  1. TESG Loadscreen lore, gathered some relevant bits:
  2.
  3. - The Dunmer traditionally cremate their dead both to prevent tampering by necromancers and so that new life can grow from the ashes.
  4.
  5. - Arkay has made many attempts to thwart necromantic practices, from turning the souls of sapient races black, preventing their capture in regular soul gems, to giving his priests rites by which to sanctify a corpse so it cannot be raised.
  6.
  7. - Arkay is the divine god of burials and funeral rites, but is also commonly associated with the seasons and the cycle of life and death.
  8.
  9. - The Eye of Magnus was first discovered by the ancient Nords when building the city of Saarthal. Though the Nords sought to keep it buried, Elven forces learnt of its existence and assaulted the city in an event known as the Night of Tears.
  10.
  11. - The lords and priests of early Nordic culture were frequently interred with legions of their servants. In the dark recesses of many crypts, these servants still worship their masters in undeath.
  12.
  13. - The restless draugr maintain the halls of the dead, replacing candles, cleaning burial chambers and resetting the deadly traps scattered through their halls. The clever adventurer will find them easy to disarm.
  14.
  15. - Some say the simplistic puzzle doors found in many nordic tombs were made not to keep looters out, but to keep the ancient leaders of the dragon cult in.
  16.
  17. - Dragons cannot be resurrected through normal necromantic means, though stories do exist of undead skeletal dragons.
  18.
  19. - Wispmothers are thought to be a variety of lich from the first era. Their wisp attendants lure in the unwary, and in battle they will summon shades to confuse their combatants.
  20.
  21. - Some Nordic burial cairns have laid dormant for thousands of years, but that's not to say that no dangers lurk inside.
  22.
  23. - The first Atmorans on Tamriel brought with them a faith that worshipped gods in the form of animals. Totems associated with their faith can still be found in ruins across Skyrim.
  24.
  25. - The College of Winterhold hosts what is possibly the largest collection of arcane knowledge in the province of Skyrim.
  26.
  27. - The mages of the College of Winterhold share arcane knowledge amongst their own members, but provide few services to outsiders.
  28.
  29. - Nordic ruins and burial cairns are strewn across Skyrim, abandoned by civilisation for millennia.
