Summary SE Regina

This SE starts when Chrowa asked Regina to talk about her past, from her oldest memories.

Regina woke up to a house full of magic books. Apparently a human woman named Kanya made her and gave her the name Regina. However she passed out shortly after she woke up for the first time since she was incomplete.

Then she finally woke up again and Kanya put her into test in real battles. However there was a problem that she ran out of magic power too fast. Regina analyzed that the magic power cost was due to the immense knowledge put into her by Kanya. She suggested to remove the "Stories around the World" to ease her magic cost, but rejected by Kanya. Kanya said that Regina's purpose was not to battle. Combat ability was her means to protect herself. Regina was meant to be "existence to perserve human". According to Kanya, human and human culture were temporary and went by very fast. And humans were foolish and tended to throw away things without knowing their values. Or humans themselves might be meant to perish on their own. If aliens were to come after humans perish, Regina was meant to show the aliens what creatures used to live there.

Regina lived with Kanya for 50 years. At that point, Kanya said that she wanted to take back her statement regarding Regina's purpose. She wanted Regina to simply live on, live however she wanted in her life. However Regina could not understand the statement. Kanya died when Regina was collecting food for her. Regina buried her and calculated that she would have 36500 days before she ran out of magic power from the last stock Kanya gave her.

After unspecified time, (Madame) Edel and Amber arrived at Kanya's house and met Regina (Amber called Edel by her name without Madam prefix). Edel asked Regina to assist them in surveying the area in search of certain treasure. Amber is half an elf, Edel is half a dark elf. Eventually they reached the ruins but the treasure was already claimed. Edel and Amber laughed while Regina was confused that they should find it regrettable instead. Edel said that it was indeed regrettable but the coming treasure hunt seemed to become interesting too. Edel asked about Regina about her current situation. Regina said that although her master asked her to live on and find ways to enjoy her life, she did not know how and just stayed in the house to preserve magic power. Edel suggested her to look for the next master, to which Regina agreed to try.

Regina traveled around but people either feared her, mistaking her as an Ardore weapon, or wanted to use her for criminal purpose. She was disappointed that her main purpose as a storage of immense knowledge could not be utilized. So she returned to Kanya's house and slept until she met certain little girl.

Story shifted to Vesuvia. She was an experiment specimen "Enhancement Mage D001". She was under Ardore's experiment to replicate Fina, a mage born from continuous injection of magic power. She was forced to fight to her limit every day for experiment purpose, and had no other name than "D001". Chrowa supervised the experiments. Although he felt that the experiment was inhumane, he could not do anything for her.

One day a group of soldiers brought D001 (Vesuvia) for a mission, to test her real combat skills. Then their mission was to investigate Kanya's house, which was said to contain strong enemy weapon. In the battle, D001 felt that she was no different from automaton in ways that they simply followed orders and had magic power injected into them. In the battle, Regina said she refused to be used as a weapon since it wasn't the purpose that she was born.

Regina disposed of the Ardore soldiers but ran out of magic power after the fight, but managed to utter "give me magic power..." before she stopped functioning before D001. D001 gave her a little magic power to ask her why she was born. She explained that her last order by her previous master was "to live on", and her combat prowess was simply to protect herself. D001 gave her more magic power and ordered her to flee from that house because more Ardore soldiers would return to capture her. Eventually Regina fled to the ruins where Chrowa first met her and ran out of magic power again, wondering if that order helped D001.

Meanwhile since D001 returned as the sole survivor of the previous mission, she was treated as a traitor as Ardore soldiers tried to hunt her down. When she was eventually cornered, Amber jumped in to save her. Then D001 was brought to Madame's mansion to join them. Madame (Madame appeared as her name now, compared to Edel earlier) named her Vesuvia and welcomed her to the group. Vesuvia was displeased when she found out that she had to follow orders again, "from this old hag". The group was enraged but Madame laughed and found her interesting, since it was boring that everyone else simply followed her orders.

Madame left after telling Vesuvia to do whatever she liked first while getting used to that place. Then Lekisa led her away to give her an "one-day course" on how to behave, especially not to be rude to Madame again.

Then it's Chrowa's turn to talk about his past. The escape of D001 inspired him to follow his will. He was given a mission to investigate the ruins where Regina collapsed. Chrowa was suffering because he felt guilty about the tasks he carried out as the 16th Orders. He was wondering if he should quit and try to repent or just to continue following the Emperor since he did not think what he did could be forgiven. Just when he thought about the idea of suicide in the ruins, he found Regina.

They talked about how Chrowa was the first one to ask about the stories in Regina's memory. And how Regina's bright stories full of hope saved Chrowa's heart. Then when they first met, they were seen by Amber and Vesuvia. But they decided not to interrupt. Vesuvia talked about wanting to become Nuts Eater (a type of cute monster?) just to eat nuts (??). Amber. They continued their mission and Amber promised to be "Nuts Eater" when they go back.
