I could imagine during a "rehearsal" that she probably grabbed his head and yanked it to the side and said *"you will look HERE and NOT stare at the selfie stick or it's another day and night in the naughty boy box for you".*

There is no reason to think that what she is doing is either technically or physically difficult. Both of those would be "belief obstacles" ("belief hurdles").



It would only be difficult if you are imagining a huge, heavy and unwieldy selfie stick!



Perhaps also her appearance - as you say - that of a "feeble old granny caring for an autistic kid" - that further makes us accept that she cannot have interviewed herself.
