  1.
  2. [17:13] Barthalamew Otho says, "Ah, Elred."
  3. [17:13] Barthalamew Otho asks, "Mind giving me a hand with something?"
  4. [17:13] Arch says, "Howdy, Lord Chancellor."
  5. [17:22] Having acquired Elred without more words it seemed that his friend just stood up and followed him, quite perfect really since there wasn't going to be too much talking required for what he was about to do... Unless it went south, then that was the perfect time to speak.
  6.
  7. Into his house, unlocking the box which had held the Chiron for many years. The leather bag was dusted off and the invaluable item removed to be held within his hand as the duo walked through the streets and into the Vale.
  8.
  9. Deep inside, beyond the entrance... The altar stood above all other things within this place. Within his right hand, the Chiron. The item which he had held onto for nearly a decade now... It was time, through hell or high water he was going to pursue its use.
  10.
  11. "As you can tell my friend, I have brought the Chiron. Years of contemplation and learning, an unsettling amount of indecision... I've decided to take my stand within this sacred place to perform some miracle for myself. I have been haunted by the explosive magic since I was a young man, having learned it out of foolishness and greed for something more.
  12.
  13. Today I am going to attempt to rid myself of this, perhaps I'll fail. Perhaps all these years were wasted for nothing, but today I am going to try. For if I do not try then what purpose is there to have this? The enemy want it, our people yearn for its power. If left untouched much longer I believe it will just be lost to the ages of time. So will you stand with me as I plead to the Lady, the Lady Aschea to guide my path on this journey through unmapped lands and vicious waters to see if I come out the other side unscathed?"
  14.
  15. Looking upon his only true friend, he questioned if this was the right move one last time before letting doubt fall away.
  16. (Barthalamew Otho)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [17:28] "I don't know what you plan to do with it nor have I taken the time to learn anything about it. So, anything you do with it is a risk right know I assume.
  20.
  21. I'm not sure where you're going with this, but I assumed that's why you brought me here to watch you? I'm still unsure of what you will do or what will happen, but I'll be here.
  22.
  23. So, whatever you attempt go ahead."
  24.
  25. Elred stood there he didn't know what Bart had planned or what would even happen, but this is the path he chose and Elred had no right to push him from that path, so he stood there waiting.
  26.
  27. "Continue with your plan."
  28.
  29. Elred stood on the steps the same place he stood recently with Ella, looking at Barth, waiting/
  30. (Elred Yindove)
  31. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  32.
  33. [17:34] Taking up the Chiron he presented it out as if offering something to the Goddess herself, there was nothing before him... Only Elred down the steps with confusion and misunderstanding of what he was trying to achieve here today.
  34.
  35. "To those who will listen to my plea, for those who will not. I stand here today to unleash the power of my stone. To unlock the secrets within this sacred beautiful place, for the spirits to witness the glory of something which has possibly never come into this cavern.
  36.
  37. Purge my circuits of this explosive magic, help me rise above and become a true storm. Unleashing this fury and wrath upon our enemies so we might see victory in the coming days. Strike me down, and help me raise back up from the mistakes of my past self!"
  38.
  39. Squeezing the stone tightly he was trying to feel the power within and connect with it, to bring forth the raw unbridled force of a star, the heavens. To unleash this power for one purpose, a greedy purpose.
  40.
  41. "If death might take me, so be it. But I stand willing to try. Willing to face adversity for the future. So please... work."
  42.
  43. Raising it above his head he held the Chiron with both hands praying that this could do something.
  44. (Barthalamew Otho)
  45. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  46.
  47. [17:52] As he stood there it seemed that the Chiron did nothing for the moment, as if his prayer was unheard or not listened to by those which he called out to. So there was only one other option that he could think of, it was to break the stone and attempt to absorb this power to cleanse himself.
  48.
  49. "Since that doesn't seem to have done anything my friend, wish me luck. Whatever happens, I'll see you on the other side." One look to Elred he gave him a wink before starting.
  50.
  51. Bringing down from above his head, he would hold it before himself. Maybe a foot away from his face as he attempted to crack it open, it was not an easy task since it seemed to be quite tough and resilient but he hoped that the use of the magic he wanted to rid himself of would assist.
  52.
  53. Forcing tiny mini-explosions across the surface, it would begin to crack. The force within it was something he had only dreamt of seeing since it had been locked within this stone for a decade. The cracks started to get more severe he would move it closer, hoping that this power could be absorbed and used to do as he wished.
  54.
  55. The shimmering silver mana started to be released and that was the moment he tried to pull it into himself. It was beautiful. Pulling the stone close, he hoped this didn't kill him.
  56. (Barthalamew Otho)
  57. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  58.
  59. [17:56] {NARRATION} Such a reckless attempt would surely be advised against by any sane artificer, but Barthalamew was nothing if not bold. The awesome, raw power of the Chiron was unleashed against his magical circuits, 'burning him up' in a violent explosion of cosmic light, blasting both him and and Elfred off of the mountain's peak...
  60.
  61. When he awakes, he will notice changes.
  62.
  63. Roll a /random 1 3
  64. 1 = Lightning Magic
  65. 2 = Wind Magic
  66. 3 = Explosion Magic
  67. You cannot relearn the tree afterwards, as those specific magical circuits will be burnt out.
  68.
  69. -20 vit perm from physical damage.
  70. [18:01] Elred has been standing on the steps for a little while still unsure what this was even about.
  71.
  72. Even when him being on the steps and slowly backing away somewhat of a blast happened. It was probably a good idea he didn't stand directly next to the man as he attempted to do this.
  73.
  74. He was sure what would happened, but it seems like a mess was made within the Vale. This probably wasn't the best place to do this.
  75.
  76. Elred didn't have much say at this point since the deed was already done. In other words Barth probably did the biggest fuck up of his entire life.
  77. (Elred Yindove)
  78. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  79.
  80. [18:03] {NARRATION} Half of the mountain was blown off in a 'circular' shape with the remnants of stardust in the air. Barthalamew stands the victim of a particularly dangerous experiment and a roll of the dice...
