  1. AppleConnect includes Secure WiFi support
With Apple Secure Wi-Fi, you can access Apple internal resources from the campus wireless network without having to use VPN. You also won’t have to reconnect to VPN as you move between buildings or from your desk to a conference room. As long as you’re signed into AppleConnect, you’re connected.
  2.
  3. AppleConnect includes VPN support
AppleConnect allows you to establish a VPN connection to the Apple network while off campus using your AppleConnect password. AppleConnect VPN requires OS X version 10.6.8 or higher. SSL VPN requires OS X version 10.8.2 or higher.
  4.
  5. Your Responsibility -
Protect your system by ensuring that your login password is strong and kept secret, and that the following settings are in place:
  6.
  7. •Disable automatic login in your Mac's Users & Groups preferences (Login Options) to prevent easy access to your system after rebooting.
  8.
  9. •Require login password to wake your computer from sleep or from screen saver in the Security preference panel.
  10.
  11. •Set your screen saver to activate in fewer than 10 minutes in the Desktop & Screen Saver preference.
  12.
  13. •Protect your computer with a firewall whenever you are connected to the Apple network in the Security preference: Firewall tab.
  14.
  15. If you lose your system: you must sign in to Apple Directory from another system and unregister this computer from the Registered VPN Computer list. If you do not have access to Apple Directory, you must report the loss to the IS&T HelpLine as soon as possible. The lost device will be blacklisted to prevent any unauthorized access.
  16.
  17. How does AppleConnect VPN work? -
AppleConnect VPN assigns a trusted VPN certificate to your system and uses Kerberos and VPN utilities built-in to Mac OS X. This certificate is typically valid for 90 days. Whenever the certificate expires you are required to renew the certificate by re-entering your Apple PIN. AppleConnect can only establish a VPN connection on your system when you enter your AppleConnect account name and password. To connect, just choose ‘Connect’ in the AppleConnect menu bar item.
  18.
  19. Where is CryptoCard still used?
CryptoCards should only be needed for a small number of services:
  20.
  21. •Non-Mac VPN access (Linux, Windows).
  22.
  23. Return your unused CryptoCard
  24. If you are no longer using your secure token simply return it via interoffice mail to Remote Access at mailstop 60-MS, and please include your name. We do not need or want you to send us your PIN.
