  1. Long ago, Valerian, the Archmage and King of Eris got a tiny bit too curious in the subject of portals, and decided it would be a good idea to attempt opening a portal to an alternate realm in hopes of discovering new things. Be it magic, technology, an entire new race for an alliance or even, enemies. The latter was the fucking case, because unbeknownst to Eris, they opened a plane to one of the many layers of The Abyss. It only took half an hour before the corruption spread throughout the city, reducing it to the uninhabitable rubble it is today.
  2.
  3. What allowed most of the people to get out alive however was Valerian's deal with the devil. Except worse. Lamashtu had offered them great power to help defend themselves against the Abyssal horde; why exactly is unknown, but many scholars and demonologists believe it was so that she could secure her dominance over The Abyss. The only condition was that Valerian himself drank the putrid sludge that fizzled from her body.
  4.
  5. So created the subhumans! Valerian and every survivor left in Eris ended up transforming into Lamashtu's new super race. Mana coursed through their veins, and the excess found in their soul ended up crystallizing into solid rocks found across the body, painfully ripping from their flesh. With their remaining strength, the survivors had managed to abandon Eris with their lives. However. While they were granted incredible magical power, they also found that their blessing was a curse. Every subhuman was rendered infertile, and the moment Valerian made the contract, every single man, woman, or child related to the new subhuman race ended up forfeiting their bloodline to the curse as well.
  6.
  7.
  8. Fast forward two hundred years, and the curse can still be found springing up here and there. While a subhuman is uncommon, they can still be found popping up in various bloodlines. Becoming a subhuman is obviously not hereditary, as they're infertile. Instead, they randomly show up from time to time across the globe. It simply just happens. Subhumans lose their mothers at birth for obvious reasons.
  9.
  10. Subhumans are essentially a template you can apply to almost any race, really. They're deformed from numerous crystals and rocky formations found across the body. Many describe them as a cross between a man and a golem.

  33. A subhuman NOT using magic is outright unheard of. The mana crystals found across their body allow for them to use magic without the use of a catalyst, and not to mention, learn it much quicker than your average joe.
  34.
  35. Subhuman druids are very possible, but it depends on their base race.