  81.
  82. The air still rings with potent magical power.
  83.
  84. Chiron.
  85. [18:05] Asta felt a titanic disturbance in the Vale. As did likely every Teraphim in Myllenoris. And with them, people who would ordinarily not be allowed in the Vale come in crowds. Dozens, perhaps a few hundred. And among them, arrive the High Lady and her consort.
  86.
  87. Her eyes are wide with confusion.
  88.
  89. FURY.
  90.
  91. "Why-" Asta begins.
  92.
  93. The sacred ritual site of the Vale. Destroyed. Blown up.
  94.
  95. THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF PRESERVATION. GONE.
  96.
  97. She points a finger up at them.
  98.
  99. "What happened."
  100. (Asta Hargrave)
  101. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  102.
  103. [18:07] Permission to enter the Vale or not mattered little at a time like this. It wasn't like it was Kofe's first time to enter the place anyway; he walked with confidence and almost like he belonged there. Scary. Who's to say he wouldn't be given permission eventually regardless?
  104.
  105. What did come as a surprise, however, was not the explosions or the damage caused. Things like this could come from a massive fight, or some directed anger. Even half a mountain blown away was possible with a mix of earth magi and anger.
  106.
  107. No, what did permeate the air was the surprise. A... familiar feeling. Something he'd felt before, but couldn't quite put his finger on. His senses were ringing at full power in a mix of accomplishment and disappointment at once.
  108.
  109. Just what kind of magic had brought those two at once before?
  110. (Kofe)
  111. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  112.
  113. [18:07] After everything that had happened...especially with whoever that truly was in the cave. All came to an explosion within the vale that rocked everything. Following the crowd of people that soon rushed into the midsts of the confusion to see the vast hole in the center. Blinking with a bit of confusion before he saw who it truly was.
  114.
  115. And with it? All he could think back to was the very fortune he gave him. And even if he didn't want to voice it, everyone had a price. And in the very end? His fortune came true. It came way..way too true.
  116.
  117. "...Fortune favors the fool. Poor poor Barthalamew...It seems your fortune has come true at last..."
  118. (Noriko)
  119. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  120.
  121. [18:09] Walter and Misha run into Myllenoris' hallowed grounds. As soon as they enter the radio of influence of the apparent roaring explosion, a radiant buzz of unknown precedence begins to ring in their ears. It's unnervingly intrusive, yet it does not slow down their pacing before they'd find themselves in the general vicinity of the ziggurat.
  122.
  123. Only, it wasn't there. Instead, a colossal crater had taken it's place. Naught even a particle of the wonder left in its stead. Walter's stare bolts to the side, only meeting Asta's soon-to-implode ire. He's in shock, yet braces.
  124.
  125. "How? How could this be?" A mutter, as his jaw tightens up.
  126. (Walter Docro)
  127. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  128.
  129. [18:09] It was still very new to him, the improved spiritual attunement he could now boast. Even so, its instinctively understood when the feeling of wrongness suddenly rips through him. The Vale.
  130.
  131. He and Asta arrive at the same time. He wondered if the sudden feeling of protectiveness, if the utter fury at the destruction of part of the Vale was just Asta, or both of them. Both of them, he decided after a moment. As appropriate, of course.
  132.
  133. When Asta speaks, so does Regulus, in perfect unison. That bond could be tricksy.
  134.
  135. "What happened."
  136. (Regulus Hargrave)
  137. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  138.
  139. [18:10] Looking at the scene of this was literally like looking at gold. The mountain area was literally blown away like nothing. Who could expected this? Of course no one as the man look at the sacred area now dust. This was bad. This was very bad indeed. Many spirits come to the area and now. They were freed or pissed off indeed he bet.
  140.
  141. To be honest this made him wonder what would occur now.
  142.
  143. "Well this is something."
  144. (Dax)
  145. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  146.
  147. [18:10] A sound like that couldn't be ignored. The disturbance of the balance couldn't be ignored.
  148.
  149. For the sake of reaching her destination faster, Kalina downs a levitation potion and trails after Ro, Asta, and the others.
  150.
  151. The sight that met her was unlike anything she could've anticipated. Pausing by the crowd, she examines the extent of damage with alarm and disgust alike. Everyone in Myllenoris knew just how important this place was to them.
  152.
  153. "W-what is this...?"
  154.
  155. To see it harmed was hard.
  156. (Kalina Octavius)
  157. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  158.
  159. [18:12] Sandrid's font was a canvas of astonishment and disbelief- never had he thought Myllenoris would suffer this manner of aggression within their deepest sanctuary. Yet- this occurrence does not seem to comprise an external assault.
  160.
  161. The loan shark vigils through the few gaps he can find athwart the dense mass of the crowd ahead of him, and his gaze only barely settles on Barthalamew's frame, although the figures across the gritty pedestal he lain on were nearly unintelligible, so massive was the mob now present.
  162.
  163. "Was on the edge of my seat, for a moment-"
  164.
  165. His eyes bulge, bloodshot, and still all too high on sylv, Sandrid exercises his best effort not to smirk at the scene, finding himself still subjected to the favorable stress of the adrenaline incurred by the drug.
  166. (Sandrid)
  167. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  168.
  169. [18:12] The rat follows up with Walter, all too curious about the explosion indeed! The look on her face was something too, all day she's been jaded and blank for much of an expression until now.
  170.
  171. "Oh no.." Terrible sight to see, Mish more keeping in the dog's shadow from there on.
  172. (Misha)
  173. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  174.
  175. [18:13] Another fortune that came true.
  176.
  177. The albino eyes resting upon Noriko as the gaze focused on their words to come true. This wasn't the first time that this happened, and it wasn't the second time either.
  178.
  179. Whatever kind of magic that it was, it surely wasn't cards either.
  180.
  181. There was many, many theories that could've gone through, however.
  182.
  183. One of them being that they were able to manipulate the spirits to formulate the future into coming true. With every single fortune Noriko would have had to utilize them in these spells. However, they didn't have the sight of spectral.
