  1. >Be Anon the sadfag.
  2. >Trudging through Ponyville at night in your black hoodie.
  3. >Coming up to a familiar bridge, you spot your buddy Pinkamena sitting on the ledge.
  4. >Walking up beside her, you take a seat and stare off into the slowly flowing creek.
  5. "Hey," you greet.
  6. >"Hey," replies Pinka, not even looking at you.
  7. >You grab a nearby stone and toss it into the stream.
  8. >The ripples quickly fade in the running waters.
  9. "So anything new?" you ask.
  10. >"I had another dream," replied Pinka.
  11. "Tell me about it."
  12.
  13. >The pink pony turned to lay on her back on the bridge's ledge.
  14. >Her head rests in you lap as she watch the sky.
  15. >You hand instinctively runs through her mane.
  16. >"I see dark," she starts. "The night. Dimly lit, cobblestone streets."
  17. "Big city?" you ask.
  18. >"Nah. Small town. Could be Ponyville," explained Pinka. "It's drizzling slightly and a bit cold. My hoodie is damp."
  19. >The reminiscing send a shiver up her spine.
  20. >Pinka flips her hood up.
  21. >"Suddenly I see a bright light. A sign."
  22. "Like a hotel? Bar?"
  23. >"No. Just... A glowing neon light."
  24. "Alright."
  25. >She pauses for a minute.
  26. >Then stretches her hooves out into the sky.
  27. >"It reveals hundres of ponies," she continues. "But they didn't do anything."
  28. "Can you explain?"
  29. >"Just... Like, lips were moving and they were nodding their heads like they were listening, but it was just quiet."
  30. >She retracts her hooves and tilts her head back so she can look into your eyes.
  31. >"When I tried to yell or reach for them, it was like I couldn't speak either. I couldn't even hear the sound of the raindrops falling around me. It scared me."
  32. "That's a common thing in nightmares," you tell her.
  33. >"But it wasn't a nightmare," said Pinka as she returned her head to a relaxed position. "It just... I don't know. I was frightened of it for some reason."
  34. >You nod your head in understanding.
  35. "Please continue."
  36.
  37. >"That's when the light started flashing. Pulsing out light. All the ponies turned to look at it and bowed."
  38. "Okay."
  39. >"A wisp of light wrote words out in the air. You know how you take a stick from a fire and wave the glowing end around and it makes a streak of light?"
  40. "Yeah."
  41. >"Like that."
  42. "Are you able to read it?"
  43. >"It took a while, but I could make out some letters and words. It's in cursive and goes fast."
  44. "So this is a recurring dream?" you ask.
  45. >She nods.
  46. "Just tell me what you can."
  47.
  48. >Pinka closed her eyes and thought for several moments.
  49. >Then she looked back up at you.
  50. >"'Legends scrawled on alley walls and whispered in silence'," she roughly quoted. "Or at least that's what I think it says."
  51. "Hmm..." you think. "And then what happened?"
  52. >Pinkamena shrugged.
  53. >"Nothing. I wake up."
  54. "Do you think Princess Luna might have something to do with this?" you ask.
  55. >The pink pony shrugged again.
  56. >"I haven't spoken to her in months. I doubt it."
  57. "Do you have any ideas about what it means?" you ask. "A future Element of Harmony issue, perhaps?"
  58. >"That makes sense," agreed Pinka. "I can't say I've had much laughter recently."
  59. "I'm sorry."
  60. >"Don't be."
  61.
  62. >Pinkamena lifts her head from your lap and sits up.
  63. >"Thanks," she said.
  64. >She leans into you and you wrap an arm around her for a light hug.
  65. "Same time next week?" you ask.
  66. >"That sounds nice," she replies.
  67. >You both hop off the ledge but stand around for a moment more.
  68. "So it seems we need to get your laughter back," you conclude.
  69. >"I'll be fine," said Pinka. "Hopefully things can go back to normal soon."
  70. "You're telling me," you reply with the slightest of smirks.
  71. >You part ways once more.
