  2. Stunfisk showcase untitled
  3.
  4. s/os to the 5 people that actually followed stunfisk team tour, (shameless plug r/stunfiskcircuit)
  5.
  6. this was the team I brought to finals to secure the win for team lucky and bad.
  7.
  8.
  9. Now this team was made for the purpose of dealing with Cralimon who was my opponent for that game.
  10.
  11. ##What is counterteaming
  12.
  13. counterteaming or cteaming is a common practice that is seen in tour play as people tend to like certain cores and being able to exploit then with a good match up is beneficial. ADditionally, building along a person's playstyle is another form of cteaming. If you know someone struggles dealing with fat teams bring something fat. Games can be decided at the teambuilder so getting the advantage there is important. You usually wanna look at replays to find stuff out. For example I knew that Crali liked using thundurus-T plus water types so I decided that bringing electric+ice coverage was the call. My teammate and friend jhon passed me a rain team with AV lando+ SD mzor and I took swapped the lando out for a Scarf Mamoswine and the Mega Scizor for a Mega Metagross, as the immediate power was better vs his prefferred bulky offense teams. You wont see counterteaming that much at PCs and ladder play where you are team-locked, but in tour play where your opponent changes from round to round cteaming is an important aspect to consider. Changing your team to better deal with your opponent is perfectly acceptable and considered a part of the game.

  15. ##the team:
  16.
  17. > Jhon (Politoed) (M) @ Eject Button
  18. > Ability: Drizzle
  19. > Level: 50
  20. > Shiny: Yes
  21. > EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 SpD
  22. > Sassy Nature
  23. > IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
  24. > - Helping Hand
  25. > - Scald
  26. > - Encore
  27. > - Haze
  28.
  29. Rain wouldnt be rain without a setter, and politoed functions better as a support mon when compared to something like peli, which has more of an offensive presence. Haze helps dealing with set up sweepers such as komno-o and Tapu Fini, Encore functions as a decent TR answer as well as punishing fake out attempts on Ludicolo. Helping hand allows the hard hitters to hit even harder. And Scald makes it so Politoed isnt completely passive as rain boosted scalds hit decently hard and have a nice burn potential. I really liked Eject Button here as it gives u an upper hand in the weather war, and allows you to bring out something offensive and scary off the bat. I knew that Crali liked T-tar so this was a great pick. Also since helping hand has a ton of priority toed can still do something the turn it is forced out, despite being super slow. The lack of protect on Toed was mainly because the team needs all these moves and it forces u to play aggresively with the frog.
  30. >
  31. > alex jones (Ludicolo) (M) @ Waterium Z
  32. > Ability: Swift Swim
  33. > Level: 50
  34. > EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
  35. > Modest Nature
  36. > - Hydro Pump
  37. > - Energy Ball
  38. > - Ice Beam
  39. > - Fake Out
  40.
  41. Ludicolo is the best rain abuser available in the format, and a Z-Hydro in the rain can take out most neutral mons. with a helping hand boost from toed something will just die. Energy ball is the obligatory stab to deal with water types and Ice Beam allows an accurate means to deal with birds and grounds. Fake Out is one of the best moves in the format so that's obligatory.
  42. >
  43. > fret reference (Metagross-Mega) @ Metagrossite
  44. > Ability: Clear Body
  45. > Level: 50
  46. > EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  47. > Jolly Nature
  48. > - Iron Head
  49. > - Hammer Arm
  50. > - Ice Punch
  51. > - Protect
  52.
  53. Metagross is one of the better megas that is available this year. Jhon suggested running Hammer Arm as that allows Gross to deal with Kartana, Ferrothorn and Incineroar which are all mons that commonly give it trouble. Ice Punch and Iron Head are pretty much standard on gross and Protect is protect so like you gotta have it lol.
  54. >
  55. > im gay lol (Tapu Koko) @ Life Orb
  56. > Ability: Electric Surge
  57. > Level: 50
  58. > EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  59. > Timid Nature
  60. > IVs: 0 Atk
  61. > - Thunder
  62. > - Volt Switch
  63. > - Dazzling Gleam
  64. > - Protect
  65. >
  66.
  67. Koko is Koko. In my opinion this is the best Tapu due to it's speed and sheer versatility. Life Orb Koko is a tried and true set. Rain+Koko is a tried and true combination as a Thunder that never hits is very nice. Volt Switch allows u to pivot out of bad situations as koko is often moving first and gleam is nice secondary stab which helps chip opponents for something stronger to pick off.
  68. > yo girl (Mamoswine) (F) @ Choice Scarf
  69. > Ability: Thick Fat
  70. > Level: 50
  71. > EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
  72. > Jolly Nature
  73. > - Icicle Crash
  74. > - Stomping Tantrum
  75. > - Ice Shard
  76. > - Superpower
  77.
  78. Mamoswine was probably the most innovative part of this team. Mamoswine is one of those mons that is super scary in the teambuilder, but it is so rare that u just act like it doesnt exist. Ice+Ground is amazing dual stab and Stomping Tantrum gives Mamoswine a good single target attack. During building I was thinking about TW plus Mamoswine bc my dumbass forgot that choice scarf was an item. Jolly Mamoswine allows it to outspeed Adamant Landorus-T meaning that it can just remove it from play before it gets a chance to do anything. Ice Shard and Crash are the obligatory ice moves and superpower helps with the ferrothorn match up as that mon can give this team lots of trouble.

  82. > Wildcat (Amoonguss) (M) @ Wiki Berry
  83. > Ability: Regenerator

  86. > Sassy Nature
  87. > IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
  88. > - Spore
  89. > - Rage Powder
  90. > - Sludge Bomb
  91. - Giga Drain
  92.
  93. The last member and second half of the team support is Amoonguss. Amoonguss can put stuff to bed and offers redirection. I went with giga drain over protect mainly because I forgot to put protect on it lol.