  184.
  185. The other option was just luck, but with everyone falling and ending up having the worse happening to them -- first Ro with his execution of Siegfried, then Ro's situation with their companion. Now, this.
  186.
  187. A simple shake of his fist; it wasn't luck.
  188.
  189. The conclusion came across that they were just that -- a warlock.
  190.
  191. However,no words were said about that, no, instead, Ro would do what a Grey cloak should do. He rallied those that were not on the list, all the non-magi who shouldn't be here and taking them out of the area.
  192.
  193. Though in the back of his mind, Ro just knew something.
  194.
  195. Something dark, cruel, evil, even.
  196. (Ro)
  197. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  198.
  199. [18:13] Upon the top his eyes would open, his body lay blasted. His heart was broken, the thing which he had kept secret for a decade had finally been used. The Chiron, the great Starstone now left the mark on the Vale as none had ever seen before... His chest had deep seared wounds which were a complete mess requiring heavy reconstruction if he made it out of here alive...
  200.
  201. Looking around as he was coming back to reality he felt like he had literally just gotten struck by a meteor. His eyes were blurry as he made out figured within the vale, people... his people, oh shit what had he done... He was at the center of a giant hole... This was totally the altar. Drifting down toward Asta his ears were still ringing, but she was pointing up toward them as he figured this could be his end.
  202.
  203. Coughing, he tried to speak. "I." his voice went mute for a moment as he looked so dazed and confused about what happened, this was the first moment he realized the arcing lightning was no longer around him... Trying to summon it, it was like feeling nothing. A dumb sensation ran through his entire body as a tear fell down from his face... He fucked up so royally that the King of Osrona looked good after this shit.
  204.
  205. "This one's on me guys." the words came out and it was so unbelievably comical that he chuckled once before wheezing from the chest pain, he was probably going to die here.
  206. (Barthalamew Otho)
  207. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  208.
  209. [18:14] Elred could hear the foot-steps rushing behind him and surprise he wasn't sure what happened either he was just lucky enough to no be standing near him.
  210.
  211. Elred turn towards the crowd of people as they stood there waiting for answers.
  212.
  213. "I'm still unsure as to what happened, but I can explain it as best I can. Barth wanted to be stronger I assume and his circuits we're filled with a magic he didn't care for anymore.
  214.
  215. He attempted to pray to the Chiron, but that didn't work and before I could respond he resorting to eating the thing.
  216.
  217. He didn't pop it in his mouth, no he cracked it own and began sucking on it.
  218.
  219. Before I could speak and explosion happened and his body is still laying there. I'm not sure if he's alive or not, but he wanted to get stronger I believe."
  220.
  221. Elred was still a bit confused, but surely it wasn't enough though when it came to something like this not many people would know.
  222.
  223. One could say the man was greedy for power, but it depends on how one views the situation.
  224. (Elred Yindove)
  225. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  226.
  227. [18:14] Noriko says, "....Maybe...I should stop telling fortunes..."
  228. [18:14] Blyze had already been on his way to Myllenoris when that loud explosion rang though the air. He was immediately filled with dread, but mostly curiosity to see what was capable of causing such a thing. Considering the Vale was the last place you'd expect such sounds to be heard.
  229.
  230. The entrance seemed relatively abandoned, and so he'd use that opportunity to sneak in. It's not long before he's greeted with the sight of a giant crater where once the great tree stood. A crowd gathered around it, staring on in shock.
  231.
  232. He offers no words and simply remains idle next to Noriko, watching on in awe.
  233. (Blyze)
  234. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  235.
  236. [18:15] Walter Docro says, "No."
  237. [18:16] Agate stood aside Sandrid, having accompanied him into the Vale. A few paces behind, she could only stare, mouth agape, taking in the full scale of the destruction of one of their holy sites..
  238.
  239. Instinctively she draws her hand-fan up to cover her expression. Though it's evident she is just as enraged as the rest of her people.
  240.
  241. A place which had been preserved for the longest time.. now left to ruin. By a human, at that.
  242.
  243. Her gaze shifts to Sandrid for a moment, curious, before looking back to the scene. Wondering just how her High Lady would handle this situation.
  244. (Agate)
  245. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  246.
  247. [18:19] The unadulterated, absolute fury was plainly-present on her face. She begins to ascend up the rubble, jumping up rock after rock.
  248.
  249. This was the sacred ground where Aschea herself came to the Vale. Where the coven of Moonfall Valley performed their final, vile ritual to summon their Dark Lord. But he didn't come.
  250.
  251. She did.
  252.
  253. And now... the place where Aschea's grace was felt, physically...
  254.
  255. D E S T R O Y E D
  256.
  257. Millennia of history. Millennia of preservation. Centuries of protection, worship. This Vale would never fully recover from this.
  258.
  259. Elred's explanation only serves to infuriate the High Lady even more. She rises up to his level, using rubble that remained from Bart's failed shenanigan. He... attempted to suck on Chiron? What in the world did he believe would happen? And why in the Vale?
  260.
  261. Why in the most HOLY, SACRED ground of the Vale?
  262.
  263. She extends her hand up to the air, and ruby crystals begin to form.
  264.
  265. "Elred," she says calmly, despite the wrath in her eyes.
  266.
  267. "I'll let you, and him, try to dissuade me from this. But you understand the magnitude, as a Teraphim, of the damage that this human has inflicted upon our sacred ground. Upon our home. Upon the spirits. Upon the ground where Aschea herself once stood."
  268.
  269. "Live the rest of his days in confinement? Or die?"
  270.
  271. She seemed set in this ultimatum. Someone had better talk her out of it!
  272. (Asta Hargrave)
  273. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  274.
  275. [18:22] After Ro evacuated most of the people that shouldn't have been in the Vale, he came back to hear the words of Noriko. A single twitch as he wanted to, desired to, and wanted to just slam their face away from the entire area to begin with.
  276.
  277. However, he refused it.
  278.
