  13. Comment: "HUGE surprise. This track dropped on the 11th, a month out from Brothertiger's 4th LP, Paradise Lost (and after 3 nights of me obsessively refreshing spotify at 9PM pacific waiting for a new single). John Jagos said that this track was inspired by finding hidden swimming holes with his sound engineer on his west coast tour last year. I think of this song as a love letter to the Pacific Ocean (which is really halocore) as well as a track about repressed desire and self-discovery .
  14.
  15. I got Paradise Lost 2.5 weeks early so have already listened to it a totally normal number of times; ""Shelter Cove"" is one of the standout tracks on it, for me. I hope you enjoy :)"

  20. Comment: It was a new release by one of my favourite kpop groups, and loved the rock-ish elements in it. Became my favourite song of the group. Wasn't my most listened, but was my favourite.

  25. Comment: "This month was my return to Hip Hop and a 310 ambient combo. I almost submitted Message To Bears but I think SuicideBoys are more representative of the month as a whole. I really fell in love with their production style even if the songs make me sad af. This one isn't very sad tho.

  36. Comment: I found this band back in August and this album felt like it soothed my anxiety. I binged this throughout early August, but I can't really tell what made me fall in love with it anymore. Perhaps one reason was the incomprehensible lyrics, which made me come back to the album and this track to understand it better.

  45. Submitted by: They Call Him Mr. Z / 34 scrobbles
  46. Comment: Radikal Guru, one of the best dub artists I've discovered over the past few years - almost every track they've created is well produced and catchy, and really brings the Jamaican vibes. Initially, I was only familiar with the track Dread Commandments and a few others were peppered in occasionally. It wasn't until earlier this year that I took a further dive into their albums that I found several songs that stuck out including Ethnic, Babylon Sky, Eu Ja Ihe Disse - songs that had a great beat, heavy bassline, and solid vocals. I hope you guys enjoy this song as much as I do!

  54. 11. Have a Nice Life - Telephony
  55. Submitted by: deathconscious / 27 scrobbles
  56. Comment: "Telephony makes its way back to my top 5s that I've been keeping track of for a long time. Have a Nice Life made its first appearance in my tops back in November 2016 with Bloodhail (this month's #2nd most played), but Telephony only appeared in September 2017, peaking at #1st, then #2nd in October, and again #1st in December, showing up as #2nd most played track of 2017. Its success in my tops didn't stop there. Telephony continued appearing in 2018 (#2 in January, #1 in February, #4 in March, #5 in September) and managed to be my most played track of 2018. August 2020 happens to be the first month after September 2018 when Telephony shows up again, and takes the 1st spot for the month.
  57. Have a Nice Life dominated my top 5s this month, taking the top 4 positions, due to me binging them like crazy, particularly Deathconsciousness. It marked the end of my Nicole Dollanganger obsession, and also turned the end of the summer into a very gloomy end."

  62. Comment: "Because Svalbard and new album soon hype.
  63. Plus, just look at those lyrics:
  64.
  65. *Don't tell me it's 'okay to not be okay'
  66. Then wince at everything I say
  67. Don't act like a confidant
  68. If you're just going to get impatient
  69. And make patronizing suggestions
  70. It's not my life that's the problem
  71. It's me
  72. Days without eating
  73. Days without sleeping
  74. Days without speaking
  75. If I could fix it like a broken limb, I would
  76. If I could stop these thoughts and start again, I would
  77. I would leap at the chance
  78. But the chance: it does not exist
  79. Some illnesses – they just have no fix
  80. Listen to someone without judgment*"

  83. 13. MxPx - Worries
  84. Submitted by: verajune / 21 scrobbles
  85. Comment: I've loved MxPx since the 90s, but it surprises me how much they still resonate with me. They're one of those bands that gets better as they age, which doesn't seem to be the norm, especially when it comes to long-lasting pop-punk bands.

  105. 17. MAKHLVK - I The King Shall Return
  106. Submitted by: overr / 15 scrobbles
  107. Comment: "So in the other discord's #metal channel, I host a monthly ""random country special"" event where everyone gets randomly assigned a different country, and they have the entire month to do their research and pick one song to submit. For August, I had Indonesia. It's quite a good scene, and there's a lot that I still keep listening to even now that I don't have to actively research the scene any more. But there is one artist that *really* caught my attention.
  108.
  109. MAKHLVK is a one-man deathcore project from Bali, taking clear influence from both Infant Annihilator and Cattle Decapitation but with a really fresh sound that makes his music stand out on its own. While his other songs tend to have a lot more of a ""by a deathcore fan for deathcore fans"" vibe to them, I submitted ""I the King Shall Return"" because it is remarkably bouncy and catchy and thus a lot more access. It's my favorite deathcore song all year from my favorite deathcore release all year. In general, it's been my favorite song overall this month, and my most scrobbled, so this is the obvious choice of submission."

  115. It's fun. Edgy, dumb, but fucking fun all the way. And like the whole album is like this, but only this song is so fucking SUGOI (\* ^ ω ^)"

  137. 23. Dave Clarke - Frisson
  138. Submitted by: dream / 7 scrobbles
  139. Comment: "My top track for the month was Le Désir de Mort by Potochkine with 17 scrobbles, which was 3 ahead of the next song. Whilst I do love it that really works better in the context of the whole record which was written to soundtrack 3 theatre shows.
  140.
  141. I picked Frisson because it melds the sort of deliciously dark but danceable vibe I usually eat up (the synths from 1:31 on are like listening to crack to me) together with a vocal style that sounds unique together. I'm not familiar with Mt Sims but he's on my list to check out, especially as he's released records on International DeeJay Gigolo (the mighty DJ Hell's label). On the other hand I certainly knew Dave Clarke before by reputation but it was this record that got me into his music.
  142.
  143. Dave explained that the meaning of the track is anything that gives you goosebumps, which is especially appropriate given it was my reaction the first time I heard it..."

  146. 24. Comus - Diana
  147. Submitted by: Jess / 6 scrobbles
  148. Comment: Had a 7-way tie between tracks on this album. My favorite is actually Drip Drip but it's 11 minutes long, womp womp. Feel free to ping me with suggestions of similar bands if you know any!
