  1. Juicy[Ryan]Ok, so we left off with you two spying through the door window, and seeing some Derse soldiers. They look armed, some heavily armored, and a big ACTIVE Knight chess piece thumping around.

  9. Juicy[Ryan]They look like they're scouting about, glancing at the entrances to the room. There seem to be others you can't see. They're obviously on alert for something.

  13. Lily_Miller[silver]"These guys are scaring me."

  18. Juicy[Ryan]One of the smaller carapacians in the back glances towards your door. He shouts something you can't make out, and raises his weapon to aim at the window. One of the bigger blokes in armor starts lumbering towards the door.

  24. Juicy[Ryan]Three more of the smaller rifle-wielding agents rush over to join the first, apparently from the other side of what would appear to be a large room. More of the armored fellows come into view as well. The first gets closer to the door. The Knight starts to turn...

  30. Juicy[Ryan]The bigger Dersites stop when the door opens. The first one in the back, the one with weapon raised, shouts, "It's them!" and fires once towards the door. It was obviously surprised, as it doesn't even come close to Ezra, but hits near the doorframe. They are not friendly.

  35. Juicy[Ryan]Being -inside- the room now. You can get a good count. There are SIX of the smaller ones. And SIX of the armored soldiers. Plus the Knight.

  41. Juicy[Ryan](( You could, but the Knight is mechanical, and so while you could theoretically befriend everyone with high enough rolls before they attack, the Knight would be the tricky thing. ))

  51. Juicy[Ryan]The three new ones raise their weapons, but do not fire. The larger fellows stop approaching, but they seem to be brandishing their weapons regardless. The ones on the other side of the room are watching, but don't move over to assist, apparently guarding something else. The Knight -- is unaffected by whatever is going on, simply watching Ezra, as
  52. Juicy[Ryan]if waiting for orders. The initial spotter speaks:
  53. Juicy[Ryan]"Our orders are to kill you. All of you. The Nobility demands it. We shouldn't be friends." He's not shooting, though.

  56. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]"Y<>u sh<>uld be free t<> be fr1ends w1th wh<>ever y<>u want, and 1f the n<>b1l1ty d<>n't l1ke that, then why sh<>uld y<>u l1sten t<> them?!"

  59. Juicy[Ryan]The Dersites look at each other. The spokesman lowers his weapon and steps forward. "But.. you're a player. You create the frog. We. I mean. They're DISGUSTING! Their very image is offensive to everything we know." The rest of the group murmurs in agreement. The Knight trembles, but doesn't do anything else.
  60. Lily_Miller[silver]I just stand there, speechless. She's actually going to do it, isn't she? Ezra is just full of surprises.

  65. Juicy[Ryan]The armored fellows turn to glance back at their smaller comrades, along with the Knight. The Knight remains trembling. As the group confers, a murmured agreement seems to be the obvious outcome, though you can't hear exactly what they're saying. The Knight does, however. It booms: "WAR MACHINES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MINGLE WITH THE ENEMY."

  71. Juicy[Ryan]The Knight's eyes begin to glow. "IF YOU ACCEPT HER OFFER. YOU ARE THE ENEMY. WAR MACHINES ARE NOT ALLOWED ..." It's repeating itself. Those eyes are... really bright.

  73. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I look up at the big knight.
  74. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I walk up to him, and hug him as best as I can with our size differences.

  77. Juicy[Ryan]You are tiny, and it is huge. And also not a real person, so it doesn't have things like... nerve endings that perceive the sensation of touch.   78. Juicy[Ryan]heir weapons up towards the Knight, but they're too slow. Lasers shoot out of both eyes, blasting the group of Dersites. Three of them are blown away instantly, leaving just a smear of black on the floor, the fourth -- the spokesman, is blown back against the wall, where he slides down to a crumpled heap.   79. Juicy[Ryan]g Ezra and shoving her out of the way as the Knight begins to turn towards them.
  80. Juicy[Ryan]"Get out of here! You've convinced us, but don't get yourself killed because of it!" One of them points to the door you came in through before rushing in and trying to beat the big metal monstrosity with his club. The four on the other side of the room join in, firing up at it and rushing in to hit the Knight.
  81. Juicy[Ryan]The Knight itself turns towards the 4, eyes glowing again -- Ezra is close enough to them to be caught in the blast if it fires.

