirety before pressing onward in my efforts, to prove or disprove this theory... Which led with me exploring the most difficult first."
- A miasma of sapphire glint oozed from his pores, shrouding his person with his meager essence. It was hardly as imposing as a developed magi would have it -- firmly planting Bayezid within the category of lesser magi by most magus standards.
- From this mana discharge? Plates of sapphire hovered just beyond his digits, soon gliding upon their touch as he wrote runic inscriptions memorized from over a year's worth of practice.
- "First Casting: Runes…"
- [Ether] [Shield] [Hand] [Deflect]
- The runes for such spun upon the disc constructs levitated before his open palms.
- Before he took to a soft inhale, and sigh...
- It was time to focus... A duet of casting styles were being enacted here. From the shining gleam of sapphire broiling up from his eyes, and crying from his lids to the air above in a wispy miasma, to the shine of his silhouette -- Willpower combined with mental prowess focusing in twain upon the efforts applied to his hands.
- "Second Casting: Visionary..."
- The strain was growing quite severe, at the mind... At the heart, yet, he dared to push himself. He was visibly shaking, pushing himself to yet another limit.
- "Third... Casting....: Symbolic"
- After all, it was best to save the easiest for last, right? Nay, there was one he hadn't taken up yet. Though, he was speaking already. What more difficulty was there to push mana up to the nexus points located within the throat? Apparently, quite difficult, because it was not condoned to immediately. It was like trying to draw one shape with one hand, and another with the remaining, all while keeping two different rhythms maintained with either foot.
- Before attempting to push himself over the edge however, he sought to explain what he accomplished thus far -- giving him just a moment's reprieve.
- "You... See... This is, uuuh… A variant... Of the 'Energy Shield' spell..." He started, "It... Has been shrunken to only fit over my hands... But, I have combined multiple casting techniques in casting it...
- Allowing me to cast it... Threefold..."
- If what he was claiming was true, then -- He was trying to discover a means of magus amplification. Making due with weakness, only to dramatically multiple the power output of the individual to compensate!
- "And now... To push it wholesale... Fourth--…"
- The hand-shields shattered, akin to glass. However, upon clamoring to the ground, they'd dissipate into azure dust whisked away into the atmosphere above.
- Immediately, the man took to his knees to pant.

- [16:34] Combining styles of casting, or really even using anything other than what he typically does, wasn't a thought which really came to his mind.
- He was able to reach greater heights than most through only symbolic casting, but that was perhaps the exception to the rule.
- Aricles was, after all, an oddity when it came to that which fuels symbolism. His will was unnatural, and emotions something he could wholly dictate and forge in an instant.
- A learned necessity.
- That Bayezid began with crafting runes seemed sensible, given they could be held for the other methods more easily, and likewise with visionary - though Aricles wasn't very familiar with it at all.
- Wordcasting does seem like the natural final step, after directing one's will into forming the spell - a final addition akin to gunpowder igniting a carefully-assembled bullet.
- He may not have been able to manage that last step just yet, but he was on the threshold.
- A matter of ensuring stability and held concentration. Merely a matter of practice, and...
- "Nearly. If you're working with ether, you should consider imbibing an attunement potion to lighten the load.
- Less effort expended will allow more room for your concentration to hold.
- With that, and practice, I don't think it'll take long for you to use all four at once."
- The amount of time required to build all those together is, of course, much too long to be of any use in combat, but perhaps dedication over the years to come could make one capable of such.
- And outside of combat? There are all sorts of uses which aren't pressed for time.
- (Aricles Alline)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [16:37] Aricles Alline says, "Actually - you could put this to work in rituals."
- [16:37] Aricles Alline says, "Where time isn't a constraint. Being able to amplify their effects would be a boon."
- [16:38] Aricles Alline says, "A long ways from that, but it'd be of great use. Particularly if you ever learn some specialized forms of magic, such as wayfinding or handling faith."
- [16:39] Aricles Alline says, "Gloomlight would be a good place to put such into practice. They're always doing some odd ritual or another."
- [16:40] Bayezid Gazi says, "Hmm... Gloomlight? I've been, but I haven't stumbled upon someone outsider of a runecaster."
- [16:41] Bayezid Gazi says, "As for an attunement potion? I suppose that would be quite the feat, if I get ahold of one. That would certainly lighten the load, now that I think of it."
- [16:42] Bayezid Gazi says, "Never considered -I- would find use for one... Perhaps, if I master it? I'll be able to print my runes. Perhaps, even take shortcuts."
- [16:43] Hamza Gazi asks, "Getting some training in, Bayezid?"
- [16:43] Bayezid Gazi says, "That's it! Runeprinting, can work for runecasting... Constantly focusing the mind to cast forever? That seems like a lot... Unless I'm simply Willing it. That would probably be less intensive. Swapping between two at a time an--"
- [16:43] Bayezid Gazi says, "Ah, Hamza! I was actually conversing with the locals."
- [16:43] Hamza Gazi says, "That's nice."
- [16:43] Bayezid Gazi says, "I presume you've been perusing the likes of the mainland up until now? I got a bit of backstory concerning what happened here. It was pretty gruesome."
