  1. The first dwarves were forged by Hielaph in the distant past to serve as workers for his great forge. As the gods became more distant from the material plane, the dwarves came more into their own as one of the sentient races. Historically, there were many dwarven empires, but following the fall of Tor came a period of great strife and violence, during which many of these empires were wiped out entirely by war. Today only a single empire remains, The Iron Dominion of Donnegroth. Ruled by the Iron Council, a group of seven, The Iron Dominion stands as the last bastion of true Dwarven society.