  83. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I stand there, stunned and confused at what's happening. Why'd he do that? Why wouldn't he want to become friends? What could possibly have happened that would make someone act like that?

  85. Lily_Miller[silver]"Ezra! Run!" I try to get her out of the way, back out of that thing's blast range.
  86. Lily_Miller[silver]=>
  87. Juicy[Ryan]Lily manages to grab onto Ezra's arm, pulling her back through the door just as the lasers fire. You both hear yells before rumbling drowns it out. The wall collapses, partially destroyed by the blast. The door is gone, you don't know what happened to them, but you can guess.

  89. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I drop to my knees, tears quietly falling from my eyes.
  90. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]"They're dead."

  105. Lily_Miller[silver]I take a deep breath, feeling more calm than I usually do. Looking at Ezra, I sit down next to her, trying to calm her down.
  106. Lily_Miller[silver]"Hey, it's okay. You tried, you tried so hard." I try to give a reassuring smile. "There really is only so much you can do. Those guys..."
  107. Lily_Miller[silver]"They gave their lives to help you, help us. Are you going to just give up?"

  109. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I look up at Lily, and take in a deep shuddering breath.

  117. Lily_Miller[silver]I waver, but only for a second. Those "Nobles" want us dead, for whatever reason. They can't be good news, to us, or anyone else. "Yeah, let's do it." Thinking for a second, I add, "We could use some help though," giving a weak smile as I do.

  120. Juicy[Ryan]The light inside the north doorway flickers, as if reminding you of its existence. How convenient.

  125. Lily_Miller[silver]"Okay." I start towards the northern doorway, petting Sphere-Dog as I go. He must have been traumatized by that, poor boy.

  127. Juicy[Ryan]Through the door is just a small corridor before another doorway to a larger, lit room. Nothing of note in here, so onward!
  128. Juicy[Ryan]The next room is still gray, as much as everything else is in here. A difference is there's computer gadgetry and equipment all over the walls, practically covering every inch. On the north wall, are a series of tubes, about the size of a person. There are TWENTY of them. There are two sets of ten with a large computer terminal in the middle. In fr
  129. Juicy[Ryan]ont of each set of tubes is an appearifier pad. From the bottom of the pad there are a series of wires or pipes that lead to one of the tubes.
  130. Juicy[Ryan]The terminal itself, should you step closer to examine it, has twenty green buttons on it, and one big blue button with the appearify symbol on it. There are twenty monitors on above. Right now on them is a timer counting down, stretched out between multiple screens. It's counting down. It had just under 11 hours remaining.

  143. Lily_Miller[silver]I pace between the different buttons, trying to see if I can figure out what they would do.

  145. Juicy[Ryan]The green buttons all have numbers on them, 1-20. The Blue button is in the center, ten green on either side of it. There don't seem to be any other labels or instructions.

  148. Lily_Miller[silver]"Start with one maybe?" I head towards the first button, looking at the monitor above it.

  150. Juicy[Ryan]The monitor flashes red, the timer continues to count down. Nothing else happens. It appears unresponsive. Maybe you need to wait until the timer counts down, but you're not going to wait here for over ten hours, are you?!

  155. Juicy[Ryan]As Ezra turns to leave, she notices something in the southeast corner. It's a metal staircase up to a balcony overlooking the room.

  157. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]"Hey! There's a st1arway <>ver there!" I say, pointing it out to Lily.
  158. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I begin walking over to the staircase.

  160. Juicy[Ryan]Assuming Lily is following, the stairs are solid, no traps here! Up top is a different vantage point to the room! But there's nothing you notice now that you didn't notice before. There is, however, a dooway up here. It leads south.

  162. Lily_Miller[silver]"Through to doorway it is!" Following the almost laid out path ahead.

  167. Juicy[Ryan]The room before you is an ABSOLUTE MESS. Part of the west wall has caved in, and there are dead bodies all over the floor. It doesn't take long for you both to realize that this is the room from earlier. Up on your balcony there's a terminal with a green button on it. It's one of the same ones from the room with the chess pieces in the tubes.
  168. Juicy[Ryan]From this vantage point you can notice an appearify symbol built into the floor. This room appears to be for moving large equipment, though there's nothing in here to move now. Wait, where'd the Knight go, then? There's some scrap metal on the floor near the rubble of collapsed wall and ceiling, but not enough for that big a machine.
  169. Juicy[Ryan]You hear a pained cough. Spokesman is still alive! He's crumpled against the wall still, and he's stained with blood, but he's alive. There's a ladder here leading to the floor.