  279. The eyes rested upon Asta and their declaration as they seemed more than ready to send them off to the next life or confinement. It was only going to make it worse that, well, they were useful.
  280.
  281. Or was useful, anyway.
  282.
  283. So, when the words came across, Ro looked over towards Kalina then finally towards Regulus.
  284.
  285. "If he is to die, do not sully your hands, Asta Hargrave."
  286.
  287. "I am just a simple tool to Aschea, allow my hands to be the ones needed to bring the balance to here."
  288.
  289. If that was permitted, anyway.
  290.
  291. The gaze followed over towards Elred, only closing his eyes to see what would happen next.
  292. (Ro)
  293. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  294.
  295. [18:22] Anyone who lived in Myllenoris would understand the weight of the man's actions. It was a place they were all entrusted to protect as those who'd long since come and gone had done before them. To have such extensive damage be done to it like this, no matter the reason, was difficult.
  296.
  297. But the reason for it made it all the more infuriating to the rabbit girl.
  298.
  299. Vines twist up and sprout violet flowers as she moves in, positioning herself to defend Asta against any who might oppose her, unlikely as it was. "All of this for a selfish desire...? A desire to cleanse his magic? Ruining centuries of history for that?"
  300.
  301. "I sincerely hope nobody intends to defend him."
  302. (Kalina Octavius)
  303. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  304.
  305. [18:26] He would look to them all. Such a well loved place dead and gone. Though this was something. No more rituals here he guessed. Damn imagine blowing up centuries of war. The cleaning of darkness. The much effort put to making this place sacred. Didn't this mean that the rituals to become one of the people of spirits were now damaged?
  306.
  307. "Heh. Seems my visions were more correct than I thought." The illusion and what he told the man after their spar. He wanted him to take these words that he spoke to heart now he laid on the ground.
  308.
  309. All the eyes on the scene. Will he die or become nothing? Truly was he even alive if this occurred?
  310. (Dax)
  311. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  312.
  313. [18:26] Another fortune coming true...Not again. It couldn't happen again. Yet as he watched Ro ascend those steps he knew he had no right to even speak. No right to truly be here, but he'd be damned if he was going to let another fortune come true. He'd rather lose an arm than that.
  314.
  315. "I..Yea, I know i'm not suppose to even be here, and i'm sure as hel not defending that man but..This is to you Ro. Please..find someone else to do it. Please. I'm begging you here...I don't want to see another fortune come true..least of all another fortune of yours. Just..just find someone else to do it. Let yours be the only one that doesn't come true."
  316.
  317. Hopefully Ro would listen..if not? Then this would be even more to the fear he had, the fear he instilled...and the chaos he was starting to cause all because of a simple fortune.
  318.
  319. To hold so much power, yet to witness chaos. This, was a grand ultimatum.
  320. (Noriko)
  321. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  322.
  323. [18:26] Regulus stared at the destruction, finding it hard to find under the weight of both Asta's and his own instinctive fury.
  324.
  325. "Y-you....you fucking moron."
  326.
  327. Soft words, but no less angry. He trailed Asta up, laying a hand on her shoulder. No words to dissuade her, but something else that had occurred to him.
  328.
  329. "We have many Nature magi amongst our people, and no small amount are talented with Earth magic. We can restore this place; and more than that, turn the very act into an expression of balance. Here that foolish human has caused destruction. Let us create here. Rebuild the mountain. Or, perhaps, build a shrine to Aschea. Anything, rather than leaving it in this state."
  330.
  331. Words said slowly through the bond. Asta would handle the punishment, he'd suggest the next step. Even so, he couldn't help but realise this two was now balanced, in a way. Half of the mountain was destroyed, but half was not. Someone particularly religious might even from that derive a sign.
  332. (Regulus Hargrave)
  333. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  334.
  335. [18:26] Using a Chiron, a fragment of the heavens that could change the world, enact great projects, protect cities, and let one perhaps live an eternal life for...
  336.
  337. ... that?
  338.
  339. To eat it?
  340.
  341. This was worse than Basten being given one to heal from injuries that would no longer matter when he'd rest on his deathbed. This was truly the worst. There could've been incredible feats brought to life by this simple source of power, but instead?
  342.
  343. .. Instead it blew up half a mountain, and brought a man down to the ground. It damaged the past, and ensured there would be no future for some.
  344.
  345. Perhaps the tournament all those years ago did have a purpose in giving this piece of Chiron to a random person who entered...
  346.
  347. For Barthalamew would never have his hands upon the fragment of a star had it been left to wits and skills.
  348. (Kofe)
  349. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  350.
  351. [18:30] Though Walter initially takes the habitual route of attempting to take one degree of separation from himself and inner struggle, there's the rapid realization that he was, by all intents and purposes, balls deep into their political and cultural hierarchy. Lying to oneself or his associates as such wouldn't really do wonders for his already tarnished image.
  352.
  353. And though he considers giving Ro the relax gesture, Walter is ultimately incapable of being that hypocritical, considering his new found fixation on repayment. For the slightest of seconds, he empathizes with the Myllenorian crowd.
  354.
  355. "So he did all of this just to rid himself of abilities he was stuck with?" A pensive pause, before Walter snorts rudely. "Tcha tcha! What a loser! Guess that's end of the line for you."
  356.
  357. His hand lands on top of Noriko's shoulder before he leans in to reassure them at a volume no louder than a whisper.
  358.
  359. "This ain't your fault. It really is not, so don't second-guess your talent, kid."
  360. (Walter Docro)
  361. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  362.
  363. [18:31] Elred could feel the wraith coming from Asta, but he didn't fear it nor her words. She offered a simple solution that didn't require much thought to be put into it for dangerous actions bring forth consequences.
  364.
  365. Elred looked down at the injury Barth and all the damage and sighed. Surly he couldn't feel, but so bad for what was about to happen.
  366.
  367. Barth had been around Elred his entire life and yet it seemed everything was so clear. It did offer pain as the Sapphires were his form of compassion, but what is truly compassion?
  368.
