Skype merge instructions/password reset

*** This will merge your account with an email account, but seems to be the only way to resolve the issue ***

Issue: Skype password does not reset, instead resets a Microsoft account. Accessing Skype is possible, just cannot change the password.

These are the instructions from Skype support. I used plaintext so you can see exactly the link to use for accessing your Skype account.

sign out

once you are signed out please sign in using your Skype username

if you are automatically signed in, sign out and sign in with a different account, then sign in with Skype username again

enter an email for the account. if it is an existing Microsoft account, it will combine them into one account

*** this means it is asking to merge with an email address to convert it to be a Microsoft account ***

You can add an email address and it will ask you to enter new password for both, and this will serve as resetting the password

if it disconnected your Skype application, the new password is accepted