  171. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]"<>h g<>sh!"
  172. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I run to Spokesman's side.

  175. Juicy[Ryan]"O-oh, you're safe.." he gasps. It sounds like it hurts for him to breathe. He tries to move, but he hisses in pain and seems to be unable to. "I'm sorry, too. We didn't --" he coughs, the blood on his lips getting on Ezra's sleeve. "We didn't know he'd.. attack."
  176. Juicy[Ryan]He takes a deep breath before coughing again. He's not in good shape. His words come, rushed -- as if he's just trying to get out as much as possible. "The Reckoning. It's ... it's soon. The Nobility have joined. The.." he stops, wincing in pain... there's a lot of blood on the floor. "We've won. The end's coming. Y-you... you need to stop it... or
  177. Juicy[Ryan] else.. Skaia will be destroyed. You'll lose."

  182. Juicy[Ryan]"It's.. what they do. It's the whole point!" He slides a bit more down the wall, gasping desperately for breath. "T-the collision sped up everything. The meteors come to destroy the home for the frog. They fight to stop the frog! It's --- it's coming. The Kings have ordered.. ordered all the soldiers to find all of you. KILL all ... all of you."   183. Juicy[Ryan]s eyes flutter closed. "Tell them. The other players. The entire army of Derse is out for ... f-for.. your blood.."
  184. Juicy[Ryan]He slumps, and sighs, and doesn't breathe again.

  187. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]"1 st1ll d<>n't understand..." I say, choking back tears.

  189. Lily_Miller[silver]Oh god, he's really dead. I stand there in shock, barely keeping my hold on Sphere-dog.
  190. Lily_Miller[silver]"Ezra..." I turn towards her, she's not going to take this well.

  192. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I sit next to Spokesman's corpse, at a loss.

  195. Juicy[Ryan]Lily: Despite the brief amount of shock at witnessing a living being expire in front of you, you know that you need to be there as a rock for Ezra, to be that voice of reason and stability. That knowledge helps you keep your focus and determination during times like these.

  197. Lily_Miller[silver]"Because these people that call themselves 'noble,' they only want to hurt people."
  198. Lily_Miller[silver]I feel my words becoming stronger as I speak, I need to be there from Ezra, for my friend. "They'll do anything to get what they want, and that's wrong. They don't even care about people on their side!"

  203. Lily_Miller[silver]"I... I'm not sure." Shrine maiden? That's new, but now's not the time. "I have no idea what could make them want to act like that, like they're above everyone else."
  204. Lily_Miller[silver]"Maybe it's because they've chosen to ignore what's right? Maybe they just don't know any other way."
  205. Lily_Miller[silver]"I-it's sad to think about though, people that don't care about anyone." I take a deep breath, calming myself. "Those kinds of people need pity, maybe even friendship. But they shouldn't get away with what they've done."

  207. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I look down at Spokesman's corpse.

  209. Ezra_Rabbit[Vamp]I stand back up and turn to Lily.

  214. Juicy[Ryan]Taking a moment to look up from the body, you both spy the trail of scrap metal from the Knight leading east to a hole in the wall. A light breeze blows in through the hole. There's another doorway to the south on the west wall, but it looks like it's blocked from rubble that's fallen in from the ceiling.

  240. Juicy[Ryan]Just through the hole, there's a series of partially broken tables, and desks that the pair of you stop behind, glancing up at the broken Knight towering above.
  241. Juicy[Ryan]The light from its glowing eye lights the room in a red glow as it turns to face you. It helps you see the damage the collapsing room did to it. One eye is smashed shut, so only one remains. It's got dents and chips all over it from the ceiling crashing down. And when the wall caved in it bent in part of its base.
  242. Juicy[Ryan]As such, it can't move as well as it could before. It's hurt, but still a threat.