  369. Elred approached Barth with his Weapon glowing bright it seemed the spirits themselves were dancing around the Mistseer.
  370.
  371. Elred took a deep breath and looked at Barth.
  372.
  373. "This wasn't the best way to handle this and now you've been given two choices. For the little compassion I have left in my body and the service you've give rotting for the rest of your life isn't an option.
  374.
  375. This next choice isn't one you have much say in Barthalamew.
  376.
  377. My weapon forged within the Vale and empowered by the spirits that cannot move on. This act will forever have your spirit punished.
  378.
  379. You'll live on within my blade and your spirit will empower me. I'll use my weapon to absorb you and that will be the end of it.
  380.
  381. You'll be put to rest by my hands and that is the last act of kindness I'll be able to inflict up you."
  382. (Elred Yindove)
  383. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  384.
  385. [18:34] It would seem that the sheer magnitude of his fuck up was beyond that which others might even want to mention, for he had truly. Undeniably ruined this sacred place for all those that might wish to see it's glory. This was the first time in his entire life, upon which he had given to the Greycloaks that he felt they were against him truly. Such was completely understandable when you annihilate their landmarks...
  386.
  387. Attempting to get up, he tried so hard. His body was ravaged by the Chiron, his ears were bloody from the explosion and finally, he was coming back to it. This was his death, for one would not live in confinement... That was much worse than the idea of dying, so he would attempt... So hard did he attempt to stand, it was like his entire body was screaming for him to just lay down and die.
  388.
  389. "I refuse confident!" he could barely speak properly. "I challenge!" he took a deep breath trying to stay alive. "I challenge my right to live." he didn't want to die... He also didn't want to get murdered for his extreme accident, but if he was going to get murdered or confined for the rest of his life... There was only one option.
  390.
  391. Looking up at his best friend in the entire world, the only person he wanted to see him succeed... The one who had a special place in his heart that they never spoke about, Elred was his brother. Brother in arms, brother in this world... A different race but one which had helped before the Chiron had ever been within his grasp... It brought tears to his eyes as he understood that death was going to take him here.
  392.
  393. "Give me a fight. Let me die like a man. That's all I ask... the witness of a spirit to finish off the era of Barthalamew Otho... The lost storm of Myllenoris."
  394.
  395. He could only hope that Elred would let him die in a last fight, the ditch effort to see this through.
  396. (Barthalamew Otho)
  397. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  398.
  399. [18:36] Turning around, the rabbit girl glares at the fallen warrior. It wasn't her say in what happened next though it nonetheless infuriated the normally tame soul.
  400.
  401. "How can you dare request a Spirit's Witness after what you've done? Are you really going to pretend you care about the Vale now?!"
  402. (Kalina Octavius)
  403. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  404.
  405. [18:37] Walter's smug laugh projects itself from several feet away. There's clear mockery that permeates through his gesture, as both of his hands wave off to the side in a thespianesque shrug.
  406.
  407. "After the damage he's caused to the spirits' sanctum, he calls on the right to fight for their life in their name!? Bahahahahaha! Hilarious!"
  408. (Walter Docro)
  409. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  410.
  411. [18:38] Walter Docro exclaims, "Have you no honor? Trick question!"
  412. [18:39] Witnessing all of this however? The Ookami could only stare on in silence before he soon pulled out the dirty set of tarot cards he carried upon him. Staring at them with a fevor before he soon shuffled past everyone there and placed the deck of cards on barthalamew's injured body. Shaking his head at the downed man before he soon descended back to where he was.
  413.
  414. "..With this, ends the last of the fortunes with that deck. I..wish you the best of luck in your next life Mr. Storm teacher...Maybe it'll be better for you?"
  415.
  416. He truly didn't know what to say. His own mind was lost in thought after...a series of other questions. And watching someone transform in front of them but a few hours ago.
  417. (Noriko)
  418. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  419.
  420. [18:40] Dax would then look to the commotion.
  421.
  422. "True he is a fool and also destroyed things that even the spirits quake in anger. His greed for power is disgusting. Not only has he removed history but the achievements from many are now gone." Facts simple facts.
  423.
  424. "Yet!"
  425.
  426. Holding a finger up.
  427.
  428. "He has told he served more than most even here. Has fought hell and back for the people here. His greed for power is mostly to protect but it has bounce back on him. Though his last wish I believe should be granted. Though I see that this will not occur."
  429. (Dax)
  430. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  431.
  432. [18:40] "I don't think there are many spirits left here to witness anything."
  433.
  434. Kofe's comment may go unheard of or not, but he'd say his thoughts regardless, both negative like the prior one, and a bit more positive with what followed.
  435.
  436. Even if no one asked.
  437.
  438. "Offering one who faces his own mortality a warrior's death is a kindness that should be offered to each and every person. To die in battle, should they want to."
  439. (Kofe)
  440. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  441.
  442. [18:41] Regulus' hand on her shoulder puts her at ease. Somewhat.
  443.
  444. Just a TINY bit.
  445.
  446. She lowers the hand that began to sprout ruby crystal all around it. She's left only with her piercing, omniscient glare. The pupils and irises of her eyes were gone, replaced instead with glowing, vibrating symbols. Strange runic glyphs.
  447.
  448. "... He dies, then," she says.
  449.
  450. "It shall be no Spirit's Witness. But he'll die on his feet, at least."
  451.
  452. She turns around.
  453.
  454. "Elred. You didn't seem to arrive with the rest of us. You were here. I'm certain of it. You had the chance to stop this madness before it began.
  455.
  456. If you didn't stop it, before he put the Vale in danger, then you share part of the blame. Let the weight of his life, snuffed out by your blade, be your punishment."
  457.
  458. She moves to descend the 'stairs'. Or, what's left of them.
  459. (Asta Hargrave)
  460. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  461.
  462. [18:42] Walter Docro says, "... good ole' honor duel, then. Wouldn' be fitting to have him enjoy the blessing of a Spirits' Witness."
  463. [18:44] Asta shakes her head at Ro's request to do it himself, of course.
  464. (Asta Hargrave)
  465. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  466.
