  1. High Admiral Y’eldi’s fleet operates out of a deep space
  2. facility spinward of Krrk’tikit, a vast conglomeration of
  3. cold-core way stations and sidereal-locked void-wharfs
  4. known simply as Anchorage 12. This location fulfills many
  5. roles, including fleet headquarters, primary staging zone,
  6. logistics hub, and training centre, and it guards the rimward
  7. terminus of the Landfall-Black Reef passage. At any one
  8. time, thousands of star ships are to be found at anchor there,
  9. from the mighty Hero-class to the ubiquitous Defenders
  10. and Messengers. Anchorage 12 is equipped with substantial
  11. void-docking facilities and is able to repair and refit vessels
  12. damaged in battle against the Imperial Navy, and its spinward
  13. zones are utilised as training and proving grounds for new
  14. crews and vessels.
  15. The mainstay star ship of the Mal’caor Shi Tau fleet is the
  16. Kir’qath, or “Hero” class, a vessel developed in the aftermath
  17. of the Defence of the Damocles Gulf as a match for the
  18. Imperium’s Lunar-class Cruiser, the most common war ship
  19. of its type in the Imperial Navy. Under Y’eldi’s leadership,
  20. the Hero class vessels of the Mal’caor have undergone a
  21. series of upgrades designed to increase their effectiveness
  22. in the battlegrounds of the Jericho Reach. Many of these
  23. improvements relate to the vessel’s gravimetric handling
  24. capabilities, deemed essential given the unpredictable
  25. conditions in the vicinity of the Black Reef. Other upgrades
  26. have been made in an effort to gain a range of advantages
  27. against specific Imperial classes, and involve the balancing of
  28. defensive, offensive, speed and manoeuvrability factors.
  29. The greatest challenge facing High Admiral Y’eldi is not
  30. any one class of Imperial war ship, but the sheer number of
  31. vessels the Imperium can bring to bear against his forces. It is
  32. Y’eldi’s belief that the Imperium’s approach to naval warfare
  33. relies more on quantity, firepower, and attrition than the
  34. quality and expertise of its vessels and its crews, yet this is
  35. complicated by the presence of the Space Marines and their
  36. fleets.
