Background:

He was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, to a Chinese mother and a Vietnamese father. He has two younger brothers, and has grown used to caring for and managing them over the years. His family lived in a rather poor area of Hanoi, in a small inexpensive apartment. He shared a bedroom with his brothers throughout all of childhood. As a child, he often returned home humming the songs that he learned at school, which led his parents to understand that their eldest son was inclined towards music. For his eleventh birthday his parents took him to a live music show, to which Bao realized that he wanted to become a musician. However, his family was too poor to get him music lessons or find him a music school, so he spent the next few years taking on a part time job at a thrift store to save up money, which he used to pay for singing lessons starting at age 17. In his free time he took care of and fed the stray neighborhood dogs, not caring that his family didn't have much food anyway.



Personality:

He is a determined and independent boy, often being a bit of a perfectionist. Due to growing up with his two little brothers, he often had to take care of them and act as a parent towards them, leading him to feel a sense of responsibility for his dongsaengs. When flustered or angry, he will swear in Vietnamese. He has grown up to love animals, and will unhesitatingly take in stray animals (even into the dorms). He is good at saving and managing money and resources, due to his past. Though he is normally patient and carefree, when he sees a member of his group being disrespectful or rude to someone (not within the group) he will scold them until he believes that they have learned their lesson. When sad or emotional, being someone who cries easily, he will hide his face from others, and often go sit in a far away corner if possible. In online situations, such as texting in group chats, he will act more bold, roasting people frequently and sending lots of memes. If a hater is dissing another member or trying to spread a rumour about them, Bao will get defensive and protect his dear member at all costs. When feeling sick, he will insist on taking care of himself as he does not want to inconvenience anyone else. Though not rich at all, he will constantly buy things for the other members. When ordered to do something, he will do it, unless he is extremely tired, or he feels like what he is being asked to do is not morally right.

Audition:

-He sang the song "Monodrama "("모노드라마") by LAY. The people overseeing the audition heard his vocals and saw that he had some potential, so they decided to accept him, but they explained that he would have to train in Korea. Though hesitant, he didn't want to miss the chance and agreed.

Introduction: "Staying true to my heart, I'm Zootopia's Bao-ho! Sao rồi?" (Note: sao rồi translates to "What's up?" Or "What's going on?" in Vietnamese.)

Trivia:

-Cannot speak Chinese, though it is his mother's first language. When he sang Monodrama for his audition, he only knew what the lyrics meant because he read the Vietnamese translation.

-He looks up to Super Junior and EXO

-Often forgets major things when nervous

-Listens mainly to dubstep and pop music

-He often confuses the Korean words niga and naega (I/me and you), so he will sometimes make a mistake when speaking. (Example: someone is nicely playing a violin, and he says "You really like your violin playing. I are good at it.")

-Watches the cooking channel and tries to cook things he sees

-Loves eating sweets, though the other members say he'll get fat if he eats them as much as he normally does. He could care less.

-Though normally kind and responsible, he has a very out there sense of humor. He'll laugh at even the most risqué jokes.

-He gets sick, and is so out of it that he accidentally takes a shower with a tshirt and jeans on. He walks out in sopping wet clothing, hair covered in shampoo, and flops down on the carpet while the other members look at him in utter confusion and shock.