  467. [18:44] The Kitsune would let out a sigh behind his mask, offering no words or phrase. It must be pretty heart breaking, to die such an embarrassing death - with no friend to offer comfort in your last moments. He can only prey that he doesn't meet a similar fate.
  468.
  469. And he shouldn't - as long as he doesn't eat things that obviously aren't meant to be eaten.
  470.
  471. What was most curious of all was watching the Ookami lay down his deck of Tarot cards, even if it were a comforting gesture. Were they going to give up Fortune Telling? It was peculiar. However, no questions were raised, he'd save those for later.
  472. (Blyze)
  473. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  474.
  475. [18:44] Her vines slink around and creep between the rubble as she slowly begins to clear up a path of sorts. They had a lot of work ahead of them if ever the Vale would return to what it'd formerly been.
  476.
  477. His fate had been sealed. It was now only a matter of time.
  478.
  479. Sighing, she wearily looks over to the High Lady. "Lady Asta, may I take the gift intended for Lord Regulus from him once he's fallen? I assume he still hasn't given it over after he stole it from me..."
  480. (Kalina Octavius)
  481. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  482.
  483. [18:46] "He's consumed a Chiron. So soon afterwards, there'll likely be leftover energy. If he's to die now, surely the death could be...put to use? Help heal what he's hurt?"
  484.
  485. It was a question asked mainly out of ignorance; he figured theoretically it was possible, but the actual likelihood of it working was something he was unsure of, so he figured she might answer it.
  486.
  487. Eyes flickered over to Kalina.
  488.
  489. "He did give it to me. Just a little earlier."
  490.
  491. He stepped aside, allowing Asta her descent proper, though he did hope she'd answer first.
  492. (Regulus Hargrave)
  493. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  494.
  495. [18:47] Kalina Octavius says, "...I still want to take something from him."
  496. [18:47] Ro says, "..."
  497. [18:47] Ro nudges Kalina's shoulder.
  498. (Ro)
  499. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  500.
  501. [18:47] Elred closed his eyes everything from Bath and the people behind him were void. Elred couldn't feel anything in this moment, no regret, no pain, no forgiveness.
  502.
  503. The Vale has always been a place to be treasured, honored, respected, but that wasn't the case here. Elred didn't have much time, but with the flicker of the Sapphires Elred couldn't help but think about their trials.
  504.
  505. How could he stop something he had no knowledge over it was going to happen. The actions happened one after another to instant for anyone to truly stop.
  506.
  507. Elred sighed if it wasn't a spirits witness than what? Honor duel? There wasn't much honor left in this situation anymore truth be told.
  508.
  509. Seems he'd have to fight when he rather put him down now, but if that's what is grated.
  510.
  511. "If you're granting him a honor duel then that's fine."
  512. (Elred Yindove)
  513. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  514.
  515. [18:47] Ro says, "Stop."
  516. [18:47] Walter approaches the High Lady on his best behavior, there's a regarding bob of his head as he does so. He had sworn his services until the war had seen it's end, and as thus he'd have to abide to his word. Shady businessman or not, agreements were honored in the Family.
  517.
  518. "If you need merc work, I'm here." He recalls his services. "I'd rather taint myself than have Ro degrade his image."
  519. (Walter Docro)
  520. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  521.
  522. [18:48] Ro says, "Elred is going to do it."
  523. [18:48] Kalina Octavius says, "This is disgusting."
  524. [18:48] Kalina Octavius says, "But I'll fix his mistake somehow."
  525. [18:48] Dax says, "He served his days i think he deserves it"
  526. [18:49] Kalina Octavius says, "He deserves to die like a dog- no offense, Mister Walter."
  527. [18:49] Walter Docro says, "... tch! None taken."
  528. [18:49] Ro says, "Kalina, your anger is wonderful."
  529. [18:50] Orca says, "It's frightening to be honest."
  530. [18:50] Walter Docro says, "At least he'll die on his feet, like a fighter. That's the one thing they can't take from them."
  531. [18:50] Kalina Octavius asks, "May I assist when the time comes, Lady Asta?"
  532. [18:50] Kalina Octavius says, "I'll do everything I can then. Anything to make this up to the spirits."
  533. [18:50] Walter Docro says, "You kids are startin' to worry me."
  534. [18:51] Ro says, "..."
  535. [18:55] Thus it was here, the moment he was going to take... A death that could be fitting. Turning to his left, he saw the people... Before he was Elred. Such was the time, for his friend to be free of this action... He needed to die, but in order for him to succeed... It was a shame really, nobody checked his pockets before helping him up. Turning toward the dealer, he gave the man a little wink before punching himself in the face with a bag of Sylvanum.
  536.
  537. Cracking his neck, even though his ears were bleeding and his chest was feeling like it had been on fire. There was a smile growing on his face, everything felt so much better... Life itself was seemingly grand and great, even if he died today. It was all going to be alright. His Granny was happy, his people were angry. Such was life.
  538.
  539. "I served faithfully for ten years, my mistake... The greatest one ever. Was worth trying!"
  540.
  541. People here had wanted the stone, they desired it's power. They all would have loved to see his Chiron within their own hands, to use it for their own malicious victories. But that wasn't happening now, no... He was going to die to his best friend, or was he? The Sylvanum was coursing throughout his body as he felt an unbelievable rush of power.
  542.
  543. He chose one person, Sythaeryn. That would be the magic he copied. The magic of a man who had destroyed him in combat, the magic of a Drakanite. The force of the world.
  544.
  545. "You will kill me, but I'll give you one last good fight. Brother."
  546. (Barthalamew Otho)
  547. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  548.
  549. [18:58] Elred had never else left to say in the situation he gave Barth his final verdict upon the sets. Forever would he live with the blade forged within the Vale.
  550.
  551. Elred couldn't form his words to say much of anything at the moment, but if this was the faith that unfolded the man than he had no right to take that from him.
  552.
  553. The weapon was drawn and Elred was prepared to strike him down. He didn't feel like dragging this out was the proper call.
  554.
  555. Elred dash at the man ready to begin the fight and hopefully end the fight just as quickly..
  556. (Elred Yindove)
  557. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  558.
  559. [19:00] Dax Tries to not laugh
  560. (Dax)
  561. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  562.
  563. [19:04] Elred didn't really know what to expect him to him to learn magma magic, but what could he really expect they wanted to offer him a chance and this is what happens.
  564.
  565. Elred honestly didn't care much anymore and if this was what was going to happen he should approach it differently. Magma magic was annoying, but manageable when you understand how it works.
  566.
  567. Elred turned towards him without saying him he prepared to strike him again. There was no point in waiting to see what he's do next Elred was aware of how he'd fight him now.
  568.
  569. Was that enough? Who knows but there was no point dwelling on the situation any longer.
  570. (Elred Yindove)
  571. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  572.
  573. [19:06] Clashing, Elred found himself faced with the full force of Magma and everything that he had within. Nothing was left on the table right now. He tried with every single fiber of his body to win the first connection and he certainly did... Clash, smash, and boom! He had destroyed the Vale already, what was a little extra magic proportion?
  574.
  575. The first bout was settling into this magic which Sythaeryn had proven was quite intense. There was a way to lead it into the future, perhaps winning this fight could be possible with such a thing. He stood tall, feeling the burn from his chest but magma would cover his body. An extra defense as the Sylvanum was running through his body, the sheer unbelievable power which he controlled at this moment was unlike anything he had ever experienced before.
  576.
  577. "I will not die easily Elred. You know this. You understand just what I am at the core. That I will rise above the adversity you throw upon me. That I will hold you at the highest level.
  578.
  579. Now come brother, COME AND KILL ME FOR THE PEOPLE! I was the son of Myllenoris. I gave my life and family to fight for this wild bitch, now put me down like the dog they claim me to be! Unloyal! Three wars and a fucking wraith... Yet I'm not loyal."
  580.
  581. Laughing, the rush of the drug was pushing him into a fury. It was time to secure his life.
  582. (Barthalamew Otho)
  583. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  584.
  585. [19:11] Even though the compassion Elred held some discomfort with the path Barth chose to take it wasn't the best, but Elred needed to manage.
  586.
  587. He was caught off guard in the beginning and even manage to make a slip up close to the end. The magic was indeed annyoing, but he'd have to manage either way.
  588.
  589. He didn't have much to say even at this point he found this to be quite annyoing to him, but he needed time, spacing, and everything else he taught others to end this.
  590.
  591. He turned towards the man ready to strike him again and hopefully avoid the magic that covered the area.
  592.
  593. (Elred Yindove)
  594. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  595.
  596. [19:12] The second bout, it seemed that Elred was learning from his mistake. That he was taking charge of the situation and really proving the man he was, to fight with that vigor and light that truly made him a Misteer. Such was the way, his brother had been one of the best within these lands. This punishment was unjust and unfair. Cruel even, but he wasn't going to stop. One chance, one life. Nothing was going to hold back, not until the end.
  597.
  598. Magma sprayed around alongside the wrath of his heart, the only person who might be able to understand the sheer amount of wounds that he had on his body was Ella... Yet here he was fighting through it all like a starved animal trying to run through a field of carrots. Slam, bam, he was getting struck time and time again as if he wasn't able to stop Elred... This time his friend had not only taken victory but proved a point.
  599.
  600. It wasn't over, not until the end. So he rushed toward Elred hoping that this would be glorious.
  601. (Barthalamew Otho)
  602. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  603.
  604. [19:18] There it was, another loss. He was stacking them up quite heavily. But there was no mercy for a wounded man, not when the option was death. Truly, what else was he to do? Hideaway within some cavern unable to live. No, he was going to die like the man he was. That is... If Elred could actually kill him, his friend had been his training partner for years. Such was interesting, he knew all of his tricks.
  605.
  606. Even under the influence of this euphoric drug, this unbelievable feeling... The pain still burned, it was there and he wanted to drop and cry... But no mercy, no surrender. He stood there waiting for Elred, like a mouse watching the cat prowl around. Time was running short, his hourglass was nearly empty. But here he was giving his all.
  607.
  608. The sword, it was beyond pain. Everything leads to him losing, from the very beginning...
  609.
  610. "In the end Elred. I'll be with you until the end of your road."
  611.
  612. Bleeding, wounded, high as absolute shit. He still loved this fucker before him.
  613. (Barthalamew Otho)
  614. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  615.
  616. [19:19] Yet again his blade managed to make yet another cut, but the longer the battle went on the more he started to feel the affects of the magma around him. It was truly a pain, but this pain would surely come to an end sooner or later.
  617.
  618. Elred needed to finish this one final time to ensure that this would fully come to and end. He didn't feel much expect the heat of the magma shrouding him and the entire area.
  619.
  620. The gave of everyone looking upon him there was nothing more he could feel from this situation. He'd take another breath and prepared to rush down the man again; hopefully for the end.
  621.
  622. Elred shook his head if he had anything to say it would be towards the end, but there was still a fight to be had.
  623. (Elred Yindove)
  624. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  625.
  626. [19:25] They pushed forward, harder than before. It was coming down to the final moments... The church bells were ringing out in his mind as everything seemed to click, he had rushed and mistakes were made. A valiant effort by Elred as he tried to jump the start with a flurry of attacks that ended up leading him down the rabbit hole. Looking around, he could actually win this entire fight... But that would leave his friend wounded.
  627.
  628. The people, they hated him already. Why push anymore hate onto his only friend in this entire place... Why let him go through the shame of loss, it was the last stand. But a sacrifice was demanded... Blood to be paid. Watery eyes turned to his friend before he looked down... He couldn't let him lose, not this time. Even while the euphoria was rushing through his system... he was paranoid for his friend's life.
  629.
  630. "I love you."
  631.
  632. That was all he said, the final words leading into this last bout. The moment where everything was going to be decided... Where he could die so his friend could live a better life, his mistake paid in blood.
  633. (Barthalamew Otho)
  634. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  635.
  636. [19:26] Elred couldn't find the middle ground with the bloody volcano covering the entire area they fought in. He couldn't stand it at all, but he was either gong to be defeated or something else was going to happen though he wasn't sure just yet.
  637.
  638. Elred readied his blade again for the final time weather or not he come out on top was undetermined. He looked at the man.
  639.
  640. "Stop making people think I bonded to you...that's weird Barth"
  641.
  642. Elred wasn't going to say anything, but he needed to comment on that part. Out of all the thing he said that was the weirdest, but he knew the man meant well still wasn't the time nor the place.
  643. (Elred Yindove)
  644. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  645.
  646. [19:27] Ro coughs into his fist.
  647. (Ro)
  648. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  649.
  650. [19:27] Ro says, "Gay."
  651. [19:27] Ella Gracia says, "..."
  652. [19:27] Asta Hargrave says, "..."
  653. [19:27] Ella Gracia says, "This is not a time for jokes, gentlemen."
  654. [19:27] Noriko asks, "Don't you have two dads Ro?"
  655. [19:27] Tieru shhs.
  656. (Tieru Avlee)
  657. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  658.
  659. [19:27] Ro says, "... Had."
  660. [19:27] Amalia Hargrave says, "--"
  661. [19:27] Dax says, "The future tells me how this about to end."
  662. [19:28] {Won Dangerous RPB against Barthalamew Otho}
  663. [19:31] Orca asks, "High lady, are you dancing?"
  664. [19:40] Time and time again he was test with trial after trial for what? The spirits seemed to test Elred at every moment of his life, why? Elred was loyal, he did what was best for the people and would even give his life for them, but it wasn't enough.
  665.
  666. The limits has to be broken and his loyalty tested again, this was no time for jokes? Elred was deadly serious the entire time.
  667.
  668. He didn't seek approval, he didn't wait for anyone to step in to defend Bath by any means. This is where his journey ends and his new one begins.
  669.
  670. "It's rude of me to not leave you with any parting words, but I did consider you a friend so dying by my hand is an act of kindness.
  671.
  672. You'll live on though my blade and from the whispers I hear I'll continue to bring greatness to this city.
  673.
  674. You let your own greed get the better of you, so allow me to purge that with affects your mind."
  675.
  676. Elred stood the man up and sliced his head off only to have his clone catch it and hold it towards Asta. The deed was done there wasn't any delay or a chance that Barth would recover.
  677.
  678. Elred ended this mans life within seconds.
  679.
  680. What more could be said? Elred didn't have enough time to stop him before he finished his reckless actions. If this was truly his punishment then it's something he eared rightly.
  681.
  682. "High Lady, it wasn't my intentions for the Vale to be destroyed by greed. I didn't have time to react for within that split second he cracked it open the explosion happened.
  683.
  684. It sent me flying down the steps just as your arrival; I don't defend his actions they were foolish, but hopefully you see where I stand.
  685.
  686. I stand for the betterment of Myllenoris and I've accepted this punishment of killing and it will forever be with me. The only thing I regret is the Vale be tarnished by these actions and I'll seek to repair what Barth destroyed."
  687.
  688. Elred finished his address to the High lady and gazed at the lifeless Barthhalamew.
  689. (Elred Yindove)
  690. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  691.
  692. [19:44] Last words are important.
  693.
  694. Or at least that's what the world tells you when you're growing up. That somehow, in some way, everything you've done up until your last moments can be forgiven, changed, or made more impactful with the last few words you let out.
  695.
  696. Reality was much more harsh, however. More often than not those last whispers given as one's course runs out is nothing but meaningless blabber, regrets, or begging. Especially in battle.
  697.
  698. Elred took those last words from his friend, however. It left Kofe in some odd position, unsure if it was a great move or a nonsensical one. On one end it saved any embarassment Barth could've brought to himself, on another it robbed him from any secrets he needed to let out.
  699.
  700. Conflicted, the Rhoynish remained steady, unsure whether or not stealing those last few sentences was mercy or cruelty.
  701. (Kofe)
  702. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  703.
  704. [19:45] The fight went like a blur. The final moments anyway, he had pushed so hard at the start and could see victory waiting there... it was so damn close that he could taste it... He wanted freedom, but for a moment... Just a moment, he thought about it. If he won, Elred would be shamed. Others would still try to kill him, it wasn't right. Could he have won wasn't the question... But why would he win? To fight more and escape. To die by the hands of another? No.
  705.
  706. Here he stopped, looking menacing, but he quit moving. To stand there and take his death like a friend, as a man... Like a brother. It was the right thing to do, let himself fall so Elred could rise like a phoenix from these stardust ashes. It was a well-deserved death, he fucked up and ruined the Vale. It was his own version of flying too close to the sun... Accept he totally made a sun inside the vale which annihilated this sacred beauty, but regardless if it was completely foolish... Unrespected, probably should have asked Regulus for a hand on that matter... But it didn't matter.
  707.
  708. Everything he had done for Myllenoris, to blow up the Vale as he did. It was an accident, a brutal unforgivable accident which leads to this beautiful moment. On his knees, the loss had taken him. Elred showed no mercy this day, there was no respect for him to have words... No reason for it either. He knew that he loved him, like a brother. Like a dear friend who just removed his head like he was nothing... So cold, so respectable... A shame really, he had fun lines to speak.
  709.
  710. Stuff like how he had fought in the three wars, battled a Giant Krab, learned Storm magic. Found a traitor, had them murdered, Fought his cousin multiple times throughout the years in dangerous deadly battles... Yet, here he was. Upon using the stone which he gained at the very start of his journey, it was now the cause of his end.
  711.
  712. It had been a good life, a strong life. One which many will commend, yet. There his body lay, dead on the ground. His head taken up by the clone. Such a brutal way for your friend to murder you, but he still... Even as he died, remained loyal and loving.
  713.
  714. Until the end of the line.
  715.
  716. The end.
  717. (Barthalamew Otho)
